"Tsk. Even the .50 Cal needs over two hundred. Grenades are even weaker than rifles? Come on Exa, this list is bullshit."

[My lord, the question itself is flawed. The list is accurate when all you want is to generate the required kinetic energy. However, distance, bullet weight, and speed affect penetration. Slower bullets, like the .500 S&W Magnum, are more powerful. But faster rounds, like the .30-06, pierce better. The 40mm has the same issue.]

"What? Why? Doesn't a 40 mm grenade hurt?"

[Majority of the power of a 40mm comes from its secondary explosion. If you try to break a demonkin's armor with grenade fragments, you need more grenades. And if you use the kinetic energy prior to detonation, it is just a really slow bullet.]

"Okay, then why aren't the 95mm rockets in this list?"

[A 95mm already leaves the range of small arms. I believe you goal was to experiment with small arms first, correct?]

"Fine, let us try your theory."

"grrrruuhhh…"

The demonkin below my heel tried to pull its body, but it obviously lacked the energy to move. Still, I didn't even need it to be able to move.

"{Shelter}. {Float}. {Shelter}."

I used Liv's {fate} and created a {Shelter} construct around the Demonkin's body. As if it merged with a large square plate, I used {Float} to raise it into the air, then created a {Shelter} base to keep it level. I made sure to add a neck brace to keep its head steady.

"Hmm. Can I even create 219 M107s?"

[You should be able to, my lord. Your current upper limit when operating only one avatar should be 300. It decreases to half that if you have your other avatars operating.]

"Guess that's fair. I can just switch back. [Heavy Gunner]. M107."

As the souls in my body changed positions, I lost the color-coded vision of [Gladiator]. In exchange, I felt the soul in my body connecting to my {Armory}. Unlike the other Disciplines, [Heavy Gunner] had a deeper connection to my void spaces. It was as if I were one with them.

I pulled back the charging handle of the massive .50 Cal rifle in my hands. I pressed the butt stock on my shoulder and took aim at the demonkin's head. The head was still green earlier, so I needed a colossal amount of kinetic energy to break this fucker's head.

"Right. Exa, give me 219 M107s. Aim them exactly at the point I am going to shoot."

[Understood.]

I placed my eye inside the scope and positioned the crosshairs right on the middle of the demonkin's face. I felt a surge of souls gush out of me. As I had my eyes trained on the target, I didn't know if the guns around me were already there.

"Well, here goes nothing."

With such a lame statement, I exhaled and pulled the trigger. The inner workings of the rifle clicked and began the process of sending down an angry bullet. A moment later, a burst of light erupted from my barrel.

Still keeping my eyes on the target, I then heard a slight tremor in the air. And on the target, I saw hundreds of .50 Cals all come together to meet the one I fired. In the next moment, an explosion of blood erupted, and the entire head of the demonkin, along with its neck, was gone.

"SCIENCE BITCH!"

Seeing the destruction and the blood raining down, I grew satisfied. The smell of gunpowder from over two hundred M107s turned the air acrid. A sharp smell, like burnt plastic or sulfur, wafted where I stood. It had a metallic undertone.

I quickly took my eye from the scope and unloaded the magazine. I removed the rounds and used {Bestow} to give them {Restore}. When I gave my {Kismet} to all five of the bullets in the magazine, I placed them back.

"Oh wait, I need a piece of its brain in one piece, right?"

[I have highlighted a splatter of brain matter on the remaining torso. That should be enough to start the {Restore} process.]

"Got it."

Moving to snipe the smear on the chest, I took aim and then fired. A dull thud caused the headless torso to vibrate a bit. Then, as if the bloody strings of meat gained sentience, they began to piece themselves together.

"Exa, this is too slow."

[I understand. Please shoot the points I will highlight. That would significantly speed up the process.]

"Thanks, Exa. You're the best."

Targets appeared in my vision. It was similar to the reticules that highlighted stuff in RPGs. Once again, shouldering my weapon, I pulled the trigger. The dull kick on my shoulder, a sharp bang along with the scent of gunpowder, was all I knew for a few minutes.

As if in a trance, I just kept shooting as I emptied my mind. Only for Exa to call my attention afterwards.

[My lord, the Demonkin, has fully regenerated.]

Taking off my eye from the scope, I saw the now complete demonkin, although he was still tied up against the {Shelter} construct I had hung him from.

"YOU FUCKING STUPID BASTARD! YOU HEALED ME! I WILL BUTCHER YOU AND MASSACRE EVERYTHING YOU LOVE! I AM GOING TO…"

"Exa, can you turn the volume down?"

The moment I asked, the voice of the demonkin quieted to barely above a whisper. Which was funny as it looked like he was shouting his head off.

"Right! Time to do more experiments! Exa. We will now see if this thing has a body similar to that of a human being."

[I understand. But wouldn't experimenting on the malice and soul be better?]

"Huh? What do you mean?"

[I believe I have found out what the difference is between monsters, undead, and the demonkin. It is based on how they use malice on their bodies.

"Oh? How did you figure it out?"

While you were analyzing the Demonkin, I had Lady Robyn use [Gladiator] on Juno. Seeing the differences in their flow allowed the Sirens and me to narrow down the differences. Lady Lilly has verified our findings using [Gladiator] on Lady Jo's pet undertakers.

"Wait? Jo still has pet undertakers? Didn't I kill them all?"

[Focus my lord. Is Lady Jo's fondness for using zombies really that important right now?]

"Yeah, you're right. Sorry, Exa. Please tell me their findings."

[There are differences between breeds, but here are the rules in general. Undead have a single or multiple malice cores in their bodies. They allow malice to pass through the cores freely like a stream. Their cores do not grow bigger but improve the rate at which malice passes through.]

[Monsters also contain many cores in their body; but they have a main core that grows as they develop. They also appear to have store malice in great amounts for their next evolution and reproduction in their cores.]

[Finally, demonkin do not have cores but wrap malice around their bodies like a suit. Whenever they are attacked, the malice shields their bodies. It is only after they lose the ability to use malice that their bodies become vulnerable.]

"That's great. Now tell me. How do I kill them?"
