LEVEL 0 IMMORTAL-Chapter 43: The Vision of The Past
Elias could feel himself slipping away and something rising to take his place. The fact that he was still able to think at the moment was all because his mind had been split in two, and so he could exist a bit outside his body.
But he could not do anything. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
The golden light completely devoured every single tornado of vitality, but instead of becoming brighter, it turned black at the edges, and it was as if it was transforming into something more real, and Elias knew without any doubt that the moment that happened, he would die.
He knew it with such certainty that he did not doubt it.
The hundred pools of Lumina that had been filled with blood began to drain, not into Elias, but through him, as though he had become a conduit to somewhere else.
Somewhere deeper, older. There was a bright flash in both of his consciousness, and Elias’ mind flashed with fractured images that slowly resolved themselves into a scene from a nightmare.
He saw a woman with golden eyes weeping green blood. She was beautiful, and at first, he could only see her face and part of her neck, but his vision seemed to zoom out, and he saw that she was sitting on a throne of broken wings.
These wings appeared to have been freshly torn out of the bodies of their owner, and they bled golden blood. From the way her eyes remained open and her stillness, it appeared as if she were dead. It was as if knowing she was dead opened his eyes because Elias could suddenly see that she had been pierced through the body and nailed to the throne of broken wings by a dozen spears.
This was not a woman, Elias suddenly understood; this was a goddess.
Then he heard a cry, and his vision panned around to see a child with red hair screaming in a cradle made of stone.
The goddess who should be dead shuddered, and her tears rose up into the skies and transformed into a storm, and Elias coils have sworn that there was a massive mouth in the sky that began to consume that storm that was a mother’s grief made manifest.
"Eat your wings, my son," he heard a whisper, and it came from the dead goddess, "Fly to me... fly into the storm!"
Then a gust of wind seized the baby, and the child was thrown into the clouds above, which were beginning to fill with thunderous clouds and lightning as if the world was about to end.
His vision was dragged into the air, and he could not even begin to understand what was happening when the greatest lightning bolt he had ever seen in his life, it carried various colors, some he recognized, most he did not.
The lightning bolt descended on the goddess, and Elias knew no more. He could see the earth shatter and sea rise; the calamity that was happening was on a scale where his mind simply turned off, as he could not comprehend this scale of devastation.
But a part of him thought he recognized some of the mountains erupting from the earth, and they realized that he was looking at Stormfall.
A thousand different messages and stories he had collected over the years resolved themselves in his mind, and Elias thought he understood, in that one terrible, perfect instant, that the woman, this goddess, had never been outside the Fragment.
She was inside it. She was it. This Fragment was part of her self; the entirety of Stormfall was built on the remnant of her corpse. So, all the stories were true. Asulon did not just reshape the earth with his final strike; a piece of the goddess he had killed had remained behind, and now he was inside that piece.
The Ascendant had killed the Gods and the Daemons and wore their skins. This was a truth every Siphon knew of, and now Elias had seen a part of the past, but who was that child, and was it a coincidence that they had the same red hair as Elias?
Elias did not think that he was the child, because whatever had happened took place so long in the past that he could not have been born at that time.
The goddess was dead, yet a part of her still remained, but what was left behind was twisted, wrong. Elias could see it in her words when she said to eat his wings for him to fly, or the blood that filled his Lumina Pool, but held no vitality. It was as if she were a corpse that simply refused to die because she did not know the meaning of death.
However, his actions here that led to him opening all one hundred pools of Lumina had created something new inside this Fragment. The resonance of all twenty purple orbs had created something...old, that golden energy which seemed to have fully awakened the Fragment of this goddess, but as he could see from the golden light that was slowly darkening and transforming into a weird tentacle, this part of the goddess could not come to life, but it seemed she could not understand.
Whatever pieces of her left behind were not complete, and although the golden energy was powerful, it was far too small to satisfy her needs, and so she would keep pulling out his life force until there was nothing left.
In her madness, she would consume him alongside her doom.
The transformation was completed, and a massive tentacle appeared inside this space in his body. It was about a hundred feet long, and at first, it was sleek and appeared powerful.
It was red, and countless white runes were gathered over every inch of its skin, making it appear almost holy, but this image did not last for long as the tentacle began to decay, massive portions of it were wilting and falling off, and then the tentacle... screamed, and his wisp form instantly shattered.
He snapped back into his body with a gasp that tore his throat. Blood sprayed across the air, and his heart hammered once, a single, impossibly loud beat, then stopped.
Vitality: 000 / ???
Darkness rushed in.
