Leveling Up by Defiling Milfs-Chapter 98: Ch: HOPE
"Huh! Huh... huh..." He gasped for air, his chest heaving as though he had been drowning.
Daniel jolted upright in bed. Early morning sunlight was already shining through the window. Sweat soaked his tunic, making it cling to his body in the pale light.
Outside, he could hear wagons rolling past the house, their wheels creaking against the road.
"Agh... what was that dream? It felt real for some reason," he murmured as he got out of bed.
Daniel stepped out onto the balcony and breathed in the fresh morning air. His eyes drifted down to the gate, where a broom with a long handle was leaning against the wall.
A clear sign that Esmeralda had already cleaned the place.
’I’ve more six days left with my life. Will I be able to do it?’ he thought, placing his palm over his left eye.
*Grrr*
Daniel shrugged it off, changed his clothes, and stepped outside, heading straight to the bakery.
The street was already alive with people, milkmen rattling their handcarts along the road to sell fresh milk from the barn.
...
"I’ll have... two fine loaves and a glass of milk, sir," he said calmly.
The baker nodded with a warm smile. "In just a minute, young man."
Daniel sat calmly at his usual table by the window, his hands folded beneath his chin. His eyes drifted outside, watching people smile and walk by.
"Here you go, young man," the baker said, handing him the tray of food.
Daniel took it calmly, picked up a biscuit, and glanced at it.
"The biscuits are free, young man," the baker said.
"I know, sir, and I really appreciate your kindness," he replied, taking a bite.
*Nom*
The baker was always generous to his loyal customers, often handing out free biscuits as he pleased. Daniel ate his meal with a flat expression.
The baker noticed it.
"What happened, young man? You look sick," he said, his brows furrowing with concern.
Daniel raised his chin and looked him in the eyes. "Huh? Me, sick? No... no, sir. I’m just hungry."
The baker chuckled.
"Hehe... well, young man, you look... sick. I recommend that you visit Gavina. She’s a well-known healer in this town," he said before leaving Daniel alone.
*Nom*
Suddenly, an idea sparked in his mind.
’Hmm... a healer, he says. Wait... is that it?’ He froze, chewing slowly.
Daniel recalled the moment when Belinda healed his training’s painful injuries. Hearing the baker’s words, he regained a small spark of hope in his chest.
...
Before leaving the bakery, Daniel asked carefully about Gavina’s whereabouts. The baker told him she lived on the east side of town.
He also added that almost everyone knew her, so finding the place would not be difficult. Daniel could simply ask anyone along the way.
*Thud*
He stepped outside the bakery and saw Harry, setting up his stall. Five people had already walked past him, smiling and saying something as they went.
Daniel approached calmly, raising an eyebrow for a second. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Hello, sir. How is business going?" he asked calmly.
Harry turned and replied with a neutral expression. "It’s going decent."
"Well, how much did you make yesterday?" Daniel asked.
"Umm... around ninety silver and a few copper coins," Harry said, though the words carried a quiet lie.
"I mean... ninety silver for a day isn’t that bad," Daniel replied, a slight, nervous grin tugging at his lips. "Well, have a great day, sir."
Daniel walked eastward, his movements calm as he asked strangers for directions. Step by step, he went deeper into the eastern side of town.
Everyone told him the same thing, it was a simple white house with a signboard near the wall, her name written clearly on it.
But when he arrived, the gate was chained shut with a heavy iron lock.
"Are you serious?" he whispered, touching the cold metal.
"Excuse me, sir," he said, raising a hand to stop a passerby. "Do you know where Lady Gavina is?"
"I have no idea, young man," the man replied before turning away.
One after another, Daniel asked the passersby about her, but none of them gave a clear answer. Some said she might be out shopping. Others guessed she was still asleep.
But seriously, why would anyone chain their gate for something so simple?.
He waited near her gate, hoping someone would give him some information. After a while, a lady noticed him standing there and approached.
"Are you here for Gavina?" the lady asked calmly.
Daniel turned his gaze toward her. She wore a blue gown with an orange surcoat, secured at the waist by a black leather belt.
A lapis-colored hat rested neatly on her head, casting a soft shadow over her face. Her figure was slim, with only faint love handles barely visible beneath her dress.
"Yes, I’m here for Lady Gavina," Daniel replied calmly.
"Status," he murmured, eyes fixed on her.

"For your information, Lady Gavina will arrive in two weeks," she said softly.
Daniel’s eyes widened. "What?! Two weeks?"
Pomia nodded softly. "Yes, and her door opens in the afternoon, not in the morning."
A moment of silence passed between them. She turned to leave, but Daniel stopped her before she had taken two steps.
"Umm... where can I find her?" he said with a curious expression.
Pomia’s hand shot up, her finger brushing her chin. "If... you want to meet her, then... she’s at the Arcane Village infirmary."
"Arcane village?" Daniel asked.
"Yes," she replied, then turned and left.
’Then, what am I doing in this Town?’ he thought. ’And it’s been a long time, since I have fun with mom. I should buy some meat and head home."
Without overthinking, Daniel made his way home, his steps steady and deliberate, clinging to the hope that he might find something to ease the pain.
Something like a painkiller.
