Chapter 50: Good News!

"Hey, why is my son taking so long? Did something happen to him?"

Outside the Dawnreach Plaza, beneath the pale glow of the moonlight, three figures stood together, gazing at the massive archway of the Genesis Rift Dungeon.

It seemed that time inside and outside the dungeon was synchronized, for night had already fallen beyond its gates.

"No. Didn’t you hear? He entered the Awakening Altar with the Third Princess. He should be all right."

Cedric looked at his wife speechlessly. This was the nth time she’d asked the same question. Although he was a little anxious himself, could she calm down for just a second?

"But they also said he took the test, and even took down that guy called Hugo with one punch. The Lionheart family has already come to complain. When did he become so strong? Why don’t I know about this?"

Seraphine was relentless, continuing to babble without caring how exasperated her husband looked.

"Screw the Lionheart family or whatever. Just because we’re new nobility, they didn’t care and tried to hurt my son, and now they have the nerve to complain?"

"Just wait... do they really think my Goldveil family is weak?"

When the topic shifted to the Lionhearts, Cedric suddenly grew furious, unconsciously emitting a fierce warrior’s aura.

By now, many people had already left the dungeon.

While talk of who had awakened which class buzzed everywhere, the popular topic on everyone’s lips was actually Lucien.

People were talking about how he managed to pass the test and even defeated Hugo with a single punch.

Cedric and Seraphine already knew everything.

"Sigh... I don’t care about them. I just hope that Lucien could awaken a class. If he couldn’t even with the Awakening Altar, he had no hope."

Seraphine didn’t care about Cedric’s outburst, but said with deep worry. Cedric, too, calmed down as he realized that maybe it wasn’t a time to get angry.

Their family’s condition hadn’t been good recently, and getting into any conflict was the last thing he wanted.

"Who has no hope?"

Right as Seraphine was voicing her worries and starting to glance toward the plaza, a gentle male voice interrupted her.

"Lucien?"

Seraphine saw her tall son standing there with a smile, and the weight in her chest finally eased.

"Yeah."

Lucien nodded at both his father and mother and asked with a smile,

"What are you two doing here gossiping like girls?"

"Why are you so late? I thought something happened to you."

Seraphine didn’t care about his teasing. She gently caressed his hair, her gaze soft and full of relief.

"Yeah, don’t you know we’ve been standing here waiting for you? Your mother’s been chewing my ears off."

Cedric also laughed and directly slapped Lucien’s shoulder reflexively.

"Ouch..."

Only, this time, the one grinning in pain wasn’t Lucien but him.

"What the heck is with your shoulder?"

Cedric caressed his hand as if acting like he was hurt while scolding his son.

"Come on, you are an Arcanist Realm Warrior. And you are the one who beat me in the first place."

Lucien rolled his eyes while swiftly removing the Stonewall Barrier around his shoulder.

He was already on guard against this old man who had the habit of slapping his shoulder. Now he knew it would hurt.

"Lucien, you are an Earth Mage?"

Seraphine, who witnessed everything, suddenly mumbled from the side, her eyes wide with surprise and excitement.

"Earth Mage? Oh, so that’s why..."

Cedric also noticed the presence of earth magic on Lucien, realizing what had just happened.

"Yeah, I managed to awaken as a Mage."

Lucien smiled, feeling good that he had someone to share good news with in this life.

Honestly, he felt quite blessed to have such caring parents; more reason to protect them from harm.

"That’s good. Haha... my son is a mage, just like me. Now that’s my son."

"Haha... okay, okay, it doesn’t matter what affinity and strength you have, as long as you managed to awaken your class."

Seraphine mumbled in extreme excitement, reflexively ruffling Lucien’s hair, causing it to go bad.

"Yeah, as long as you are awakened, it is fine. Everything else can be dealt with wealth."

Cedric also smiled with a big grin, with a faint glint in his eyes. His shoulder relaxed as if a heavy weight had been lifted off it.

Lucien saw that both his father and mother only cared that he awakened a class.

Well, his mom was a little excited that he awakened as a Mage, but that’s it.

They seemed to care that he awakened a class, and that was enough.

"Well, we can talk about this later. For now, let’s return. I have something to discuss with you two."

Although he wanted to ask why they were so relaxed about his future, he had other pressing concerns to attend to.

"Garrick, ready the Golden Cartier. We are leaving."

So, he directly ordered Garrick, who had been standing silently at the side from the beginning.

"Yes, young master."

Garrick immediately bowed and left as per the order.

"Hmm? Something to discuss? What is it?"

Cedric saw his son’s serious look for the first time in his life and asked.

Seraphine, too, had already noticed that after going through the Genesis Rift dungeon, Lucien seemed to have changed somehow.

It was as if he had found his resolve, a deep, unshakable one.

A human with a purpose always carries a different aura.

Lucien was no exception, as both his parents sensed the shift in him at once.

"Nothing much, just related to Grandfather."

Lucien casually replied and walked forward as he saw that his luxurious Golden Cartier was here. He would talk with them properly once they arrived at home.

After all, he didn’t know what that guy Dorian was planning. Not to mention, he still didn’t know who was behind the assassination attempt.

If there was another dark figure...

"Grandfather? Ah, are you worried about him?"

Cedric heard what he said and suddenly smiled along with Seraphine, causing Lucien to get confused.

"Haha... look, our son has grown up. As soon as he gained a little strength, he began worrying about his family."

Seraphine couldn’t help but laugh; her pride was shooting through the roof. This must be the best day of her life.

"Don’t worry about your Grandfather. He has already awakened from his coma."
