Life In The Limelight : I Married A Gamer Girl-Chapter 20: Couple Input
Chapter 20 - Couple Input
The gaming event was in full swing, with cosplayers, fans, and developers buzzing with excitement. Kazuma and Masako's booth was already one of the main attractions, but Masako had a surprise in store to make it even more memorable.
Kazuma was busy setting up their demo stations when he heard Masako clear her throat dramatically behind him. "Dear," she called, her voice carrying a playful lilt.
Kazuma turned around to see her standing there in full costume, her golden eyes alight with mischief. She was dressed as one of Morin Rock's most iconic characters—a sleek, rogue-like warrior with intricate armor and bold details. The costume was stunning, from the fine stitching to the small accessories that perfectly matched the character's in-game design.
Kazuma blinked, stunned. "Masako... did you make that?"
"Of course I did," she said proudly, spinning to show off the entire outfit. "But that's not all." She held up a second costume and smirked. "This one's for you."
Kazuma stared at the outfit in her hands. It was another Morin Rock character costume, designed with striking colors and flowing fabric. "You made me a costume too?" he asked, his light blue eyes widening.
"Absolutely," she said, thrusting the outfit toward him. "And you're wearing it. No excuses!"
Kazuma sighed, though he couldn't help but smile. "You're relentless, sweetie."
"That's what makes me fun," Masako teased. "Now, get changed! The fans are going to love it."
Moments later, Kazuma emerged from the changing area, feeling slightly awkward but impressed by how well the costume fit. Masako's craftsmanship was impeccable, and the design suited him perfectly. As they walked back to the booth, fans immediately noticed and flocked to take pictures with them.
"You look amazing, dear," Masako said, grinning as she adjusted his cape.
"I feel like I'm in one of our games," Kazuma admitted, smiling despite himself. "You really outdid yourself with these."
Masako beamed. "Of course! I figured it'd be fun to bring our characters to life. And look at how much the fans love it!"
Indeed, their booth became even more popular as fans lined up to snap photos with the creators in full costume. Kazuma couldn't help but feel a swell of pride, both for Masako's creativity and for how much the fans appreciated their work.
Later that evening, after they returned home, Masako was still buzzing with excitement from the day's events. As Kazuma prepared a simple dinner in the kitchen, she sat at the table, sketching furiously in her notebook.
"Dear, I've been thinking," she said, tapping her pencil against her chin. "We should add a cooking mechanic to Spirit Walker. Something where the player gathers ingredients and prepares meals to restore energy or gain buffs."
Kazuma glanced over at her, raising an eyebrow. "A cooking mechanic, huh? That could work. But it depends on how well it fits into the gameplay."
Masako grinned, her golden eyes sparkling. "Exactly! And I think it could be a fun, immersive feature. You know, like those little moments of calm amidst the action."
Kazuma nodded, intrigued. "Alright, sweetie. Show me what you've got."
Over the next few days, Masako threw herself into designing the cooking mechanic. She sketched out recipes, brainstormed ingredient systems, and even drafted animations for the process. But when it came to making the feature realistic, things didn't go as planned.
"Okay," she muttered one afternoon, staring at her notes. "If the player burns the food, should it cause damage to their health? Or just reduce its effectiveness?"
Kazuma, seated nearby, couldn't help but chuckle. "You're overthinking it, Masako. It's a game—it doesn't have to follow real-world logic."
"But it's more fun if it's realistic!" she insisted, flipping through her notes. "Like... what if the player has to chop the vegetables just right, or the dish won't turn out?"
Kazuma smirked. "Then they'll spend more time cooking than actually playing the game."
Masako huffed, crossing her arms. "Fine. Maybe I'll simplify it. But I still want it to feel authentic!"
To get a better feel for the mechanic, Masako decided to test out her ideas in their own kitchen. She tried following one of her in-game "recipes," which led to a series of hilarious mishaps. At one point, she accidentally added sugar instead of salt, and later, she nearly burned the pan while trying to "simulate" an in-game mistake.
Kazuma walked in to find her fanning the smoke detector with a dish towel, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "Well," he said, trying not to laugh, "I think we've discovered why we don't make games entirely realistic."
Masako glared at him, though the corners of her lips twitched upward. "Don't say a word, dear."

"I wasn't going to," Kazuma replied, his light blue eyes sparkling with amusement. "But maybe we should simplify that cooking mechanic after all."
Masako sighed dramatically, leaning against the counter. "Fine. But only because you're right. Again."
Kazuma smiled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "That's why we make such a good team, sweetie."
She grinned, leaning into him. "Yeah, yeah. Now help me clean this up before I set something else on fire."
Despite the chaos, Masako's idea for the cooking mechanic eventually took shape, becoming a charming and creative feature that fit seamlessly into Spirit Walker. And while her initial experiments may not have gone smoothly, she and Kazuma couldn't help but laugh about it later, knowing that every misstep brought them closer to creating something truly special—both in their games and in their lives together.
