Level 1 to Infinity: My Bloodline Is the Ultimate Cheat!-Chapter 354: The Unforeseen Impact
Chapter 354: The Unforeseen Impact
What Ethan didn’t know was that everything had happened purely by coincidence.
The three colossal meteors up in the sky and they were just cruising through the vast starfield, making their way through the sector. They had only just arrived, and by sheer chance, Ethan was unleashing his ultimate ability at that very moment.
Unfortunately for the meteors, they found themselves caught in the gravitational pull of his skill.
Reluctantly, they veered off course, wobbling and tumbling down toward the ground.
What Ethan didn’t realize was how massive the meteors appeared in his eyes. To him, they looked as big as the moon. But in comparison to the land beneath his feet, they were like a basketball to a grain of rice. Even without the barrier, if the meteors had fallen directly, they would have barely made a dent in the landscape.
But the real story lay at the epicenter of their impact.
---
The four figures in the desert ran swiftly. Or, to be more precise, two of them ran swiftly.
Uncle Jed had already hoisted Dot’s mother onto his shoulders, his expression strained with urgency.
"Ethan, you summoned this thing. Can’t you send it back?" Uncle Jed shouted, panic in his voice.
Ethan was just as frustrated. The skill was spiraling out of control. It felt like a suicide move.
The Soul Power within his Mindscape was draining at an alarming rate, just to keep the skill going. Yet, he couldn’t close the Gate of Ascension. Everything was spiraling beyond his control.
"This barrier... it can hold, right?" Ethan yelled back, glancing toward Uncle Jed as he ran.
"How the hell would I know!" Uncle Jed snapped, cursing under his breath.
---
Boom.
No sooner had he spoken than they heard it. Despite running so far, the colossal celestial body still crashed directly above them.
A muffled thud echoed, and for a moment, space and time seemed to freeze.
Crack.
The barrier let out a sharp sound as cracks appeared, visible to the naked eye. But then, the massive celestial body exploded in a burst of fire.
A wave of relief washed over Ethan and Uncle Jed.
However, the relief was short-lived.
A shockwave, visible to the naked eye, descended from the sky, and Ethan reacted instantly.
"Holy hell..."
Without thinking, he whipped out a thick climbing rope from his hand. Uncle Jed saw it and instinctively grabbed it.
Ethan had no time to explain. His hands worked quickly, tying several secure knots around Dot’s mother, ensuring her safety. Then, he wrapped coils of rope around himself. The other end was tied to the long spear in his hand.
"Let’s go..." Ethan muttered under his breath.
The spear plunged straight into the ground, with no one knowing how deep it had gone.
---
At that moment, Ethan had finished attaching a safety harness to Dot, clipping all the safety buckles onto her and then handing her to Uncle Jed.
"Ethan... what are you doing?" Uncle Jed asked, surprised to see Ethan wasn’t tying himself to the rope.
Instead, Ethan surged ahead, heading straight for the epicenter of the storm, where the shockwave had already begun sweeping toward them.
Ethan could see that although the barrier above them hadn’t shattered from the impact, it had cracked. Glowing red magma poured in through the fissures, descending like a flood from the sky.
With this sight, Ethan knew that merely holding back the shockwave wouldn’t be enough. The searing heat would turn them into charcoal—at the very least, Dot and her mother.
In a flash of thought, a gleaming steel plate appeared in his hands. It was over a dozen centimeters thick—a piece of steel that had been stolen from the Silverwood family.
Just before he left, Ethan had thoroughly ransacked their estate. This steel plate was one of the items he had taken.
At the time, he hadn’t fully understood its properties, but it was clear that it reduced the penetration of Soul Sense. It was also incredibly heat-resistant, with a melting point far higher than regular steel.
"Bear Form... Battle Embodiment!" Ethan muttered.
---
In the next instant, he unleashed a flurry of attacks. Heavy strikes, one after another, tore into the sand beneath his feet, creating a deep pit more than a dozen meters deep.
[Ding... System Notification: Insufficient mental energy, unable to use skill. Skill interrupted!]
Ethan winced in pain as his mind burned with the effort. But when he looked up, his heart soared.
