Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 219: Cunning Man
Silas Sutton’s fingertip lightly brushed Stella Grant’s red lips for a brief moment.
Stella’s breathing suddenly tightened.
She had to admit, Silas Sutton was skilled at flirting, every time he teased her, he managed to get it just right.
One degree more would be too much, one degree less wouldn’t be enough.
After speaking, Silas Sutton’s fingertip slid from her lips to her chin and held it, the smile in his eyes deepening, "Stella, I’ve suffered much in isolation before, but now that I have you, can you help me? You don’t need to help with anything else, just focus on dealing with Chloe Underwood for me."
He was coaxing her.
Stella was well aware of his little tactics, but the words of refusal stuck in her throat, unable to come out.
The two locked eyes for a long while, then Silas chuckled lightly, "I’ll take that as a yes."
Stella, "..."
Stella was neither willing nor able to accept that implication.
But to refuse later, she found it too petty.
Aunt Adler was adept at observing situations, only emerging from the kitchen once the intimate exchange between the two ceased, placing a plate of boiled fish in front of Stella and serving her a bowl of rice.
No one knew how Silas Sutton felt about the meal, but on Stella’s side, it felt like chewing wax.
After dinner, Stella found a reason to step out, returning to her previous residence to pack some clothes.
Elsewhere, Ben Lawson was swift in his actions, immediately summoning Sue Woods to repay the debt.
Sue sat across from him, bewildered, eyes full of caution, feeling like he was harboring mischievous thoughts, "We just parted, couldn’t you have said it over the phone?"
Ben watched her cross her legs and scratch her brow with her fingertip, "What do you think of Mr. Sutton?"
Sue, "What do you mean?"
Ben, unpracticed at matchmaking, usually only bantered with his brothers face-to-face, struggled to voice words of praise against his conscience, deliberated for a moment, and said, "Actually, Mr. Sutton is quite a good person."
Sue frowned, "What are you really trying to say?"
Ben followed Silas Sutton’s script, "He had a difficult childhood, losing his father in a car accident, and his mother ran away in pursuit of true love, leaving only him and his brother to rely on each other, but then his brother died in a kidnapping case years ago..."
Sue didn’t speak, internally: Sounds tragic, but where is this going?
With no visible reaction from Sue, Ben shifted, uncrossed his legs naturally and leaned forward, "Do you have nothing to say now?"
Ben’s sudden proximity made Sue uncomfortable.
Sue forced a smile, moving back, pretending to ponder deeply before speaking incredulously, "Do you want me to donate money to him?"
Ben, "..."
Sue, "..."
The atmosphere in the living room turned utterly silent the moment Sue uttered those words.
Ben looked at her, took a deep breath, and gave her a thumbs up, "I finally understand why you were tricked out of your job by a two-faced flower."
Sue humbly sought guidance, "Why?"
Ben laughed in frustration with her attitude, "With your level of intelligence, it’s a miracle you’ve made it this far in life."
Sue stared straight at him, even more confused.
After a while, Sue left The Lombard Family’s place, and before getting into the car, she turned towards the villa door and gave a middle finger.
Once in the car, she immediately called Stella.
When the call connected, Sue spoke disdainfully, "Guess what Ben Lawson just asked of me? He was pity-selling Silas Sutton in front of me, I reckon he wants me to say good things about Silas to you."
Stella was busy packing clothes into her suitcase, smiling as she asked, "And then?"
Sue chuckled, "And then? I just played dumb."
Stella asked, "Didn’t he realize you were pretending?"
Sue, "No, given his average understanding, he’s incredibly confident about his looks and intelligence, assuming others are inferior to him is normal."
After speaking, Sue paused and added, "If one day I keep telling you good things about Silas Sutton, it must be because I genuinely believe he loves you and can care for you all his life, it would never be due to someone else’s manipulation."
Stella, "That I would believe."
Sue turned the steering wheel, "Alright, I won’t keep you, I’m heading back."
After hanging up with Sue, Stella continued packing clothes, and while doing so, her phone buzzed on the bed, a message appeared on the screen: Miss Grant, I’m so envious of you having such a wonderful boyfriend like President Sutton, could you please let me have him?
