Lord of Mysterious Wizard-Chapter 527 - 488: The Timid Evil God
The polluted clouds dissipating at all times are gone, warm sunshine cascades down again, shining through the gap onto the sooty dirt that clings everywhere inside the earth cave, and illuminating the hugely transformed figure that leapt up from beneath the earth cave.
McGraw’s body had swollen to at least twice its size, especially that fist, shrinking down at a visible rate, like a deflating "balloon".
The dark base color and the dark-golden net-like veins were fading, his figure quickly normalizing, amidst the burst of scalding steam, accompanied by McGraw’s rapid breathing.
Clearly, after transforming through the "Rubber Man Secret Medicine," it was a tremendous drain on him.
However, compared to the power he had demonstrated before, this expenditure was well worth it.
Before taking the secret medicine, McGraw’s combat effectiveness was not considered strong on the Mysterious Side. Relying on some low-level Curios and swift reactions, he might have managed to serve as a Police Station Consultant in a rural place like Messer City.
If he left here, entering Secret Phoenix City, his abilities would meet their limits.
Now, however, things were different.
Though he had not yet reached "Professional Level," his hand-to-hand combat abilities were undoubtedly far superior to the ordinary Transcendent.
McGraw stood on the ground, not looking at the dwarf, who had reverted and was lying in a pool of blood, decomposed. Instead, he respectfully bowed to Diana, who was making her appearance from the void, and said, "Sir, I have done it."
His object of adoration was naturally Tang Qi.
Although he did not understand what form of life "Diana" was, it did not hinder him from sending his regards to Tang Qi through her.
"Settle the affairs of Messer City, then report to Secret Phoenix City for a new position."
Diana spoke, but the voice belonged to Tang Qi.
"Yes!"
Upon hearing this, McGraw’s face immediately lit up with joy, and if not for the situation and the slowly vanishing Diana, he would even want to punch the air and cheer.
He, of course, understood that Tang Qi’s appointment for him as a Police Station Consultant in Messer City was to train him.
But as the "Sir’s" only subordinate, McGraw couldn’t be happy not working for Tang Qi.
Fortunately, good news had come.
Watching Diana leave, McGraw subconsciously pondered about what new position he would obtain.
At that moment, a feeble voice came through.
"Save~ save me!"
McGraw turned his head, just to meet a pair of murky, nauseating eyes.
Under the Red Robe, wrapped a rotting shell, his chest forcefully torn open by himself, exposing a grey-black heart, filthy and foul, disgusting to behold.
This old man, like McGraw, hailing from the Blank District of Messer City, was once a true "pitiful person," forgotten, discarded, and trampled by the world.
But as he became a Cult leader, in pursuit of even greater "power," creating those heinous events, he changed.
All believers of the Holy Guidance Sect were dead, that so-called "Gafaro Mountain" also had been destroyed, and that ancient, exquisitely odd "Fool’s Ship" was taken away.
At this moment, the old man was like several months ago, about to die when he slid from the cold claw of the Corpse Collection Vehicle.
He reached out an arm full of pustules, trying to grab McGraw’s foot, staring hard at McGraw, attempting to find pity, sympathy, or anything that might compel McGraw to save him.
Unfortunately, there was nothing but calm.
The old man’s arm slowly fell, breathing weak, his lips curling into a twisted smile, looking at McGraw, he cast his final curse:
"Actually, we are the same kind of people... the forgotten pitiful ones, it’s just that you’re luckier than me... However, not for long. In this changing world, you too will soon be abandoned, be eliminated, believe me, it’s fate, the fate of people like us."
As the old man spoke, in McGraw’s mind emerged the massive volume of "missing persons" files he had seen at the police station.
Homeless vagrants, prostitutes fallen due to various reasons, or lonely travelers... The old man came from Blank District, so he knew these kinds of people, apart from them, very few groups, missing hundreds, would also not draw any attention.
He exploited this fact, seizing the lives of his "kindred," and built up Gafaro Mountain.
McGraw slowly squatted down, locking eyes with the old man. He originally wanted to let the old man take another look at the present Blank District, but this thought had just risen in his mind, and he suppressed it again; it was already meaningless.
"We are not the same kind."
"Bang"
In the bursting sound, the fading scalding steam erupted again.
...
In the fourth floor of the Library, Tang Qi, who was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, suddenly turned his head towards the void.
In the rippling ripples, Diana’s figure gradually appeared.
"Ten breaths time, back and forth between Messer and Secret Phoenix without using any external force or witchcraft, that’s Diana’s maximum speed."
"And it consumes quite a bit."
Quickly calculating the Magic Power loss in his heart, his gaze then immediately fell on the "wooden boat" in Diana’s hands, which the cult old man had snatched and whose name had never been known.
