Leveling Technology To Save Humanity-Chapter 49: Alice’s Power!
Chapter 49: Alice’s Power!
What did they just see? Everyone felt the color on their faces drain the longer they watched.
"Is your son crazy? Is he going to do what I think he will?" Clare Rei, who was normally calm, was now gripping her husband by the neck.
Even if it succeeds, you best believe Gort would get an ass whooping when he comes out.
Khalea, Larkh, Tunada and several others felt Gort was insane. But Katrina, Thulu, Tenten, and the rest of Gort’s sworn friends didn’t feel panicked.
"Aunty, don’t worry. When has Brother Gort done anything he’s not sure of?"
"_"
Is that the point here?
Bang!
Bullets rained in all directions but Gort lazily stood still as though bored.
[ Danger Detected. Mode 2 Engaged. ]
Alice’s unexpected and abrupt voice caused several people to almost imprint their faces on the glass window—especially when seeing the blockbuster script play out before them.
IT WAS INCREDIBLE!
Alice jumped high in the air, deflecting all attacks while also using Gort’s body as a springboard. She wasn’t designed to be a shield, but to control the center of scarcity of any attack or object, changing its trajectory away from the one it’s protecting.
She deflected the missiles, sending them a distance away from where Gort stood.
Her outer shell was strong, incredibly sturdy thanks to his specially crafted formula for enhancing the strength of any metal.
One might think he got Alien tech right now. But this wasn’t a reward from the system, but something he figured out on his own.
Watching the small spider-like object move made everyone feel they were watching the birth of Sci-fi technology.
[ Threats destabilized. Alice has won. ]
[ Initializing Dormant mode. ]
Alice jumped back on Gort’s hand, like a cart finding a good location to nap. Then, it rested on his wrist, transferring into a bracelet once more.
On Gort’s other arm, there was a happy spider icon sleeping on the smartwatch’s screen.
–Silence–
Everyone watched Gort leave the protective chamber, opening and closing the quivering mouths.
"You brat!" Clare Rei slapped her back of his head hard before hugging him tight. "If you want to test it out, why don’t you test it out on a dummy? Why must it be you? Look, can’t you use your father instead?"
"_" [Park Fairbang]
Wife, I suspect you want to kill me.
Tunada also joined in, hugging the duo tight. She felt sympathy for a genius like Gort who tested his creations on himself.
Nevertheless, she also pinched his side belly as a warning. "Don’t ever do that again, understand?"
Gort smiled wryly. ’It looks like next time, I won’t show them more security tech demonstrations.’
Several men, including Pei Hung and Mayor Akin, placed heavy hands on his shoulders.
"Hey, the young must grow."
"You brat, it’s good that you can think of your safety and that of your village."
Gort smirked," Of course. Right before opening my first company, security has always been my number 1 priority."
"So those bracelets..." Erin didn’t even need to complete his sentence for everyone to understand.
Are you kidding him? Never in his life has he seen something so cool, sci-fi-like and out of this world. The important thing is that the wearer would be safe from all sorts of belt and physical attacks.
This might very well be the greatest security technological invention of the decade. Even Mayor Akin wanted to own one.
"How about grenades? If the enemy launches grenades, what then?"
Gort gently rubbed the bracket on his right hand. "Alice can detect and analyze what sort of weapon is launched. She has an advanced nanofiber cocoon technology that will deploy like silk threads, wrapping both of us in a protective space of her making."
No one can find any stronger nanotechnology like the one he made. He didn’t make it with the current Human technology in mind, but was long thinking of galactic matters when making all creations.
Gort wasn’t one to brag, but it would take decades and perhaps centuries for many of the top minds in this world to understand just what he did.
At least without his guidance, they’ll get stuck for a long time getting success on one part of manufacturing, before encrypting the other parts and putting everything together.
This, Gort was sure of.
Stare stared at the bracelet thoughtfully. "You all think it’s great, but it’s not complete yet."
"Not..."
What? NOT complete?
Many didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
What else do you want to put in? Bazookas?
Crazy! Crazy! This Gort could be crazy at times.
Larkh—who was barely preventing his leg from falling due to shock—was already shaking like a leaf.
The excitement was just too much for his old heart. "What else is it lacking?"
A spaceship to head for the fucking moon? Why don’t you also make it to wear a tutu and dance at his niece’s ballet recital too?
Gort looked at Larkh wryly. "Master, I have a few more thoughts based on what I showed you earlier."
VR? Larkh’s eyes widened.
Gort knew Larkh must have misunderstood him.
But believe it or not, there were bits of the VR technology he wished to add onto this Spider security bracelet.... Technology that would completely revolutionize Communications!
....
Several people’s eyes turned subtle, knowing that there was more Gort wished to do to ’Alice’ before making it known to others.
It’s just that was that truly okay?
"Gort, while taking your time perfecting it, you must know that the enemy will wait for you to grow strong. You must never forget that!"
"In addition to that, what if it malfunctions? What other Plan Bs do you have for security backup?"
"No, this won’t do! Although impressive, we have to prepare for the worst."
....
Gort nodded obediently to their advice, though a part of him sneered when thinking of the enemy.
Him? Work on his Spider defense bracelet slowly? HAH! Time was a luxury he didn’t have.
They say no time is better than the present.
Looking at the group before him, Gort knew he had to make a decision—a decision to build a trustworthy army of his own.
