Chapter 878: Chapter 860: Landing on Mist Mountain

"Mist Mountain, what do you know about it?"

Sitting in the study with Karina, Rocky looked through the Allied Forces’ action plan and then asked.

Unfortunately, Karina shook her head. "Not much. Although Mist Mountain is close to Mist Mountain City, I’ve only been stationed here for one or two months, so I’ve never had the chance to go there."

In this regard, Karina naturally wouldn’t lie. Her understanding of Mist Mountain was indeed limited, partly because she hadn’t been stationed in Mist Mountain City for long, and partly because the demons have been attacking almost nonstop since her arrival, so she had no time to explore Mist Mountain.

"Then we’ll have to send an elite force. After all, the Allied Forces just want us to find the high-level demons’ gathering point. To put it simply, our task is to collect information about Mist Mountain. Beyond that, we don’t need to do anything else."

"Exactly. When do you plan to leave?"

Glancing at Rocky, Karina asked. Despite this being a mission assigned by the Allied Forces to her, Rocky was the actual core of the operation, so the timing of their departure depended on him.

"We’ll set out after the Allied Forces agree to our terms. I’m not in a hurry."

"Alright."

Hearing this, Karina smiled slightly and agreed with his approach.

Previously mentioned, Rocky was well aware of the Allied Forces’ small schemes. So upon receiving the mission, he had Karina contact the city’s liaison officer and inform the Allied Forces that the mission could be completed, but Karina’s prior-earned military merit couldn’t be revoked and must be exchanged immediately after they left the warzone.

Being used as a pawn while losing out on compensation was something Rocky would never agree to. Naturally, he engaged in a bout of negotiation. As expected, Gihren had anticipated such a move, so the Allied Forces quickly sent a message agreeing to these terms: as long as Karina successfully completed the mission and brought back satisfying intel about Mist Mountain, she could leave with her military merits intact.

With this settled, Rocky and Karina wasted no time and promptly organized a unit.

This unit wasn’t large—only one warship, the "War Steed," with twenty Void Magic Warriors including both Rocky and Karina. However, these twenty warriors were the finest elites from the two great Sky Cities. Rocky brought along Liliya, Monte, and Dusa, while Karina mobilized all her elite soldiers. Clearly, the plan was to rely on their elite force for reconnaissance.

Unquestionably, this was a sound decision. According to Alliance intelligence, Mist Mountain was the high-level demons’ base camp. All high-level demons in the Mist Mountain City region were believed to have come from there. Sending a large army would be unrealistic—Rocky and Karina’s forces were too small. Such an operation would be left to the Allied Forces, so they opted to focus on their mission’s objective: to gather information about Mist Mountain’s situation. Deploying an elite team was the best approach.

With everything prepared, the War Steed slowly lifted off from Thunderhawk City and flew east towards Mist Mountain City. After half a day’s journey, they spotted a peak shrouded in mist.

As mentioned before, Mist Mountain itself isn’t large—just a small mountain with an altitude of a few hundred meters. Yet due to being perpetually enveloped in thick fog, it appeared mysterious, the kind of place one wouldn’t want to enter just by glancing at it. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Upon approaching Mist Mountain, Rocky didn’t have the War Steed move in immediately but instead had it circle the area. One reason was to scout the terrain, and the other was to observe the surroundings first. Unfortunately, his caution proved futile—the mist cloaking Mist Mountain was so dense that the high-flying War Steed couldn’t see anything clearly.

"Ascend."

After circling Mist Mountain without gaining any insights, Rocky ordered the War Steed to ascend, eventually positioning it directly above Mist Mountain.

"Monte, Dusa, take your squad eastward."

"Karina, lead your squad westward."

"Liliya, take your squad southward."

"I’ll handle the north."

Looking at the warriors on the deck, Rocky quickly assigned their directions before cautioning, "Remember the mission. Our goal this time is to scout Mist Mountain’s situation. Avoid engaging high-level demons whenever possible. If you spot anything, report immediately. If a demon finds you, try to retreat or call for backup. There are no normal demons on this mountain—only high-level demons. I don’t want anyone playing hero at a time like this!"

"Understood!"

With unified replies, the group began to disperse and fly out of the War Steed. After everyone left, Liliya glanced at Rocky and remarked, "Telling us not to play hero, yet you’re investigating alone?"

Liliya wasn’t wrong. The others operated in squads while Rocky ventured solo, seemingly contradictory to his earlier advice.

"I’m not like you. You have numbers and can protect each other. Too many people around me would only be a burden."

Facing Liliya’s discontent, Rocky smiled faintly and answered cheerfully.

Indeed, when facing high-level demons, even an elite force like theirs would be hard-pressed to confront them directly. More members meant a higher chance of survival. However, Rocky’s case was different. His strength far surpassed that of the others, and extra companions would only hinder him—operating solo was far more efficient.

Liliya clearly understood this point, so she merely made the remark and gave a brief warning for Rocky to be cautious before leading her team out of the War Steed. Once she left, Rocky exited the War Steed’s defensive net and dove straight down towards Mist Mountain!

Speeding toward the fog, Rocky crashed into it with a boom. For several hundred meters, his surroundings were shrouded in dense mist, rendering him unable to see anything. This made him realize how thick the fog enveloping Mist Mountain was—no wonder the Allied Forces insisted on sending someone to scout it in person. The mist was so impenetrable that learning anything from the outside was impossible.

Under such circumstances, Rocky quickly accelerated his armor’s speed. In just a few blinks, he pierced through the heavy fog and found himself facing a dense forest.

Lowering his altitude hastily, he began decelerating as he neared the ground. Silently and smoothly, he landed without making a single sound.

"Alright, let’s see what’s hidden in here..."

Standing firmly on the ground, Rocky immediately scanned the area. At the same time, beams of light shot from his armor’s eyes, the rays quickly spreading outward and commencing a scan of his surroundings.
