Lord of Mysterious Wizard-Chapter 1149 - 98: Kabala and Star Sea Observatory
"'True Light Book', 'Nightmare Secret Language', 'Strongest Travel Mage - Complete Travel Record of Camit', 'Essence of Soul', 'God Died in Sleep'..."
Tang Qi quickly noted down these book titles in his mind, feeling a sense of puzzlement.
He turned to Bond and asked, "Are the books in the library not categorized at all?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
The reason for this question was clear; the books Tang Qi noted, from their titles alone, were evidently not of the same genre, yet they were placed in a compartment of the same bookshelf.
Lonely Bond heard the question, and his jawbone made a crackling sound as if he was laughing, and then answered:
"Categorized?"
"None of the books in this sector are categorized; however, they are not placed randomly. Most of the books were placed by their original owners."
"But as time goes on, for new visitors, the locations of all the books become a chaotic uncertainty."
"Of course, there are ways to bypass this situation."
"Boom!"
Just as Bond finished speaking, a book even thicker than the 'Complete Rules of the Mysterious Library' fell onto the Silver Skateboard.
Bond's jawbone began to open and close again as he patted the book, which was almost the size of a house, and said:
"This is the 'First Sector Book Catalog'. You can find the titles, brief descriptions, authors, and locations of all books in this sector here."
"Of course, only a portion of readers choose to do this. Most prefer surprises, wandering between bookshelves, feeling like they are unwrapping gifts each time, which is immensely captivating for them."
While the lonely Mr. Tyrannosaurus spoke, information fragments flashed in Tang Qi's mind.
[Extraordinary Artifact: First Sector Book Catalog.]
[State: Changing.]
[Information Fragment One: Like the 'Complete Rules of the Library', it is constantly being added to, at a faster rate than the latter. Each visitor or reader can write books in the library; once recognized, they can place the books where they wish, and the catalog gains a new entry.]
[Information Fragment Two: Every visitor entering the library is automatically matched with a book catalog of the sector they are in. The initial state is the same, but visitors can use various methods to modify their catalog state for more comfortable reading.]
[Information Fragment Three: For example, using certain secret medicine to make the catalog transform into special life, or using divine arts to activate the catalog, or using mechanical force to transform the catalog into an intelligent assistant... When the visitor leaves the sector, the catalog is reset to zero.]
[Information Fragment Four: Use your mind to summon your catalog.]
Looking at the last piece of information, Tang Qi did not proceed to summon immediately.
Of course, he did not plan to read according to the method described by Lonely Bond.
Tang Qi also enjoyed encountering "surprises" everywhere, but the condition was that time was ample.
He looked around, still surrounded by endless skyscraper-like bookshelves and various magical, incredible facilities.
"First sector? How many sectors does the library have?"
What Tang Qi was actually asking about was the complete structure of the Mysterious Library.
He knew the basic unit of the library was the "sector", but other than that, Tang Qi knew nothing about the library.
Previously, he had asked Rose Madeline and Beckfast Chair the same question but had not received a concrete answer.
Rose's reply: The teacher says the unknown is charming. Once I visit the library, I will naturally find the answer.
Fack's reply: The stingy Beckfast refused to reveal anything, saying those were irretrievable cherished memories meant only for him to enjoy.
Tang Qi originally thought that Lonely Bond, as the "guide", should know, but the next moment, the answer he heard was:
"If it's just sectors, the first layer of the library has a total of one thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine sectors, and the number of sectors is still increasing... Every sector is connected by the [Knowledge Secret Path], and you can travel if you gain permission."
"If you lack the relevant permission, you can forcefully gain it by finishing reading all the books in the current sector... Of course, there must be more ways to gain permission to other sectors, but as a lowly guide, I can only speak of what I know."
Here, Lonely Bond paused for a moment.
Then, he continued: "Those who consecutively gain ten permissions will have the qualification to enter the second layer of the library."
"Or, through the [Library Administrator Assessment], becoming the first layer administrator can also grant access to the second layer."
"As for what the second layer's structure is? What's inside?"
"I also don't know!"
The Tyrannosaurus shook his fossil head, addressing part of Tang Qi's questions but still leaving him mostly in the dark.
The only effective information was the administrators' assessments were actually in different layers?
"How many layers does the library have?"
"Don't know!"
Tang Qi asked again, and Bond quickly answered.
At the same time, it once again reached out with its small short hand, suddenly pointing towards a reader within a certain compartment of the bookshelf ahead.