Palm-sized, ancient and exquisitely made, filled with traces of time, resembling an antique woodworking art piece.
On the ship, many human figures were carved, engaging in various mad actions, but if one looked closely, each figure had a layer of hazy shadow over them, blocking anyone from clearly seeing the movements or faces of the small figures on the ship.
Magic Power’s gaze intensified, and his special ability activated directly.
"Boom"
Unexpectedly, ghost lights burst forth in his mind.
The amount of Information Fragments was unimaginably huge and complex. After using his special ability multiple times, Magic Power could now vaguely estimate the strength of the Transcendent or Curios being observed as well as other information based on the abundance, complexity, and difficulty of capturing the Information Fragments.
This wooden boat was very "special."
"It is very old and has had many owners."
"Its caster is not the unknown Evil God Gafaro."
The first few fragments that emerged in his mind quickly verified Magic Power’s previous speculations.
[Curio: Fool’s Ship.]
[State: Normal.]
[Information Fragment One: An ancient curio from the early Dark Era, its casters were a group of explorers consisting of Prophets and scholars, it does not release any pollution or radiation, and it contains some ancient truths, possessing many mysterious and extraordinary powers.]
[Information Fragment Two: There is more than one Fool’s Ship. Since the first Fool’s Ship appeared, many philosophers from the early Dark Era have replicated or cast their own versions; this one does not belong to the original version, it belongs to another philosopher.]
[Information Fragment Three: It can communicate with the "Mysterious", and even navigate within it, but it seems to offer no protection and may release certain qualities that are likely to attract specific monsters from the "Mysterious".]
[Information Fragment Four: Its current master is... a Demigod Level Biological being from the Exotic Realm, Gafaro.]
...
"Great find!"
A shimmer appeared in Magic Power’s eyes.
Before snatching this wooden boat from the hands of the old Cultist, Magic Power had already noticed something off about it through Diana’s perspective.
The old man intended to use the power of the "Fool’s Ship" to communicate with the Mysterious and guide the will of the so-called Evil God "Gafaro."
This method of praying for descent is something most Cultists know, though it comes at a cost.
However, the difference lies in the fact that during the descent, the entity that opens the gap in the "Mysterious" is either the Evil God itself or a Curio related to the Evil God.
At that time, Diana sensed that the force opening the gap in the Mysterious was the power of the "Fool’s Ship." Yet, the boat, despite its irrational extraordinary aura, was completely different from the old man, the Cultists, and the so-called "Gafaro Mountain."
This meant that the Curio of the boat could communicate with the Mysterious.
Just this feature alone was enough reason for Magic Power to rob it.
Moreover, the one being robbed was a Cult elder.
"The so-called, representative of termination and rebirth, the creator of Gafaro’s Country, does not really need my special ability to judge. Just based on his choice of polluted objects and the distributor of his doctrines, that timid, cowardly old man is enough to know, he is not a powerful Evil God."
"The ’Demigod’ from the Exotic Realm, not content to develop in the Exotic Realm, yet willing to use such a precious object as the Fool’s Ship to expand influence in Blue Star?"
"It seems, Origin Blue Star holds an extraordinary position among many worlds." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
While contemplating, Magic Power had already taken the "Fool’s Ship" in hand.
Yet, even being so close, Magic Power was still unable to see clearly the actions or the true faces of those "small figures" carved on the ship, due to the stubborn and weird layer of shadow.
The longer he stared, an inexplicable, baseless impulse arose.
In his mind, a deep, ancient chant was heard.
"Light dies, Dark reborn."
"Fallen Magic slays the good."
"Scarlet blood spills, converging into a sea."
...
Accompanied by the chanting, an endless darkness reflected in Magic Power’s eyes, an eternal ancient land, a series of "Corpse Mountains" stood, and at the end, a humanoid figure lying atop the peak of a Corpse Mountain linked to heaven and earth appeared, colossal with thick yellow eyes, watching over.
"All people are ignorant, in need of Guidance by a Saint, are you willing to become..."
"Judgement!"
This obscure whisper, full of malice as though from another world, was abruptly interrupted by an explosive horror of Light Flames.
When the Light Flames circled, converging into a projection of a Sun hanging high within the endless Universe, a scream filled with ultimate pain erupted violently from the mouth of the giant humanoid creature atop the Corpse Mountain as the mountains ignited.
In an instant, the whisper disappeared, a painful force abruptly cut off the connection with Magic Power.
Before him, under Magic Power’s gaze, on the Fool’s Ship, a symbolic symbol formed by "Cross" and "termination symbol" automatically emerged, then slowly faded away.
Magic Power, startled, said:
"Did it give up voluntarily? Such a cowardly Evil God?"
