Chapter 171: Chapter 168: Will There Be a Difference?

Wei Fengsui drove both families to today’s final destination, the main "historic site" on the Great Ocean Road—Twelve Apostles (Twelve Apostles Island).

"Fengsui brother, tell us the story of the Twelve Apostles Island," Yan Yan had already started to treat Wei Fengsui as a bona fide tour guide.

"The Twelve Apostles Island," actually, isn’t an island at all but twelve separate rock stacks standing alone in the azure ocean.

These rock stacks, each distinct in shape, are said to be named ’Twelve Apostles’ because their number and shapes greatly resemble Jesus’s twelve disciples.

The Twelve Apostles are actually rock formations of limestone, sandstone, and fossils, shaped by millions of years of erosion and weathering by the sea, and many have become unstable due to the constant beating of the waves.

In the past decade, some have fallen and others have crumbled, so how many ’Angel Envoys’ remain at the Twelve Apostles Island is now a matter of opinion," Wei Fengsui explained, almost grabbing a flag and a loudspeaker to qualify as a "licensed" tour guide.

"Do these stones have any poignant love stories? Or even stories about war?" Yan Yan asked Wei Fengsui.

"There aren’t any love stories. Domestic scenic spots usually have some legends about love. Even if there are only one or two stones, they will be named ’Husband-watching Cliff’ or ’Husband and Wife Peak’ or something like that.

I think Australians have rich imaginations. Even if there were indeed twelve independent rock stacks that inspired the name Twelve Apostles.

From my perspective, I can’t see at all how these stones resemble the disciples.

But if you’re interested in stories, look ahead, that broken arch-like formation there, that’s the renowned London Arch of the Twelve Apostles.

Originally, it was a promontory with two arches formed by the sea, unbroken. After the middle part collapsed, it became what it is now and was then dubbed London Broken Bridge.

There’s been some juicy gossip about that broken bridge," Wei Fengsui pointed the location of the London Broken Bridge out to everyone.

"That beach I visited with your Aunt Lu a couple of days ago, the one with that big stone with a hole in it, is called London Bridge Beach. Now this one, also with a hole, is called the London Broken Bridge. Is it that any arch-like place in Melbourne is called London Bridge?" Yan Dabang, who was recently keen on learning English, was first interested in the origin of these "London Bridge" names.

For a tech enthusiast, calling different things by the same name sounds a bit frustrating.

"So, they’re all called London Bridge? Uncle Yan, if you hadn’t mentioned it, I honestly wouldn’t have noticed," Wei Fengsui’s tour guide "knowledge base" didn’t store place name information.

"What juicy gossip?" Yan Yan wasn’t interested in the name; she was more concerned with the gossip.

"The arch of the London Broken Bridge that collapsed did so on January 15, 1990.

At that time, live television news was just becoming popular.

A man and a woman were trapped on the other end of the collapsed arch, unable to return.

Later, a helicopter rescue had to be dispatched to save them.

It was televised live," Wei Fengsui began explaining.

"Where’s the juicy part in a rescue broadcast?" Yan Yan still didn’t understand what Wei Fengsui was getting at.

"The live rescue in itself isn’t juicy, but reportedly, the man’s wife and the woman’s husband were both watching the live broadcast on TV," Wei Fengsui added the meaty details of the gossip.

"Ah? That tragic? Really? Isn’t that probability extremely small? Qi Yi, why don’t you calculate the odds of such an event happening?" Yan Yan, always up for some fun, immediately thought of Qi Yi.

"I don’t know if it’s real or not, I’ve never seen the legendary broadcast myself. In any case, Australians like to believe it. The first time I came to the Great Ocean Road, that’s what the tour guide told me. The other tourists with me, all Australians, didn’t dispute this story," Director Wei honestly shared his source.

"So, Australians just enjoy juicy stories, huh?" Yan Yan, with keen interest, turned her head to ask Yi, "Did you calculate the odds?"

"Why would I calculate the odds for such a thing? If the story were true, they should have let those two ’romance’ on the other side of the broken bridge and figure out their own way back," Yi replied with a bit of dark humor, suggesting that dispatching a helicopter to save two cheating individuals was wholly unnecessary.

"Hahaha, why are you so heartless? I think some tour guide must have invented this story; the odds of it being real are just too low," Yan Yan refused to believe in the authenticity of this juicy news.

"Don’t you feel sorry for those two people?" Qi Yi asked seriously.

"No, I seriously doubt whether those two people really exist," Yan Yan clearly stated her standpoint.

"What if it’s true?" Qi Yi asked Yan Yan.

"Then, let them take a ride in a faulty helicopter," Yan Yan pondered and "ferociously" provided her answer.

"Haha, turns out, Waiwai is even less compassionate than I am?" Qi Yi suddenly found Yan Yan’s ferocious attitude amusing.

"That’s right, they got trapped for a reason. But it sounds a bit cruel, doesn’t it? Maybe we should rescue them first and find out what’s going on," Yan Yan eventually relented.

"Do you have a helicopter?" Qi Yi asked Yan Yan.

"No—," Yan Yan truthfully replied.

"So why bother worrying?" Qi Yi asked Yan Yan, laughing.

"That makes sense. Plus, since it happened in 1990, even if I did have a helicopter, I’d still need to figure out how to time-travel back. That’s a bit troublesome," Yan Yan chatted with Qi Yi as if no one else was around.

Lei Pili watched Yan Yan and Qi Yi chatting, knowing he shouldn’t be insisting on anything in the current situation.

Lei Pili was no longer the naive boy from the ivory tower, he knew without asking again what kind of answer Yan Yan would give him.

Only one thing remained unknown to Lei Pili right now.

Lei Zhaodi and Lu Bingran had been speaking in Yan Yan’s family’s courtyard about traveling to Europe, but they spoke softly.

Qi Yi, coming out with the parents from inside the house, might have overheard.

But Lei Pili and Yan Yan had no way of knowing what the two mothers were talking about from where they stood.

So, at this moment, Lei Pili still didn’t know that Yan Yan would also soon be going to Italy.

But even knowing that, what difference would it make?