Tang Qi looked over, and a scene of utter ruin and darkness emerged in his eyes, a forest decayed, with trees withered and stones weathered to fragments. The reader's form was a massive "owl," clearly an extraordinary life form with powerful magic, but it was on the brink of death.
It stood on the ground, before it was a book called "I Shall Be Immortal."
It was very old, covered in thick dust, feathers nearly shed, with a decaying dark red scarf around its neck, a rusty copper bell hanging from its ankle. There might have been other ornaments once, but they had all rotted away, just like the once lush and verdant forest.
Bond's explanation came at the right time.
"Great Master of the Weird Town, many new visitors want to know how vast the library really is and what its structure is like."
"But eventually, this question will disappear from their minds."
"Because most reader visitors, even if they exhaust their lifetimes, cannot leave the first level."
"No, not just the first level, not even the first sector we are in."
"Even just the [Kabala No.3 Bookshelf] before them has become the burial ground, the place of soul peace, for dozens of readers."
"This big fellow is a legendary level mage, so eager for knowledge that it won the favor of an administrator, allowing it not only to stay in the library permanently but also to use a special method to add a new book to the library."
"It has been in the first sector for nearly a thousand years, and it is reaching its end."
Bond's words seemed somewhat strange, even terrifying.
But Tang Qi quickly realized it was true.
He looked at the dying owl, and relevant fragments overflowed.
[Extraordinary Creature: Krugis.]
[State: Dying.]
[Information Fragment One: It was originally just an ordinary owl, which by chance encountered a mage master, was bestowed with a "Wisdom Potion," given the name "Krugis," and its thirst for knowledge and talent in magic embarked it on a magic journey far more legendary than its master.]
[Information Fragment Two: Nearly a thousand years ago, it was granted permission by an administrator to permanently remain in the library, with this permanence limited by its lifespan's extreme.]
[Information Fragment Three: It is very happy and satisfied, choosing to stay here in a special way, planning to read all the books it wishes to during its remaining life, and after death, to transform its body, soul, and all that hasn't rotted into a new book.]
[Information Fragment Four: It has confirmed the book's title as "The Meaning of Life—Krugis' Magic Lectures," and chosen its placement location on "Kabala No.3 Bookshelf."]
...
"Are there many such readers?"
While browsing the information in his mind, Tang Qi asked a question, simultaneously looking at the book list within the compartment where the dying Krugis was.
A part from the special book being formed, there was also an endlessly long list of names that could not be flipped through at a glance.
"Very many!"
"It's their right and their freedom, and at least, they are all very happy, aren't they."
The Tyrannosaurus shook its head in response, while the silver skateboard was still gliding forward, and the speed was accelerating.
Seconds later, they arrived at the next bookshelf. Compared to the previous "Kabala No.3," this enormous bookshelf seemingly made of some kind of meteorite was more popular.
Tang Qi hadn't started to observe it yet when he saw several readers approaching from a distance, as well as new visitors appearing out of thin air.
Some were friendly, some indifferent.
One of them abruptly appeared from nihility, wearing hunter's clothes with a green cloak fluttering, a male elf with a full head of white hair.
It first nodded friendly towards Tang Qi, then instantly entered a compartment in the bookshelf, where a stunningly beautiful continent immediately manifested, with the atmosphere of war, adventure, and other stories bursting forth, presenting a special book list to Tang Qi's eyes.
"It uses experiential reading, stacking books like 'Elf World,' 'Embers Lament,' 'Three War Epics,' 'What was I thinking when the flood came?,' 'Eternal Night, Dawn, and My Goddess,' etc. After experiencing all the books, it will take a hundred and nine years."
"High-privilege users can use the speed-up function, but over-speeding carries the risk of soul damage, and it is not recommended to use it."
"In the first sector, including this [Star Sea Observation Bookshelf No.1], there are two thousand and twenty providing this reading method."
Lonely Bond had just finished saying these when it met Tang Qi's look of doubt.
Indeed, Tang Qi was puzzled. If this Tyrannosaurus, which had only its fossil skeleton left, wasn't lying,
Then he could be sure that the Mysterious Library was a place far more magical than "Weird Town," perhaps only "All Things Can Be Sold," which he still didn't fully understand, could compare to it.
...
ps: Making up for yesterday, stayed up until four last night and didn't write anything. To convey the true feeling of the "library scene" is indeed difficult, and the delay in updates is real, so Fat Fish accepts being called "hopelessly stupid" by readers, forgive me, here's to you all, boom boom boom.
ps2: Speaking about the book review area event, I glanced at the All Spirits you all created, they're quite good. If you're interested, go participate. Although the Qidian Coin isn't much, there's still a sense of participation, isn't there?
