Legendary Librarian System-Chapter 120: Silent Weave
Liu Wei nodded.
He said, "Tell me more about this Silent Weave."
Personally, Liu Wei liked the name. Hence, he was more curious about the hidden intelligence group, Silent Weave, than Yu Shuang.
Meng Ai nodded.
"Silent Weave is just two months old but has grown stronger to the point it covered ninety percent of the Kingdom of Jinwu and thirty percent of the Tribe of the Burning Fang."
Liu Wei was surprised.
To think it was Meng Ai, who established it? Even with the help of a noble, that is still difficult to achieve. Furthermore, there’s no way that the royal family is not aware of its growing presence in the Kingdom of Jinwu.
"The true structure of the Silent Weave is only known to me and Big Sister Yu Shuang. The highest position is called Mother, which is me. I created this structure to make my identity more enigmatic and difficult to assume that their mother is actually a child."
Meng Ai giggled and Liu Wei smiled.
He thought. How clever.
"The Mother is the absolute core of the Silent Weave. No one in the Silent Weave knows her name, face, or existence except Big Sister Yu Shuang, who is my right hand. All directives originate from her analysis alone. She never gives direct orders, but only guidance fragments."
Meng Ai continued after sipping the tea to soothe her throat.
"Next is the right hand of the Mother, who is called the Elder Sister. She receives the Mother’s full instructions, translating it into practical orders. She protects the Mother’s anonymity at all costs. In fact... she even swore to me she would immediately bite her tongue once she was captured."
Meng Ai lowered her head to hide her eyes from being teary.
Liu Wei gazed at her and asked, "Did that almost happen?"
Meng Ai nodded.
Her throat quivered. "I-I will tell later."
Meng Ai quickly composed herself and continued the Silent Weave topic.
"Then, comes the operational structure, which everyone else sees.
Below the Elder Sister is called the Loomkeepers. They are regional directors. Each of them controls a city or province, with some being a significant official there. Funny enough, they believe they are completely independent but have been unknowingly following my designs.
They only report to the Elder Sister, but they never meet each other."
Liu Wei raised his eyebrows.
I get it now, they are important figures so they are easy to manipulate as long as Meng Ai gathered enough knowledge to strike their weakness.
Meng Ai said, "Then, below the Loomkeepers are the Threadbearers. They are the field operatives, so they were those who were couriers, merchants, scribes, guards, and innkeepers.
They are only instructed to gather, not to analyze. Big Sister Yu Shuang made them believe that the Silent Weave is a merchant intelligent guild."
"Lastly, the most important position and where the Silent Weave lies their greatest strength is the Listeners. They are the passive information sources. They are street vendors, servants, performers, and refugees. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
They are often unaware they belong to any organization. What they only know is that the more information they possess, the more they are rewarded.
Hence, they provide rumors, trends, and whispers."
Liu Wei nodded.
He admired how Meng Ai utilized her intelligence to the fullest to function the Silent Weave.
He thought for sometime and sighed.
He said, "It has grown much stronger, but it is still new. In other words, the faster it grows, the faster it can fall, too."
Meng Ai nodded and said, "Yeah. You really can’t call it an organization, so I can only call it a group. In fact, I’m the only one who benefits from it, either. If it is not because of that, I wouldn’t have been able to quickly form my Knowledge Intent."
Liu Wei agreed.
He said, "After all, your progression in Dao is much faster if you execute it."
Meng Ai replied, "I agree. That’s why I want to give it to you, Big Brother Liu Wei. I mean, you can always have the information you need from us. If I am the mother, then you are the father."
Liu Wei was speechless.
He coughed. "Don’t make it sound like that, or the author will get imprisoned."
Meng Ai frowned and tilted her head sideways.
"Who?"
Liu Wei shook his head and replied, "Nothing. Anyway, you are still a kid, it’s already quite an achievement for you to establish this intelligence network. However, I know now that you lack leadership. I will help you with it."
Meng Ai was stunned.
She giggled. "Well, it’s basically yours, Big Brother Liu Wei, so you can do anything with it."
Liu Wei nodded. He pinched his chin and pondered.
After a while, he said, "What the Silent Weave lacks is a long-term doctrine."
"Long-term doctrine?"
"Mhm. Since it’s only two years old, the Silent Weave only survives on your insight, your big sister’s flawless execution, and more importantly, momentum and secrecy.
Once the momentum and secrecy is broken, the Silent Weave will immediately be dissolved and both of your lives will be in peril."
Meng Ai was taken aback. She could not help but be anxious.
Liu Wei said, "That’s why it must develop a doctrine. It is not to control the people but to stabilize a belief when the Mother cannot directly guide everything."
Meng Ai fell into deep thought.
She asked, "I’m quite curious, Big Brother Liu Wei. How will we ensure that there’ll be no betrayal to occur and that the members’ loyalty will continue to grow for the Silent Weave?"
Liu Wei instantly replied, "Well, your structure is already strong, so the doctrine that we will develop will simply align with human psychology, organizational survival, and Dao logic at the same time."
Meng Ai was stunned.
She asked with an excited tone, "Then, do you have an idea in mind, Big Brother Liu Wei?"
Liu Wei nodded.
"I do have a few set of ideas, but that can be worked on later."
Meng Ai heaved a sigh of relief.
She was silent for a while, and so was her Big Brother Liu Wei.
Liu Wei did not grab what Meng Ai wanted to give yet.
He was still curious about something.
"You stated earlier that your big sister almost killed herself. Did she get caught?"
