Chapter 94: The Plans for Future

Kael was a little surprised hearing Rias’s question, but not too much. She was an anomaly, as Draven had said. It wasn’t surprising for her to sense the changes that flame had brought in him.

Though, even he couldn’t understand what those changes were aside from the fact that he could now know some of the secrets of the world—things he shouldn’t even be aware of.

He scratched his head with a helpless look on his face and said, "Let’s just say that you shouldn’t reveal some information so casually."

"It was intentional," Rias spoke with a subtle smile on her face, her violet eyes shimmering under the lamplight. "I sensed that you were special, so I wanted to see how you would react to this information. It isn’t something too forbidden or something that would give you corruption, so the danger was very low."

’Low my ass! I almost died out there. Or maybe I did... That flame probably brought me back,’ Kael resisted the urge to retort out loud and instead asked, "Yeah, well, can you describe the changes in me?"

"So, even you don’t know about the dangers," Rias muttered under her breath before shaking her head lightly. "And no, I just sensed something different in you, but I don’t know the exact nature of the changes. It was... like something ancient briefly flickered."

Just then, Kiona snapped back to her senses. Her brows furrowed as she whispered to herself, "What was I thinking...?"

"We were discussing the aftereffects of my actions," Kael quickly changed the subject with a forced chuckle, not wanting Kiona to recall anything that might push her too close to truths she wasn’t ready for.

"Oh yes, you were saying something about letting them spread their faith," Kiona’s eyes lit up a little as she remembered, clearly more at ease now.

"Yes. They won’t let go of such an opportunity—especially if they get the help of all the major Beast Tribes in defeating the humans. After all, even if they couldn’t convert the beasts, they will have plenty of humans to convert," Kael smiled faintly, his tone calm but calculated.

Kiona’s smile faded slightly as she thought aloud. "The only problem is, what will the Elves think of us? Aside from a few, most of them are very egocentric... They’re likely to backstab us the moment we lose usefulness. Maybe even to obtain full control over Eldryn." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"What about the Dwarves?" Rias asked, tilting her head curiously, her long silver-blue hair shifting as she leaned forward.

"They don’t care about the world much. They don’t even meddle in wars, aside from using them to sell their products," Kael said while shaking his head. His eyes narrowed slightly.

’But what about their faith? Why don’t they want to spread their religion to the world? Why doesn’t their God tell them to do this?’

Kael was genuinely perplexed about the situation with the Dwarves. They had never once tried to invade any other lands or start a war.

They had always holed themselves up in the Ironspine Mountains, which also provided them with an impenetrable natural fortress. No faction had ever won a war against them.

Their defense was monstrous, thanks to their advanced weapons. Rumors said the Dwarves had canons that could blast a hole through a Demi-God.

If the Elves really wanted to conquer the world, they could leave the Dwarves alone—or even join hands with them, considering they were both equally strange races.

By then, Eldryn would have only one proper religion left—and that would be the one followed by the Elves and their God.

Kael rubbed the bridge of his nose and muttered, "We’ll cross that bridge when we get there... Because we need them. If we don’t do this, then we’ll be finished before we can even begin properly."

"That’s true. By then, you might even reach a Rank where even the Elves would think twice before crossing you," Rias added from the side, her voice cool and confident.

Her words reminded Kael of his own ridiculous talent. He had been so entangled with gods and divine matters that he’d almost forgotten about the actual battles he needed to fight.

’Old man is right. I should just focus on the task at hand. Gods can be handled later on,’ Kael smiled lightly to himself. "And that is the goal. We’ll wait and prepare ourselves for the worst. Then, even if the Elves want to backstab us, they won’t be able to."

"That’s great!" Kiona also smiled, her tail flicking behind her in subtle excitement. "Then... are we safe for the moment?"

"Yes, you could say that," Kael nodded, then paused. "But I doubt the humans will back away so easily. They’ll probably keep an eye on the surroundings for a while until they get a proper understanding of the situation."

He leaned forward a little, his tone serious. "If we enter the Labyrinth, then we’ll need to be careful. The twins will be fine because they are beasts—but we are different."

"I can look out for the spies," Rias offered, flipping a dagger in her hand nonchalantly. "It’s not really a hard thing to do."

"Then, I’ll have to thank you every day to show my gratitude for everything you’re doing for us," Kael smiled genuinely, his expression softening.

"I don’t want your thanks," Rias said suddenly, turning her gaze toward him. Her eyes locked onto his, glowing faintly with a dense, insatiable hunger.

Kael’s back straightened instinctively as goosebumps crawled over his skin. Only now did he realize just how much Rias was resisting her instincts, instincts that were probably screaming at her to devour him and consume his essence.

And yet, she didn’t.

He felt warmth bloom in his chest and offered a small smile. "I’ll give you a drop of blood tomorrow."

Rias stared at him for a few more seconds before nodding and looking away, her expression unreadable.

Kiona watched the interaction with fascination, a slight blush creeping onto her face before she looked down. "Master, since we’re safe for the time being... what will be our plan for the next few days?"

"We’re not completely safe."

"How so?" Kiona blinked in confusion. "We’ve already taken both humans and the Elves into consideration, though..."

"You’re forgetting that there are many Hidden Organizations in this world," Kael replied, shaking his head slowly. "And they either worship some other Gods or maybe even Evil Gods. Most of them are evil, actually, because of their methods."

"But... the humans will make sure they don’t approach us," Kiona said hesitantly.

It was a logical assumption. The humans would indeed make sure no other groups interfered or got access to what was happening in the Wilds.

But...

"Don’t forget, they also have Gods behind them," Kael said, his expression grim. "And Evil Gods are more likely to respond than the orthodox ones. There’s a high chance that a few of those organizations may still find ways to sneak in here."

"Then... perhaps we can use the humans," Kiona murmured thoughtfully, tapping her chin. "Let them fight the incoming cults and hidden sects. Basically throw two powerful enemies into a mess and escape?"

Kael raised an eyebrow, surprised. He hadn’t expected such a cunning suggestion from her.

But he wasn’t going to let that opportunity go.

He smiled and reached for her head, gently patting it. "That’s a good idea. And something we can do with Rias’s early warning."

Kiona lowered her head and closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth of his hand spreading through her body. A small purr escaped her lips before she caught herself and blushed.

After a while, she asked softly, "Still... what are we going to do tomorrow?"

"Continue our project," Kael replied with a faint smile. "They’ll likely get suspicious of the canal we’re building, so we need to do something with it. And also finish the remaining houses."

"The range of the Great Storm Tree is bigger than you think," Rias added before Kael could say more. "They’ll likely keep some spies stationed at the edges. But that range is big enough for you to establish multiple cities."

"Then, that means our canal is safe?" Kiona asked, hopeful.

"Yes," Rias nodded. "For now, it is."

"That’s even better," Kael smiled, a glimmer of excitement in his voice. "Because that also means they’ll likely have more people on the west. We can use the east side to find more Beast Tribes."

He paused as a thought struck him. "But that’ll have to wait. For the next few days... we’ll be going through a mini training arc."

"Training what?" Kiona asked, tilting her head.

Rias paused mid-movement, then slowly smiled. There was amusement in her eyes, no, pride. As if she had been waiting for this, as if she had accomplished something.

Kael wanted to laugh seeing her reaction but held back. "We need to maximize our combat power before we move on. I’ll explain the rest tomorrow."
