Limitless The Strongest Revenant-Chapter 891: Heroine Chapter: Swept away [2/2]
Funnily enough, Hellsend was already operating on levels beyond the scope of history and common sense. The best example of this was the two with us. Bella and Robyn, humans who knew nothing of Hellsgate when they were alive, were now engrossed in the discussion of Descendants.
"Hmm. I think it because of {Interpret}. Without it we would have only killed Roach and Juno. Well, more like Honey is crazy to even try to talk to them. I still have doubts but as they can be offed with {Kill Switch} we should let the matter rest for now."
"Hmph. Why bother focusing on that shit? Didn’t Possum do something awesome? He is already having them train with Hellsend. If he puts them in squads, soul collapses will no longer be an issue. The cunts would be like a malice doctors."
The ramifications of what Robyn commented then were true. With the introduction of Juno and her army, the biggest hurdle to reclaiming Antarctica was cleared. Suddenly what seemed like a fallacy slowly began to feel tangible.
Yet my man did not stop think it was enough. He met with Zach and negotiated to gain the rights to buy even more human made weapons. While I was American, prior to meeting my Dearest I never took pride in our military.
It was only after I saw their unbelievable destructive capabilities in Hellsgate did that change. My mind finally understood something my {Kindred} had seen long ago.
From the tanks and howitzers to even the drones. If we could unleash humanity’s full potential for war in Hellsgate, even reclaiming Antarctica was possible. The more I researched the military platforms of North America, the more I grew impressed.
’What would type of destruction would an AC 130 or B52 Stratofortress unleash on undead legions? Would even Rank A’s be able to retaliate from being shelled to death by Howitzers or HIMARs from miles away?’
And all this was not even counting the insane pace the Sirens were growing. Even now we were all working hard. Currently Liv, Jas and I were discussing with the Hellsend officers. The three of us stayed behind to prepare for our {Kindred’s} return trip.
[My ladies, please be advised, after a hard battle with over 500,000 Hellsborn, Lady Jo has ascended to a Specter. The battle has ended with no casualties on our side. My lord is now on his way Ethiopia to acquire information about the Successors.]
"Pfft! What? Already? How is that even possible?" I spat my coffee in disbelief.
Not even two weeks has passed since I became one. Yet Josephine Benelli Smith had already caught up to me! I mean, I gave them an account of my own experience, but I never imagined that the Italian could catch up to me this fast.
"Haha. How wonderful. You have worked really hard Jo," her sister chuckled.
It was ridiculous that she was not even surprised. I felt bitter at her reaction. Was no one but I surprised at the insanity of that European? I looked to Liv and saw another reaction I didn’t expect.
"Ugh. She beat me to it. Hmph! I wanted to be the 2nd one. I have to do my best to be the 3rd! Wait for me Beloved, I will break my back if I have to, I will become join Lilly and Jo soon!"
Few knew the cost needed to grow as Reaper. Souls was needed yes and given how much we killed we easily already had millions stored in our rings. There was another cost to ascending. It was basically to kill parts of you to change.
To a common Reaper, it took months to become one of the few Phantoms. Decades were needed to level up in rank. of that minority even fewer manage to become Specters. Mostly because upon reviving, most people still cling on to their pasts as humans.
Ascending in essence was to slowly kill and forget your origins. That was the insight I gained after I stepped into the realm of Specters. To become a Phantom, humans needed to forget their morals, conscience and give into their desires.
This meant, to never be satisfied with what you have and want more. Each level up or evolution required a wish or desire. That was what it meant to be a Phantom. Those without a sense of morals or were hedonists hardly had issues with this step.
However, the next leap was different. The requirement for Specters was basically to throw who you were away. To forget who and what you were, who you loved, who you hated, even the very things that gave shape to you.
It was terrifying. Without those how would you even know if you would be pleased or happy with happened after? It was like becoming someone, or something else. Without a great enough reason, few would risk it. It didn’t matter much as we were still young.
But decades, centuries even millennia afterwards. What would you even live for? Who would you live for? Why would you even want to live further? This had happened to Gareth and his group. Such was going to be our future. But I knew it in my mind. The Sirens had no such hesitations.
’Yet, I could imagine Jo not giving a single concern to losing herself. As my sister she is one of the few whose love for Dearest rivals even mine,’ I pondered.
"Uhm, sorry? What do you mean Lady Freyja?" Yvonne asked.
The ones around us, noticed the sudden change in demeanor by the Hammer team. Phillip, Carlos, Herman, and the rest even Juno waited in curiosity for an answer.
"Ah, sorry, I was distracted. It’s nothing much. Exa just shared an update. Beloved’s party just finished a battle with over 500,000 demonkin with zero casualties. And that Vela has already ascended to become a Specter," Liv shared overflowing with pride.
Much like me, the offices of Hellsend who heard all made faces in several distinct emotions.
Confusion and disbelief.
"Holy fuck! Are you certain my lady?"
"Maybe Exa is mistaken? That can’t be true! Didn’t they just leave a few hours ago?"
Pride and Hope.
"Hahaha! As expected of big sis! Claire! We need to catch up!"

"Wow. The Sirens are all formless right? If they can do it, then I am sure we can do it too!"
And finally Fear.
"Just what kind of monsters are in this group? Oy Carlos, say something! It took me five decades to become a Specter! She has to be lying! How does that even make any sense?"
Jas walked up to Herman and suddenly slapped him in the face. The sharp crack forced everyone in the room to turn towards her. Dazed, the South American gingerly touched his cheeks in disbelief.
"Listen Herman Fernández, I will only say this once. Husband may coddle your disrespect, but I will not. Insult my man or my sisters in front of me again and next time I will put a bullet to all of your soulgems."
After saying her piece, she promptly returned back to her seat. No one had the guts to stop her.
’Goodness the race for Dearest’s number one is so tiring. Just when I thought, I could relax a bit the others won’t even let me rest,’ I thought while chuckling.
Due to Jas’ severe display of authority the tension in the room could be cut with a knife. This woman was a certainly a loner. Just who would follow a leader that blatantly threatens her people? Feeling I needed to take control of the situation I stepped in.
"Alright everyone. While that news was quite juicy, let’s all get back to work. But do know this. In order to see the end of this train we are on we all have to keep up. Otherwise, we will be swept away by the tide of change. Now… Regarding the plan…"
