Leveling Technology To Save Humanity-Chapter 58: The Audience Is Shaken!!
Chapter 58: The Audience Is Shaken!!
"This is the Immersion Patch," Katrina announced. "When placed on your forehead, it seamlessly transports you into a fully immersive virtual reality environment."
That thing?
Skeptical murmurs rippled through the audience.
Some shook his heads in disappointment.
"A band on your forehead that does all VR functions? I’m afraid that even in a hundred years, our current technologies won’t be able to do that."
"In conclusion, they are delusional."
Dee Cole, another famous person in the programming and computer world nodded knowingly.
He was one of the best in the world, a freelancer with his own company. He worked with countless big computers, including a variety of VR companies in the past. So no matter how he looked at it, such a thing that was unheard of can’t be made in today’s era.
"What a waste of my time." Cole murmured, also tempted to walk away... However, Katrina’s next stunts made several people stop dead in their tracks.
"Please, try it for yourselves," she encouraged. "Place the patch at the center of your foreheads and say ’Activate.’"
The volunteers, although hesitant, ended up doing as told.
Feeling the cool metal against their skin, they skeptically and teasingly murmured the word <Activate>.
They chuckled, feeling that GF WorldTech was definitely finished after making them do such embarrassing stunts. But just then, their smiles froze as their foreheads now felt hot.
Everyone noticed the rims of the triangular patches now lighting up. Their eyes almost fell to the ground, including that of those watching LIVE.
[Oh my Buddha! How come it looks so cool? They now look like robots with their initiation buttons on their foreheads]
[Pfft, Upstairs, you’ve got it right. Just looking at them makes me want to tap their foreheads and see what happens.]
What’s going on? What’s going on here? Why is everyone staring at them weirdly?
Lex, Lana, and several others felt darkness gnawing at the edges of their eyes. And in a millisecond, their surroundings vanished.
Whoosh!
Everything was pitch black!!!!
So Scary!.. It was all too real, but fortunately lasted for only 2 seconds.
It was odd that they felt the temperature change when everything vanished made them dumbfounded. But when a new reality appeared before them, everyone wanted to drop on their knees in awe.
"This..."
Lex’s face was paper white when staring at the lush forest bathed in golden sunlight.
Birds chirped melodiously from treetops while a gentle breeze rustled through vibrant foliage.
Lana gasped beside him, also finding herself standing amidst towering trees and colorful flowers. "This is incredible," she whispered in awe.
Liam Wilson—CEO of Bitrosoft—turned slowly, taking in every detail with wide eyes. "It’s like being inside a dream," he admitted in a daze.
He touched a rock, and the texture made his logic tell him it was real. However, he knew he was in a VR world.
"How can this be? How can this be?"
"I don’t believe it! How did they do it when we didn’t?"
Several people from the Big 3 countries looked like they had been hit hard.
No... this changes everything. Virtual reality and be like this?
Katrina in the outside world quickly drew everyone’s attention to the screen. "As you can all see, they’re standing motionless here, but their minds are experiencing the immersive Virtual Reality world we crafted."
"Right now, it’s hot, and their physical body’s out here are also sweating."
"Ask yourselves guests... Why is it that when watching delicious food from the screen, you salivate and feel hungry, even though your body is full?"
"They say nothing is stronger than the brain’s ability to trick the body."
"Right now, the atmosphere here is cool and fresh. But take a lot of these volunteers–"
Just then, the many cameras zoomed in even more.
"Their bodies are sweaty and their foreheads are wet, as if they’re coming out from a pool... But what if we change the temperature for them?"
Katrina gave the instructions and those in the VR world now found themselves on top of a snowy mountain.
[Look, Look!] The people on the barrage, watching Live, commented, almost licking their screens now.
[Their shivering! I don’t think I’ve ever seen goosebumps on someone’s neck before.]
[Wooow...Their lips are shaking too.]
[Pfft,, the temperature has changed to hot again, but look at them now complaining about the heat? OIs that a dessert?]
[Amazing! Giant desert worms have appeared. Bahahahaha, Boss Liam of Bitrosoft is funny. Do you think throwing a bunch of sand at the giant sand worm will make it lose its HP?]
[Oops, Upstairs, I thought I was the only one thinking it was a videogame.]
[Sorry... Sorry... I take back what I said earlier. From now on, GF WorldTech is my Father!]
[My mom asked me why I’m breaking my VR gear. After showing her this, she joined me in breaking it too.]
What was VR? This was VR!!
...
Well, they were impressed.
A wise man once said, it’s best to cut your coat according to your size.
They had to admit that they thought GF WorldTech didn’t know how to follow such a simple principle. However, now they knew it was they who underestimated their opponent.
Within the crowd, several rival companies and competitors had monotonous expressions. The hands clenching on their champagne and wine glasses, were gripped tight... so tight that some accidentally broke the glasses without knowing it.
[Incredible! Are we seeing the dawn of a new age? One moment they’re sweating, and the next, they are shivering!]
[Yes! And according to GF WorldTech, despite the shivers or the heat, no one can actually die from anything. They said they made this concept for Gamers, and everyday people.]
[Great! I can’t wait to see how <Sword Battle Fortress> will be once we play it using their VR gear! I mean, just look at how small, lightweight and cool it looks? It’s just a triangular patch!]
[Suddenly, my massive headgear helmet doesn’t look so good anymore.]
[Too excited, I want it now. How much is it? Bah! I don’t care! I will never regret having it! Buy!]
