Chapter 110: Ch:110 Hunt or get Hunt

Jason caught Daniel’s right punch with his bare left hand and instantly fired a right hook straight at his face.

*whoosh*

Daniel dipped under the blow and snapped a sharp left in return. Instinctively, Jason tore his hand free and stepped back, widening the distance between them.

"Hm... You’re not that bad, actually," Jason said evenly. "Come on... show me more."

For a moment, Daniel didn’t move. He calmly watched Jason’s movements, his eyes steady on him.

Though Jason continued to provoke him, his right hand rested near his chin while his left hovered slightly farther out.

"What’s wrong, tough guy? Haven’t you had your mother’s milk? Or did she, heh... never feed you?" Jason taunted.

Daniel absorbed the taunts without a flicker of reaction.

Both were calm and patient. One provoked with words — Jason; the other provoked with silence — Daniel. Yet it was Jason who lost his patience first, charging at him.

*Whoosh*

Daniel dodged his punch.

*Whoosh-Whoosh-Whoosh*

He continued slipping and weaving through Jason’s strikes, moving as if he could predict every pattern with just a flick of muscle.

Frustration boiled in Jason; no matter how fast or hard he tried, he couldn’t land a single blow — and the worst part was that Daniel remained unshakably right in front of him.

"What’s happening? Why aren’t my punches working?" Jason muttered to himself.

Daniel’s reflexes were lightning-fast, and his dodges — precise. The boost in his dexterity made him move like a phantom — impossible to hit.

As Jason pressed on, determined to land a single blow, he tripped on a rock and lost his balance. Just then, Daniel kicked him in the stomach, sending him rolling until he slammed into a cement cross.

*Thud*

"Agh... ouch," Jason groaned, clutching his side as pain shot through him.

But within a second, Jason’s eyes shot upward, and he sprang to his feet, exhaling sharply. Daniel remained calm, closing the distance between them.

Then, with no hesitation, Jason lunged forward toward him.

Jason shot a punch straight at Daniel’s face, but Daniel was ready to toy with him again. As Jason’s fist gained momentum, he stopped just in time and flicked sand into Daniel’s eyes.

"Mm!" Daniel hissed, blinking as the sand stung his eyes.

For a moment, Daniel couldn’t help but rub his eyes, and Jason seized the dirty opportunity, grabbing his wrist and driving a headbutt straight into Daniel’s forehead.

*BANG*

Jason shoved Daniel with such force that he tumbled, skidding across the rough path. Minor cuts and scratches appeared on Daniel’s left arm as he cleared his vision.

’Just like in battlefield, anything can be useful if it gives you the upper hand,’ Jason murmured as he walked toward Daniel.

At the same time, Banick entered the graveyard and saw a man lying on the ground, his face partially hidden by a black cloth, with Jason moving toward him.

"Jason!" he shouted, raising his arm.

...

At the Nancesmith,

"Father, when did you get this letter?" Jason asked, panting from the effort of lifting the metal bars.

Nolan paused, clutching a wooden box of nails and other metal supplies. "Uhm... a few minutes ago, your friend came looking for you and asked me to give you this letter."

Hearing that, Jason waited patiently for his father to turn away, then instantly jogged off, clutching the letter tightly as he ran.

"Son! Come back! Agh, not again," Nolan shouted.

but it was too late, Jason had already disappeared.

Midway, he slowed and glanced back over his shoulder.

"Great, Father isn’t catching me," he whispered, gasping for air.

As Jason put some distance between himself with his father’s shop, he noticed Banick standing by the grocery stall, holding a woven basket.

Coincidentally, Banick’s eyes landed on him as well.

Banick approached, narrowing his eyes. "Where are you going, Jason?"

"I guess Kyle has found the guy who beat our friend, Look," Jason said, showing him the letter.

Banick skimmed the letter quickly.

"Are you coming with me?" said Jason.

Banick lifted his chin. "Umm... I got to buy groceries for home, and maybe I have to help father with his..."

"Just say you’re lazy, Banick," he said, turning away and snatching the letter from his hand.

"I’m not!" Banick scowled and turned. ’But why would Kyle write a letter, specifically for Jason?’

...

Daniel slowly rose to his feet, blinking and squinting as he cleared the grit from his eyes, irritation flickering across his face.

Jason lifted his right arm and pointed at Daniel, silently warning Banick that the figure between them was the real danger.