The other two meteors had finally stopped descending. They didn’t fly away, but they veered off to the side, wobbling uncontrollably. Their target was no longer directly above them.
"Get in... lie down!" Ethan shouted, quickly putting the special steel plate back into his spatial storage.
He jumped into the pit, shielding Uncle Jed and the others beneath him.
As soon as he reached the bottom of the pit, his Mindscape stirred once more, and the steel plate reappeared before him. It settled in place, forming a protective barrier within the deep pit.
---
Ethan checked his Mindscape. The large wild boar, mostly decomposed, was still breaking down. The Soul Power it had provided was slowly replenishing itself. Earlier, his excessive use of skills had completely drained his Soul Power. The Forbidden spell had been the only thing that interrupted the meteors’ gravitational pull.
If he had known the consequences, Ethan thought to himself, he might not have used the spell earlier. It was all that wild boar’s fault for giving him Soul Energy. Without it, things might have never escalated this far.
Boom.
The shockwave finally reached the ground, followed by a fierce wind.
"Iron Hide... Iron Hide... Iron Hide..." Ethan whispered, stacking the protection of his Iron Hide ability as he prepared for impact.
Looking down at the three people beneath him, especially Dot’s terrified eyes, Ethan knew he had to hold on.

As the shockwave slammed into them, the steel plate trembled violently. It suddenly sank deeper into the sand, crashing onto Ethan’s back.
At the same moment, Ethan spat out a mouthful of blood. Although the steel plate had blocked most of the force, being closest to the ground, he still felt the full brunt of the impact. Even with Bear Form activated and five layers of Iron Hide, the force had shaken him to his core.
Uncle Jed, directly beneath him, was drenched in sweat. His eyes widened in horror as he looked at Ethan.
The searing heat followed, lasting for a full three minutes.
---
Finally, the outside became silent.
Ethan looked at the steel plate. After three minutes, the once-gray metal had turned faintly red. If it had continued any longer, even Silverwood family’s specialized steel would have melted.
The heat-resistant steel plate had blocked everything, but Ethan’s Soul Sense couldn’t penetrate it. He had no idea what the situation outside was like.
After a few more minutes, the steel plate’s color shifted to blue, the result of cooling from intense heat.
Ethan finally relaxed. He knew it was safe to move outside now. However, just as he let his guard down, his vision went black, and he lost consciousness.
---
When he woke up, blinding sunlight poured in from above. Nine suns burned in the sky.
He found himself moving, the object beneath him scorching hot. He reached out and touched it, realizing he was lying on the steel plate, which was now radiating heat from the intense sun.
He sat up quickly, only to see Uncle Jed dragging the steel plate along, the climbing rope draped over his shoulders. Ahead, Dot and her mother were trudging through the desert, enduring the scorching heat.
Ethan cursed inwardly: ’Holy hell, if I didn’t wake up, I’d be cooked!’
He scrambled up and jumped off the plate. The movement caught Uncle Jed’s attention.
"You’re awake..." Uncle Jed muttered, his gaze filled with an unreadable emotion.
"How long was I out?" Ethan asked, glancing at Uncle Jed as he pulled out a large barrel of purified water.
Uncle Jed twisted the cap off and drank from it greedily, then poured the rest over his head to cool off.
"A night and a morning..." Uncle Jed answered before pausing, his eyes widening at Ethan’s actions.
Ethan felt a bit awkward. There’s more, there’s more... he thought, pulling out another barrel of water and tossing it to Uncle Jed.
Uncle Jed’s resentment softened as he caught it.
Dot and her mother had noticed Ethan was awake and turned back to check on him. The three of them shared a drink of water before handing the rest back to Ethan. He refused, instructing them to put it in their canteens.
"Let’s talk," Ethan suggested, a sense of curiosity growing in him. He was eager to learn more about Uncle Jed and Dot’s mother. They didn’t seem as simple as they appeared, especially the quiet woman, who was definitely not an ordinary person.
And more importantly, Ethan was eager to understand this strange world.
"Alright, let’s find a place to rest!" Uncle Jed said, looking around for a shaded spot. But the desert stretched endlessly, offering no relief from the sun.
However, when he turned back to Ethan, he was once again taken aback by Ethan’s actions.
