Chapter 78: Astral Vision

Kael got confused hearing Rias’s words, but Alpha quickly filled in the details for him. She had been deciphering the information left behind by the Storm Dragon and had gained something new.

[The Astral Projection is just a projection of your Soul Body in the Astral World. There’s a connection between the two, so using the Astral Projection of the other party, you can transfer some information to them directly through the Astral World.]

’Yeah, but I can’t access the Astral World yet, so how am I supposed to do that?’

[But you are very close to the C-Rank, which means you can access the Astral Vision, which lets you sense the effects the Astral World has on the Physical World. You can use the connection between the Soul Body and the Astral Projection to locate it and transfer the information.]

’Does that mean I can also sense if someone near me is extracting Mana from the Astral World?’

[Yes. It is one of the advantages of achieving the C-Rank.]

’Nice. Can you teach me that?’

[Yes.]

"Want me to help you?"

Kael snapped to his senses hearing Rias and shook his head. "I’ll try activating the Astral Vision first."

Rias nodded, looking deeply at him as her eyes took on a deep shade of silver. There was an indiscernible look in her gaze. In the next second, a bead of blood formed in the corner of her eye, which she quickly wiped off.

’What is he? And what’s my connection with him? Why is his mana so familiar?’ Rias wondered to herself, closing her Astral Vision.

"You are very special," she muttered under her breath.

On the other hand, Kael was trying to activate his Astral Vision, so he didn’t hear her properly. Alpha had already given him the instructions.

He sat down cross-legged, his breath steady and deep, the wind around him gently ruffling his clothes as he tried to still his thoughts.

A hush fell over the clearing.

The towering Great Storm Tree loomed in the background, its vast canopy whispering like an ancient choir in sync with the breeze.

Rias stood at a distance, arms folded, her eyes never leaving him. The twins were sitting silently, while Kiona stood closer, her golden eyes full of curiosity.

Kael’s skin tingled faintly. He wasn’t circulating mana as usual. Instead, he was drawing in the ambient flow, letting it naturally settle within him.

He focused inward, sinking into the space between thought and breath, between awareness and emptiness.

’Stillness first,’ he reminded himself.

He felt his heartbeat slow, each thump resonating in his chest like a distant drum. His soul, usually a restless thunder, began to quiet down as if lulled by an invisible lullaby.

Then came the second step—finding the metaphysical pathways of his body.

He opened his inner vision and instantly saw it: glimmering blue threads running across his Ether body, like rivers of light beneath the surface. They connected to his Soul Core, branching out to every point in his body like a divine nervous system.

’They’re beautiful...’ he couldn’t help but whisper in his mind. This was the first time he truly observed the pathways and realized they were much different from his previous body.

[Focus. You’re at the threshold.]

Alpha’s calm voice brought him back. Kael nodded slightly and reached for the final step. He followed the gentle tremors, the ripples of the world that didn’t belong to the physical plane.

The air grew cold.

Then, a shimmer burst across his vision even though his eyes were shut.

The world beyond opened to him—not really fully, but like a curtain being drawn slightly to reveal a sliver of light. He felt the immense, abstract expanse of the Astral World pressing faintly against the edge of his consciousness.

And then it happened. freёnovelkiss-com

A veil lifted.

The world turned... translucent. When he opened his eyes again, the forest remained the same, yet everything shimmered faintly. The world was painted in hues of different colors—but mainly silver and pale blue—as if every object had a shadow of its soul hovering just beside it.

"So this is... Astral Vision."

He quickly scanned his surroundings using this special state.

The Great Storm Tree no longer looked like a normal tree. Its roots glowed with white lightning energy, and strange glyphs flickered across its bark like old carvings burned into reality itself.

The sky above shimmered with strands of terrifying power—dancing threads of astral mana falling like invisible rain. It was truly a beautiful yet harrowing sight.

Kiona’s aura blazed softly, a golden-orange glow with a wisp of flame trailing off her ears.

Jon and Seth looked like twin suns barely veiled under fur, their forms leaking thunderous energy.

Rias... was a silhouette of darkness. Her body was cloaked in a shroud of void and silver moonlight, and her Astral Projection floated above her slightly, like a soul being watching over itself.

"Impressive," Rias said softly. "You activated it on your first try."

"I had a good teacher," Kael muttered, lips curving upward. "Well, sort of."

[You’re welcome, Master.]

Rias approached slowly, her eyes narrowed in focus. "You can see me, right?"

Kael nodded.

"Then I’ll let you try something advanced. Try focusing on my Astral Projection, not my body. Form a bridge between the two of you using your soul thread. I’ll keep my mind open."

Kael nodded and exhaled again. His eyes narrowed as he focused on the semi-transparent version of Rias hovering a step above her real body.

He reached out—not physically, but with his mind.

The Astral World responded.

A thin, silver thread flickered into being between his core and hers.

’There!’

[Focus on the intent of what you want to send. In this case, you’re going to send knowledge of the... animes and let it echo through the thread. Don’t force it. Let the thread vibrate naturally.]

Kael nodded.

The world vanished.

His mind was filled with images, videos, and every anime he had ever watched. The very feeling of transferring information across consciousness flooded through the thread.

When he came back to himself, it had only been a few seconds.

But he knew how to do it.