Banick’s eyes darted around, and he snatched a palm-sized rock from the ground before charging toward Daniel.

He was about to be sandwiched by Jason and Banick.

"This is for Kri—"

*Grab-THUD!*

As Jason prepared to throw another heavy punch at Daniel’s face, Daniel slipped past his swing, grabbed Jason by the neck with a firm grip, and lifted him into the air for a moment before slamming him hard onto the rough ground.

"Argh..." Jason groaned as the back of his head hit the ground, his eyes squeezed shut and teeth clenched tight.

Banick slowed for a second, then sprinted forward with the intention of smashing Daniel’s head with the rock he held in his right hand.

"Jason!!" Banick yelled.

But Daniel had been waiting for this moment.

"Step back," he whispered under his breath.

*BANG!*

"Huh! I’m sorry Jason. Where did he go?" Banick exclaimed in panic.

"Are you searching for me?" Daniel said from behind, his voice calm but sharp.

Banick felt an ominous unease. He had been certain he hit Daniel in the head, but to his surprise, his hand passed right through him and struck Jason’s forehead with the rock in his hand, making him bleed and causing serious damage.

He turned his head quickly toward the voice behind him, but the moment he did, a punch was already flying at his face. Banick’s eyes went wide as the fist seemed to grow bigger and closer with every instant.

*BANG!!*

The punch sent him crashing to the ground, knocking him out in one shot.

Banick landed on his right shoulder, his body sprawled limply as the blow shattered his nose cartilage, blood immediately streaming from his nostrils.

"Ugh... ahh..." Jason groaned, pressing both palms against his forehead.

Daniel walked over to Jason and grabbed him by the neck, forcing him to stand. Helpless, Jason could only struggle, trying to break free from his grip — but he couldn’t.

*Gasp-Gasp-Gasp*

After forcing him to his feet, Daniel hoisted Jason an inch into the air with a single hand. Jason clutched Daniel’s forearm desperately, gasping for breath, his legs starting to shake.

Then he released his grip without warning.

*THUD*

Jason fell to the ground with a hard thud.

"Argh!!"

*Cough-Cough-Cough*

Daniel watched him crawl on the ground in pain, slow and deliberate. Calmly, he stepped in front of Jason and placed his foot before his face.

Jason lifted his face. "Wh-who are you..." he stammered.

"How about you kiss my feet now," Daniel said, his voice low and commanding.

Feeling humiliated, Jason lowered his gaze and crawled closer, slowly bowing his head over Daniel’s feet and letting a drop of saliva fall onto them.

Disrespect, defiance, and dignity — that was what Jason showed him.

Daniel clenched his teeth. Moving behind him, he dragged his foot across Jason’s clothes to wipe it clean, then delivered kick after kick to the same spot.

...

Minutes later, Jason’s legs trembled violently from the pain. Daniel had kicked the same spot over and over until the skin split, blood seeping through as dark bruises spread across his leg.

Jason’s left hand was broken, making it difficult for him to relieve himself. Then, he delivered one last kick to his face and walked away from the graveyard without looking back.

*BANG*

Daniel intentionally left the gate open. He knew they would soon regain consciousness, limp back to their homes, and then head to the infirmary to be healed completely with Gavina’s help.

But beating them physically was never his true plan. His real intention was to plant fear deep within their minds — and he succeeded.

In the end, Jason couldn’t bear the torment and begged for his life.

That was when Daniel finally stopped crushing his already swollen leg.

...

Meanwhile, at kyle’s house,

"But can you at least tell me his name... Krin!" Kyle demanded.

Krin shook his head violently. "No, no, no... I’m telling you, it’s not worth it. I’m going to the kingdom, and I’ll never come back to this village again."

Krin and Kyle stood facing each other — one trembling with fear, the other demanding answers.

In Krin’s mind, he didn’t want his best friend to get involved in this matter, while Kyle was determined to take revenge on the one who had beaten him.

Kyle placed his hands on Krin’s cheeks, trying to calm him down. "Listen, buddy. Listen to me. It’s alright. We’re home okay... you’re safe here. You call me your best friend, right? Then tell me who did this to you this morning. We’ll hunt him down together with Jason, Banick and don, and I swear, I’ll make him pay twice over for what he did to you."

Krin’s eyes were trembling. "His... his name is—"
