Chapter 202: Chapter 202: The Secret Revealed

As Silas Sutton finished speaking, a trace of astonishment flashed in Stella Grant’s eyes.

Immediately, the atmosphere in the bedroom was both ambiguous and silent.

Their eyes met; Silas Sutton watched as the emotion in Stella Grant’s clear eyes shifted from shock to bewilderment, his thin lips curling slightly, "You don’t believe me?"

Stella was dumbfounded for a moment, furrowing her brows, "And before?"

Silas straightforwardly said, "I don’t want to marry Charlotte Shelby."

Charlotte was too persistent with him.

His refusal was ineffective on her, so he could only provoke Mr. Shelby while selecting a grandson-in-law.

Additionally, having encountered a few unscrupulous business partners occasionally, he played along, and thus his playboy reputation spread.

After Silas finished speaking, seeing that Stella remained silent, he strode to the bed, leaning over with his hands planted on it. Due to the force used, his arm muscles were tightly tensed, "Stella Grant, can you tell me what your expression means? Surprise? Astonishment? Or is it fear?"

Silas’s sudden approach made Stella instinctively lean back.

But for every inch she retreated, he advanced two.

Until finally, their noses touched. Stella’s breathing became slightly tense, "Silas Sutton."

Silas teased her, "Are you scared?"

Stella pressed her lips together. After a few seconds, she reached out to push him, "I’m hungry."

With that, Stella slipped out from the gap between Silas’s arms.

Seeing this, Silas chuckled deeply.

Upon leaving the bedroom, Stella went to the bathroom to wash her face.

As cool water splashed on her face, Stella’s previously turbulent heart gradually calmed down.

It was the first time for him, and for her as well.

Very fair.

No one owed the other anything.

As Stella stood with both hands on the basin, self-assuring, she suddenly heard Silas in the bedroom talking, seemingly on the phone.

"Did he go to Zeke Adler’s house?"

"Did you send someone to follow him?"

"Understood, call me if there’s any update."

Silas hung up and walked out of the bedroom just as Stella emerged from the bathroom.

As they met eyes, Stella couldn’t hold back her question, "Who went to my uncle’s place?"

She already had a suspicion in her heart, but she needed Silas to confirm the truth.

Silas lowered his eyes to look at her, "Your..."

Contemplating his words, Silas eventually chose a different term, "Uncle." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Stella’s expression shifted slightly, "My dad?"

Silas confirmed, "Yes."

Stella pursed her lips, her hand at her side clenched tightly.

Meanwhile, over at Zeke Adler’s place.

Kenneth Grant had just entered Zeke’s house and was already in a furious outburst.

Zeke moved forward to calm him, "Brother-in-law, alright, alright, take it easy."

Saying this, Zeke turned his head to signal Lily Harrison with his eyes.

Lily wore an expression of displeasure and turned to pour tea, muttering under her breath, "If you’re so capable, why don’t you use that on your precious daughter instead of causing a scene here."

Lily’s voice wasn’t deliberately lowered, clearly intended for Kenneth Grant to hear.

Upon hearing this, Kenneth’s already dark face grew even more grim, "You have the nerve to speak? If you hadn’t given my contact information to Stella, would she even be able to reach me?"

Lily walked over to the coffee table with the teacup and set it down with a ’clink,’ "Brother-in-law, your words are really interesting. Stella is your biological daughter; isn’t it only natural for a daughter to want to find her father?"

Kenneth was rendered speechless by Lily’s retort.

Lily sneered, continuing, "Besides, you’ve enjoyed yourself all these years outside, while my sister and Stella have been toiling at home, repaying your debts. You shouldn’t be so heartless, right?"

Lily’s words were always unpleasant, and seeing Kenneth about to burst with rage, Zeke feigned a disapproving slap on the coffee table, "Could you say a little less? Brother-in-law’s come back just this once."

Lily, having achieved her goal of irking Kenneth, snorted lightly and returned to the bedroom.

Once Lily left, Zeke sighed and began pouring out his woes to Kenneth, "Brother-in-law, don’t blame Lily. A few days ago, I was kidnapped and beaten up; I just got out of the hospital..."

Kenneth frowned, "What happened?"

Zeke lowered his voice slightly, "It has to do with that kidnapping case from those years."

At the mention of the kidnapping case, Kenneth’s expression changed drastically.

Noticing Kenneth’s face, Zeke pushed the teacup on the coffee table towards him, "Brother-in-law, about what happened back then, you know, I know, and heaven and earth know; I haven’t even told my sister."

There was no softening in Kenneth’s expression as he took a sip of tea, "It’s not just my sister you didn’t tell about it. Back then, the fifty thousand I gave you for her; did you give it to her?"

Talking about that fifty thousand, Zeke curled his lips, "Brother-in-law, it was wrong of me to not give the fifty thousand to my sister back then, but even if I had, it wouldn’t have helped with all the debts you left..."

Kenneth, "..."

After a pause, Zeke continued, "I can give that money now; it’s more useful than if given back then."

Kenneth didn’t respond, lowering his head to drink tea.

Halfway through his cup, Zeke glanced towards the bedroom, confirming Lily wouldn’t come out, and leaned in to say, "Brother-in-law, if what happened back then is exposed, you and I..."

Kenneth shot him a sideways look, "What does it have to do with me?"

Zeke widened his eyes at him.

Kenneth set down his teacup, took a deep breath, and adjusted his clothes, "I didn’t do anything back then; I barely had time to run away. Don’t falsely accuse me."

Hearing Kenneth’s words, Zeke turned hostile, "Kenneth Grant, don’t push it. Don’t be afraid I’ll tell you now: Silas Sutton has started suspecting that what happened back then involves me. If anything happens to me, I’ll spill everything you did back then."
