Living Only For Myself: Make Those Who Hate Me Regret It-Chapter 135: Susu, I’m Very Obedient
After all, as her roommate and best friend, Huang Feng knew Xu Su’s daily spending habits. She was definitely not the type to be extravagant.
Even though she had received a large scholarship and had some extra money, Xu Su had never changed her spending habits.
"..." To be honest, Xu Su felt the pinch too. After all, her scholarship had to cover her tuition and living expenses, and she would probably have to pay for her own university tuition as well.
’Relying on Xu Weiping and his wife wasn’t a sure thing.’
She remembered her original plan to buy a lottery ticket during the first semester of her sophomore year, which would have taken care of her university tuition. But after she started living at the school dorm, her life became so full, and she rarely went home. She completely forgot all about it.
By the time Xu Su remembered the lottery ticket she needed to buy, the prize had already been claimed... 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
’So, is financial luck something you can’t seize, even if you get to live life over again?’

「On the third day of the Lunar New Year, Xi Zirong’s birthday banquet was held at the Junyue Hotel.」
After Xu Su and Huang Feng met up, the two of them headed to their destination together.
She received two calls from Xi Zirong on the way. Soon after getting off the bus, Xu Su saw him from a distance, standing at the hotel entrance and waiting for them.
He was dressed very formally. The tall, slender teenager was coming of age today.
He wore a well-tailored suit with an overcoat on top due to the cold weather. Standing tall and straight, he looked incredibly handsome—the very picture of a dashing young gentleman.
Huang Feng, holding onto Xu Su’s arm, recognized Xi Zirong and couldn’t help but exclaim in a low voice, "God Xi is kinda handsome! Susu, you’re so lucky!"
"..." Affected by her friend’s blunt words, Xu Su fell silent for a moment.
’She thought of the boy’s affectionate gaze... and his firm, lean abs...’
Before they even got close, Xi Zirong spotted them and immediately walked over. His gaze was warmer than the winter sun.
"Susu, you’re finally here. I was worried you couldn’t find the place and was just about to go pick you up."
Xu Su smiled at him and wished him a happy birthday.
Xi Zirong’s heart warmed, and he reached for Xu Su’s hand, but she pulled away.
Xu Su warned him with a serious expression, "Xi Zirong, today I’m just your classmate. Be mindful of where we are. I don’t want your parents and relatives to get the wrong idea."
’She had no intention of meeting the parents...’
Xu Su had already told him this several times. Xi Zirong pressed his lips together, withdrew his hand, and led them inside.
After echoing Xu Su’s "happy birthday" at the beginning, Huang Feng had been completely silent, quietly enjoying the show.
As they followed Xi Zirong into the hotel, she squeezed Xu Su’s arm and whispered, "God Xi looks so hurt. Susu, you have a heart of stone."
"...?" Xu Su shot her a look. "Be a dear and keep it down."
The elevator arrived at the third floor, and the hall was already bustling with guests.
Xi Zirong led them to the table for his classmates. People kept greeting him along the way, and he responded to each one with the calm demeanor of a capable adult.
Everyone at the classmates’ table was already there; Xu Su and Huang Feng were the last to arrive. Fu Jun was the first to spot Xi Zirong approaching and teased with a grin, "Look who’s here! Now that your sweetheart has arrived, is our dear class president feeling better?"
Fu Jun’s voice wasn’t particularly loud or quiet, but luckily, the venue was noisy, so few people paid attention to the kids’ table. Xi Zirong glanced at him and said impassively, "Fu Jun, watch what you say today."
Xu Su glared at him too.
Startled, Fu Jun made a zipping motion across his lips and immediately went quiet.
The other classmates chuckled and changed the subject.
Xi Zirong sat with them for a short while before one of his relatives called him away.
Before he left, he quietly told Xu Su to relax and enjoy the meal, reminding her not to leave early because there were activities planned for the afternoon.
Once Xi Zirong was gone, Huang Feng finally let loose. She glanced around at the decor, marveling at how well-off their class president’s family must be. "This is the best hotel in N Province."
A single glance across the banquet hall revealed dozens of tables, all fully occupied.
Unlike them in their ordinary attire, the guests at every table looked like highly respectable figures in society.
Fu Jun and Zhou Dongdong, having arrived earlier, knew a bit more. Hearing Huang Feng’s comment, Zhou Dongdong whispered, "Do you guys know what our class president’s parents do for a living?"
Huang Feng’s eyes lit up. "What did you find out? Spill the details."
Seeing her friend get so excited, Xu Su couldn’t help but tug her arm. "You should have just asked me."
’After all, they’d been dating for a while now. Xu Su had at least some idea about Xi Zirong’s family background.’
’At least, she knew more than their other classmates.’
Huang Feng immediately abandoned Zhou Dongdong’s gossip and turned to Xu Su with a sycophantic grin. "Susu, my dearest Susu, hurry up and tell me."
Xu Su rubbed her brow. "His parents are both university professors. Professors at N University, in fact."
N University was the city’s only top-tier university and ranked highly nationwide. Anyone who held a professorship there had an undeniably high social standing. For all they knew, being a professor might even be a side job for them...
The guests invited to Xi Zirong’s birthday party were likely, at a minimum, students his parents supervised—either master’s or doctoral candidates.
Zhou Dongdong wagged his index finger, his face screaming, ’I bet you didn’t know this.’ He whispered, "More than just university professors. I just overheard the table next to us. Someone mentioned a ’Dean Xi.’ I’m guessing Xi Zirong’s dad is probably the dean of a school at N University."
Xu Su raised an eyebrow and simply said, "Oh."
’When Xi Zirong had mentioned his parents’ careers, he’d only said they were both professors at N University.’
’Turns out he was being modest. A university professor and a dean are on completely different levels.’
’So, Xi Zirong comes from a long line of scholars?’
’So outstanding, and so self-disciplined.’
’And he’s even passionate about being a tutor...’
The other classmates at the table were also stunned.
University professors!
In the future, there would be a popular saying that went something like this: "Barring any unforeseen circumstances, a university professor is likely the person with the highest social status you will ever meet in your entire life."
These students had yet to realize this harsh truth, but that didn’t stop them from marveling at the revelation.
Halfway through the meal, Xi Zirong finally finished making his rounds and came over. However, Xu Su’s table was already full, so he called a waiter over to add a chair and sat down next to her.
He asked for a bowl and chopsticks as well.
Xu Su glanced at him. The boy’s face was a little flushed, and he had taken off the overcoat he’d been wearing outside. Dressed in just his clean, crisp suit, he looked very dapper.
But... Xu Su asked, "Xi Zirong, have you been drinking?"
She could smell alcohol on him.
Among all the tables at this banquet, theirs was likely the only one without alcohol, seeing as they were all high school students.
Xi Zirong propped his chin on his hand, tilting his head to look at her. His eyes were clear. "Mhm. Susu, I’m an adult now. They made me have a few drinks, but I’m not drunk."
Xu Su nodded, not at all bothered by the fact that he’d been drinking.
’In fact, she herself enjoyed a drink...’
Xi Zirong pressed on, "If you don’t like me drinking, I’ll never drink again. Susu, I’ll be good."
