Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 251: Surrounded by Giant Wolves
"This unmanned delivery system is quite impressive; our country hasn’t formally implemented it yet," Xu Yi said pensively as he looked at the Flying Ball.
This is only for small package delivery. If it’s for large packages, would there be a bigger Flying Ball?
If it’s big enough, could it even carry people?
Uh, even if it could, the hosts wouldn’t let me do that, what am I thinking?
Xu Yi knocked on his head and shook it.
Lu Ke had already acquired four sets of underwear.
"So stingy, not even giving us a plastic bag," Lu Ke couldn’t help but complain. Besides the underwear, there was nothing, as if they were unwilling to give any extra items to Xu Yi and Lu Ke.
"That’s how capitalists are; it’s something to get used to. But the quality is quite good," Xu Yi said as he glanced at the departing Flying Ball.
"I’ll wash these, dry them, and then we can take a bath," Lu Ke said happily. After all, what she made by hand couldn’t compare to the machine-sewn ones.
Just as Xu Yi mentioned, the quality is indeed very good, and the feel is quite comfortable. In her own world, it would probably be considered high-end.
"Hmm." Xu Yi handed his underwear to Lu Ke and then took some firewood over to the water’s edge to make a fire, which Lu Ke would need to see.
Also, Lu Ke needed protection.
It was already nighttime, and the beasts were starting to come out and forage.
However, it didn’t take long, less than twenty minutes, for the two to return to camp.
Now, a fence was buried around the outside, enough to keep out a black bear. Unless they encountered an animal on the level of a brown bear, it would be hard to break these fences.
Back on the first floor, Lu Ke hung up the underwear to dry, then began weaving a fishing net. Xu Yi continued twisting fine hemp rope for Lu Ke to use in making the net.
An hour later, Lu Ke and Xu Yi went to take a bath one after the other.
"It seems to have gotten colder again; if this continues, it’ll frost over, won’t it?" Lu Ke said worriedly, wrapping her fur coat tighter.
"It’s getting light later and later, isn’t it?" Xu Yi asked, looking at Lu Ke, as he usually woke up late when it was already bright outside.
"Yes, compared to when we first got here, it’s about 20 minutes later," Lu Ke replied.
"That means winter has arrived, and it’s also getting dark faster," Xu Yi remarked, feeling the hair growing on his head.
Will it snow next?
How long will winter last here?
Two months? 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Three months?
Or longer?
Xu Yi thought that cooperation might be needed after 100 days, likely because the weather would be extremely harsh then.
If everything’s covered in thick snow, hunting would become very difficult.
He needed to find ways to catch more live animals; that way, when the snow fell, there’d be enough food stored, and they wouldn’t need to worry about hunger.
Keeping one dairy goat here wasn’t a problem, but if there were more, they’d need to create a new pen nearby. More animals could warm each other and wouldn’t freeze to death.
"Tomorrow night, let’s tan the furs and make you a coat. With the remaining ones, we’ll make a blanket first," Lu Ke suggested. Initially, they planned to tan the furs tonight, but ended up weaving the fishing net instead.
"Alright, tanning it is tomorrow night," Xu Yi agreed. With the campfire inside, the hut wasn’t too cold, and he was sleeping in his clothes anyway.
If it went below freezing and frost appeared, not having furs to cover them would make it unbearable.
Moreover, they would soon head to the seaside and need to stay a night outside; without a fur coat, it would be impossible to spend the night comfortably.
They continued weaving the net until after 11, and most of it was done.
"Lu Ke, it’s about time. You should go to sleep first," Xu Yi said to Lu Ke, ready to take over her work and continue weaving for a while before going to bed.
Lu Ke nodded, knowing they’d need to get up early tomorrow.
"Big White, I’m heading to bed now. Be good and don’t make noise tonight, okay?" she said as she headed upstairs.
If Big White were too noisy, even if it produced milk, Xu Yi might end up killing it.
But it seemed fine; it hadn’t made much noise even after being tied up for so long. Maybe it didn’t sense any danger.
Once Lu Ke went upstairs, Xu Yi glanced at Big White.
He felt his Spiritual Power should recover since he no longer had that dazed feeling.
Thinking for a moment, Xu Yi decided to give up.
Comforting Big White now would be too abrupt, better not to draw the hosts’ attention.
Xu Yi continued weaving for another half hour before going up to sleep.
Big White remained relatively quiet and didn’t make much noise at night, seemingly accepting its fate of being kept.
The night passed peacefully; the next morning, Lu Ke opened her eyes at the usual time.
She glanced at Xu Yi sleeping next to her and couldn’t help but smile sweetly.
After watching for a while, she put on her bra, draped her fur coat over Xu Yi, and then went downstairs.
Downstairs, she saw Big White kneeling and sleeping on the ground, letting out a sigh of relief.
She opened the door and began to make a fire.
Next, she stepped outside to start her indispensable morning training.
After a while, Xu Yi opened his eyes.
"System, check in."
Today was the 72nd day of checking in.
The day of reaching 100 days was getting closer and closer.
He got up and went downstairs.
A new day began, and Xu Yi hoped it would be a fruitful one.
However, this morning wasn’t a pleasant one for Wang Jin and Lu Yao, who were in the same forest.
A pack of predators appeared outside their camp.
A type of predator they hadn’t seen before, Giant Wolves bigger than male lions.
There were about a dozen, circling their camp.
"Sis, what do we do?" Wang Jin asked worriedly, looking at the Giant Wolves outside through the tree hole door.
She had thought the door Lu Yao spent time making was unnecessary, but last night, without it, the Giant Wolves might have entered their tree hole and devoured them.
If it were an ordinary wolf pack, she wouldn’t have been worried. After all, Lu Yao had been training her specially, and her skills had improved significantly.
But these Giant Wolves outside were too large, she felt just one would be tough for her and Lu Yao to handle, let alone more than ten of them.
