Little Sorcerer, Divine Doctor-Chapter 1002 - 154: Hand Over the Item
The demon beast merchant, Chang Wei, was shivering as he was rescued onto the skyship.
In all his years as a demon beast merchant, it was the first time he encountered such a perilous situation.
As soon as he boarded the ship, he was told that Yun Sheng had ordered his rescue, and he was overwhelmed with gratitude: "Master... no, I should call you Regent King, I’m so lucky you saved me."
He grabbed Yun Sheng’s hand, tears streaming down his face, yet two cold stares made his spine shiver.
Chang Wei glanced surreptitiously and saw that the owners of the stares were none other than the Emperor of Post Qin, Dugu Xiu, with a darkened face, and undoubtedly the Golden Qilin that had nearly cost him his life earlier. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
This man and beast acted as if he owed them a fortune, and Chang Wei had to sheepishly release Yun Sheng’s hand.
Yun Sheng was no saintly figure; she rescued Chang Wei not because they had met once.
She saved Chang Wei merely to inquire about these sea territories, as well as matters involving the Dragon Soaring and the black box she carried.
Chang Wei was considered the only local from Penglai on this Wuji skyship.
"Chang Wei, I ask you, were the demon plants in the sea earlier native to Penglai?" Yun Sheng had previously dealt with the Tentacle Sunflower, which seemed highly resistant to magic.
Ordinary weapons could hardly damage them, confirming that these were astonishingly reproductive underwater plants.
"No, no, no, I, Chang Wei, dare to swear that these monsters had never appeared here before; the sea was peaceful until today. It’s just too tragic, truly too tragic," Chang Wei said, still somewhat inarticulately.
The sky gradually darkened, and under the twilight glow, the sea, temporarily calmed, still showed the shattered fragments of the Dragon Soaring, with numerous passenger corpses scattered like colorful debris.
Apart from Chang Wei, no other survivors were found on the skyship.
"How much do you know about the Dragon Soaring?" Yun Sheng’s black box lay quietly in her embrace.
The resonating of divine artifacts in the Beast Language Ring had ceased.
Yun Sheng was sure that the black box contained one of the Eight Desolate Divine Artifacts.
But she hadn’t yet had the chance to identify which one specifically.
"Dragon Soaring is a skyship under the Penglai Pavilion, Penglai’s largest shipyard. Ever since the King of Penglai took over, it has flourished, ferrying passengers and various goods. In the last decade, not a single maritime accident has occurred," Chang Wei really knew the situation in Penglai.
Because it belongs to the Penglai Pavilion, effectively a royal-operated skyship, demon beast merchants like Chang Wei felt assured traveling on it.
If it belongs to the King of Penglai, does the black box belong to the King or the Summoning Court?
Yun Sheng pondered.
"Holy Emperor, there are a few summoners approaching up front, claiming that Regent King of Great Zhou has stolen their property," reported the sentry soldier to Dugu Xiu.
In mid-air, a group of summoners appeared, accompanied by several demon beasts ranked between seven and eight, forming a dark mass as they advanced towards Post Qin’s skyship.
The leaders were visibly distinguished, both holding high ranks within the Summoning Court.
One of them was the Seventh Summoner, who had previously clashed with Yun Sheng, alongside another, the Summoning Court Summoner yet unknown to Yun Sheng.
The Seventh Summoner was still bearing injuries; he had disguised himself as the Dragon Soaring’s captain, escorting the black box alongside several summoners from the court.
Although unaware of the box’s contents, the court had spared no effort; the Seventh Summoner had journeyed smoothly and presumed that once entering Penglai Sea, the mission would conclude swiftly.
Who would have known he’d be ambushed by Abyssal Tentacle Sunflower halfway, and then encounter the treacherous Regent King of Great Zhou, losing his Life-bound Holy Mark Magical Beast and almost dying in Penglai Sea?
Fortunately, the Second Main Summoner, waiting at Penglai Port for the expected arrival, noted the hour and the non-arrival of the Dragon Soaring, thus ventured out for rescue, saving the gravely injured Seventh Summoner.
To cover his failure, the Seventh Summoner firmly accused the Regent King of Great Zhou of deceitfully harming others and snatching the black box.
The Second Summoner had earlier received orders from the Red Robe Summoning Emperor regarding the black box, stating it concerned Wuji Continent’s destiny and must be retrieved.
Thus, he and the Seventh Summoner began searching along the coast for the Regent King of Great Zhou and the black box’s whereabouts, unexpected to uncover traces aboard Post Qin’s skyship.
"Ye Beiming! Hand over the black box!" The Seventh Summoner, looked disheveled and compared to Yun Sheng, who showed no signs of injury or even a scratch, felt utterly furious.
"Such impudence; Summoning Court, such insolence indeed. Who permitted you to wreak havoc on my ship? Anyone aboard is under my protection, hence you’ll ask me first," Dugu Xiu’s expression turned cold, ignoring the Summoning Court’s presence outright.
Dugu Xiu’s anger unleashed his fighting spirit without reserve.
In three years, Dugu Xiu’s cultivation had advanced significantly, the Martial Emperor’s overpowering presence was as formidable as the dark clouds looming low; the heavily injured Seventh Summoner couldn’t withstand, faltered, nearly plummeting from the sky.
Were it not for the quick response of the Second Summoner, grabbing his summoner robe, he’d have thoroughly humiliated himself.
Even as a Crown Prince, Dugu Xiu was infamous for his ruthless iron rule; since ascending as the Emperor of Post Qin, he had slightly restrained in warfare these few years, yet his fierce aura was enough to instill dread before any aggression.
What surprised the Second Summoner was the rumored hostile relationship between the Regent King of Great Zhou and Dugu Xiu of Post Qin, now standing united on the same ship, seemingly indicating solidarity.
Could all the rumors be false?
Wasn’t it said that the Emperor and the Regent King were at odds because of a woman...
A subtle arch of the Second Summoner’s brow hinted at recollection; the woman responsible for the strife between the Regent King and the Emperor of Post Qin was presently in the Summoning Court’s Water Prison.
Their simultaneous appearance in Penglai, did they learn of something?
Cautious, the Second Summoner pondered if the matter should be reported to the Summoning Emperor sooner rather than later, as news reaching the King of Penglai could spell trouble.
In truth, neither the woman in the Water Prison nor the black box on the Dragon Soaring was known to the King of Penglai beforehand.
Relations between the King of Penglai and the Summoning Emperor have grown tense; with Dragon Soaring’s disaster, the Second Summoner was uncertain how to account to the King of Penglai.
The Second Summoner dared not face Dugu Xiu head-on.
On Post Qin’s skyship stood two men like upright spears, who could shake Wuji Continent by merely stomping a foot; they were youthful emperors.
Yet, the black box was a vital object, imperative to reclaim.
