Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon-Chapter 86: The Beginning Of Something Great
Chapter 86: The Beginning Of Something Great
With the frame set, Kael and Kiona worked on raising the walls using the Blackstone Bricks. They used a layering method, stacking each brick with methodical care.
The gaps were filled using a paste derived from Sunbathed Liquid Sap mixed with crushed herbs and dried plant fibers. Once sealed, the compound hardened under sunlight into a nearly unbreakable mortar.
Each wall went up slow but steady, with Kael handling the heavier lifting and Kiona expertly directing the structure’s layout.
She seemed tireless, darting from one section to another, adjusting angles, applying sealant, checking measurements drawn crudely on a rolled-up bark scroll made from animal hide.
The air grew thicker with heat as they worked. Their movements slowed, but never stopped.
Kael paused near the corner of the half-built house, wiping his neck with his sleeve and glancing at the nearby empty zone. "Think we’ll need more logs?"
Kiona followed his gaze, then nodded. "We need thinner ones for the floor supports. Hardwood, not Ironbark. The flexible kind."
Kael stretched his back with a grunt. "I’ll head out and get some. You stay here and make sure the walls don’t collapse."
As Kael disappeared into the treeline, Kiona stood by the central structure, her golden eyes glowing faintly in the sunlight as she inspected their work.
Despite her exhaustion, she had a pleasant smile on her face. It was finally happening—her dream was turning real, brick by brick.
Meanwhile, Kael moved deeper into the forest. There were a lot of trees that Rias had cut, but sadly they didn’t include the kind they needed, so Kael had to personally cut and bring them back.
He located a cluster of Spinewood Trees, tall and narrow with dark, twisted trunks. Their inner wood was known for its elasticity, perfect for flooring.
With a few precise strikes using his claws, Kael took down a few trees and carried back thick branches and logs bundled together with vine rope.
By the time he returned, Kiona had already completed sealing three of the four walls and was waiting at the doorway with a grin. "Took your time." ƒгeewebnovёl_com
"Chose the best," Kael said, dropping the bundle. "You’ll thank me when your bed doesn’t creak."
"You mean ours?" Kiona flashed a grin, only for him to return it with a light chop on her head.
Together, they worked through the remainder of the day. They set the floor panels, reinforced the ceiling, built a sloped roof using bark slabs and waterproof leaves, and even carved out small windows facing the east and west to allow sunlight to enter at dawn and dusk.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a soft amber glow, the house stood proud and complete—not lavish, but sturdy, practical, and most importantly, theirs.
Kiona slumped against the doorway, brushing her soot-streaked face with a hand. "It’s so beautiful, Master."
Kael nodded beside her, their shoulders touching. "It’s a good start."
They sat there for a moment, silent and satisfied, gazing at the structure glowing in the golden hour light, unaware that Rias had been watching everything with curiosity.
After a few minutes of rest, Kael stood up and walked some distance away to see the result of their hard work from a better angle. It was their first home, after all. He’d been kinda excited for it the whole day.
Kiona followed him, skipping over the leftover materials and arriving near him in no time. Then, the two of them turned around and witnessed the fruit of their labour.
Kael and Kiona stood side by side, their shadows stretching long behind them under the setting sun.
The golden light bathed the structure before them, reflecting softly off the Blackstone Bricks, giving them a quiet, dignified glow. The house wasn’t majestic by any means, but to them, it was nothing short of a monument.
Thick Blackstone Bricks formed the walls, each one laid with care and fused together with the reddish-golden paste made from Sunbathed Liquid Sap.
The faint glow of the dried sealant shimmered between the dark bricks like veins of light. Four windows, framed in carved wood, were set on the sides—small, but just enough to let light in and keep danger out.
A gently sloped roof made of bark slabs and hardened Ironbark beams capped it all. It stretched further in the front to create a small shaded porch held up by two wooden columns.
A short stair of smooth stone led up to the entrance, and the wooden door stood proudly at the center, freshly fitted and reinforced with metal rods from their first batch.
Kael exhaled slowly, arms folded as he took in the view. "Looks better than I imagined."
Kiona said nothing at first, her golden eyes tracing every line of the house—the walls they raised, the roof they sealed, the beams they lifted. Her tail flicked behind her, ears twitching as if trying to hold back the swell of emotions inside her.
"We really built it," she finally whispered, voice low, almost reverent.
Kael glanced at her. Dirt clung to her skin, her hair was messy, her hands were scratched. She had never looked more radiant and beautiful.
"It’s ours," he said with a smile.
Kiona nodded, a fierce pride rising in her chest. "The first home of our tribe... the beginning of something great."
"Sounds a little cringe."
"Huh? What?" Kiona blinked, confused by his words.
"Haha, forget it. Just enjoy the moment," Kael chuckled and hugged her from the shoulder.
Kiona glanced at him from the corner of her eyes, still feeling something off in his words. But feeling the warmth of his body, she forgot about everything and leaned on him.
Just then, a silvery glow blurred on their side as Rias appeared, wearing a casual pair of white hoodie and denim shorts. Her open, smooth hair fluttered in the wind as she looked at the house with a silent smile on her face.
Kael glanced at her, trying not to lower his gaze toward her milky thighs, and asked, "You got so many clothes in your inventory?"
"Inventory... yes, I seem to have collected many things over time, perhaps to remind me of my past. And so many of them are just useless," Rias nodded. "There are many types of clothes in there too. But I like these the most."
’Was she perhaps a shopping junkie in one of her lives?’ Kael mused before saying, "Then, how about you give us some of that stuff? It’s useless to you, but maybe we can use it for the town."
"Hmm, I’ll keep some of it with me so I remember every world I have visited," Rias spoke in a soft tone. "Perhaps, I made some connections in those worlds, and these are the remnants of them."
Kael closed his mouth upon hearing that. Now, he felt a little bad for asking for her things, as they represented her connection with every world she had visited.
Perhaps these clothes she wore every day were bought on Earth. Kael could already imagine her going shopping with a few friends, them helping her pick out clothes, laughing under city lights.
They certainly meant a lot to someone like her, someone who couldn’t remember the life she had lived.
"Don’t overthink. As I said, I have collected a lot of trash too, so I’m only giving you the things I don’t consider dear to me. I’m sure I’ll feel a familiar feeling from the things I hold dear."
