Molex unleashed another bolt of lightning, striking him and shattering his concentration.
"Agh!" Bernard screamed, pain searing through him.
The other shamans spun around, their gazes locking onto Molex.
"Why you!" Bernard shouted, electricity crackling along his arm as he surged forward, ready to strike Molex with a bolt of lightning.
Molex raised his arms, crossing them effortlessly to block the attack.
"Hm!"
*BZZZ~ BOOM*
Daniel slammed his thunderbolt into the incoming projectile, shattering it before it could reach him.
"Daniel! You think you’re some kind of hero or something?!" Bernard barked, his eyes blazing with fury.
Daniel shook his head slightly and replied. "No—but someone’s got to stop you from hitting the wrong target."
Although Bernard’s eyes were fixed on Molex, his lightning veered toward Daniel. Just like before—when he’d tried to strike the Faravark and instead tore through trees—his aim slipped under the weight of his rage.
"Then move out of my way!" Bernard shouted.
Daniel met his gaze, his eyes steady and fearless. "What made you think, that I would listen to you?"
Bernard snarled. "And what made you think... I was asking?"
Both of their gritted their teeth’s, their palms were igniting small sparks as if at anytime they were about to unleash at each other with no mercy.
The other shamans remained silent, as if eager to witness the clash. Beside Daniel, Molex felt a flicker of emotion, believing Daniel had taken his side.
"Stop it, you two!" Belinda said, her voice firm and steady. "Why are you youngsters even fighting in a situation like this?"
Their gazes shifted to Belinda. A tense silence settled among the shamans.
"You," she said, pointing a finger at Bernard. "If you don’t know how to aim, then don’t even try to throw. You need more practice young man."
As they were being lectured amid the chaos, Tridon’s eyes drifted toward their master. Marco was chasing someone, flanked by two other guards.
"Guys, I think master is chasing someone?" said Tridon.
*BOOM!*
The moment he spoke, an explosion tore through the jungle. They all turned to see Marco in pursuit of a white-robed figure, floating through the air as it fled.
"Is that a Niharin?" Molex said, eyes wide.
"It’s a Niharin!" Jerald exclaimed.
"It is!"
*BZZRTT-FWOSSH*
Bernard hurled another bolt of lightning and sprinted north, chasing after the white-robed figure as it fled in that direction.
’I don’t care if my lightning hits trees or the beast,’ Bernard thought as he ran. ’At least it’s hitting something, and how else am I supposed to improve myself if I don’t shoot over and over again.’
A flash of memory struck Daniel, and he broke into a run after the white-robed figure—he wanted to see the Niharin’s face.
"Status," he whispered.
Nothing appeared.
"Tch!" Daniel clicked his tongue.
The shamans left behind sprang into motion, the guards assigned to protect them joining the charge. In the backline, Belinda sprinted forward, already forming another sphere of grass.
*BOOM!-BOOM!*
The Faravarks unleashed their energy blasts at Marco, treating him as their most dangerous target. But before their attacks even reach him, he met their energy blast head-on with his thunderbolt.
As the creatures started charging another attack, the guards exploited the delay in their casting and finished them off with their spears.
The Niharin, running for its life, began casting— a purple runic circle flared into existence midair. It was trying to summon another Faravark, but before the cast could complete, Bernard’s lightning bolt struck, violently interrupting it.
*zzZap!*
’Huh! Who threw that!?’ Marco thought, turning just in time to spot Bernard.
A flicker of pride stirred within him.
*BZZ!-BANG!-BOOM!*
With the support of the two armoured guards, Marco had nearly wiped out the Faravarks. A few tried to flee deeper into the jungle, but Marco caught them with ease, crippling their legs.
*KA-BOOM*
The Niharin was caught in the blast and hurled into a nearby tree—It was Daniel. Instead of striking the creature directly to slow it and interrupt its casting, he had targeted the nearest tree and unleashed his attack—using the explosion to take it down.
Yet Marco didn’t bother to see who had done it, his eyes were fixed on the floating white figure.
"Guards! Spear!" Marco shouted.
The nearest guard hurled his spear with perfect precision, and it landed cleanly in Marco’s hand.
Marco sprang off the trees, sparks flying from his feet as he dashed forward and drove the spear straight into the Niharin’s body—impaling it in a single strike and pinning it against a tree.
"Finally!" Marco murmured under his breath.
The Niharin struggled briefly before dying, its hand clawing at the spear impaled through its body—unable to pull it free.
A trail of blood dripped from the spear, and in the next instant the body ignited on its own.
Daniel’s eyes widened—he couldn’t process why it was burning itself.
"Status," he murmured.
Nothing appeared.
Bernard reached the spot first. A second later, Marco dropped from a tree beside him. Daniel arrived next, and one by one the others gathered, forming a tight cluster around the burning body.
"Earath florea rejuvena" Belinda murmured, scattering her healing magic around them.
"Master, that was so... cool," Jerald said, eyes bright with excitement. "The way you threw that spear."
Marco didn’t say a word, only nodding slightly.
"Master, how did you ignite that body?" Daniel asked, his brow furrowed. "Is that some sort of magic spell you cast on it?"
Marco shook his head, his eyes staring at the body. "I got no idea, Daniel. But everytime I killed them, they always burn on their own."
They stood deep in the jungle, smoke rising from the burning trees around them. Birds scattered overhead, fleeing in every direction.
All eyes were fixed on the burning body while the guards wiped Faravark blood from their spears.
The area was a mess.
"Students, there will be no training for a week. Understood, everyone?" Marco announced.
Every shaman was stunned by the announcement, but they obeyed without question.
"Yes, Master!" They said in unison.
*RUMBLE~ RUMBLE~ RUMBLE~*
