Love Affairs in Melbourne-Chapter 228 - 225 Two Room Cards
Chapter 228: Chapter 225 Two Room Cards
Yan Yan felt that Qi Yi was being a bit over the top today, as he held onto her hand throughout dinner without letting go.
The handsome guy wasn’t even left-handed, yet today, to keep from letting go of Yan Yan’s hand, he used his left hand to eat from start to finish.
Even though Qi Yi wasn’t so clumsy with his left hand that he’d end up sticking food up his nose, it was still somewhat awkward.
Yan Yan’s left hand was held by Qi Yi, which didn’t significantly impact her own eating, so she didn’t particularly object to it.
Considering her boyfriend had come all this way, it would be too much for Yan Yan to not even allow hand-holding.
If Qi Yi didn’t mind the effort, then let him be.
Yan Yan wasn’t surprised that Qi Yi was eating with his left hand; what did surprise her was that even though he was holding her hand, there wasn’t a hint of a smile or satisfaction on his face.
Instead, he seemed a bit tense, holding her hand so tightly, reminiscent of when they were in high school, strolling in crowded places, afraid she might get lost.
Qi Yi stayed quiet after saying he was responsible for the calculations.
"You can’t possibly be so excited to see me that you’re beside yourself, can you?" Yan Yan asked during a lull in the conversation.
Before Qi Yi could answer, Jiao Zhifei expressed his displeasure at Yan Yan’s previous comment:
"Old Sister, isn’t Brother Ye treating us today?
He didn’t let you pay, so why are you crying poor?
If you can invest in private equity in the United States, you must have at least five million dollars in highly liquid securities, right?
How can you say you’re so poor after investing in private equity?"
"Brother Ye? How long have you even known him, and you’re already so chummy? You really do have relatives everywhere," Yan Yan glared at Jiao Zhifei irritably.
She remembered when she had asked Jiao Zhifei why he’d called her sister on the first day of middle school, and he said it was just a casual call; this casual reasoning had frustrated Yan Yan, who had only ever acknowledged one "younger brother."
"What’s wrong with relatives everywhere? Didn’t you just say yourself that having many brothers and sisters is a good thing?" Jiao Zhifei retorted.
When Ye Mo went to pay the bill after dinner, Yan Ling pulled out two freshly issued room cards and handed one to each, Jiao Zhifei and Yan Yan.
"Cousin, are you mistaken? Why are you giving my sister a new room card? freewёbnoνel.com
Even if you were giving them out, it should be to me and Senior Brother Lei.
My sister, who’s married, wouldn’t need an extra room card, right?" Jiao Zhifei took both room cards into his hand.
After he spoke, Jiao Zhifei braced himself for Yan Yan’s outburst, but to his surprise, Yan Yan said, "Senior Brother Lei, is your place far from here? Would you like to stay over tonight?"
Everyone was a bit shocked.
Yan Ling didn’t know when his cousin had become so hypocritical, having specifically called him to prepare two more rooms not long ago.
Lei Pili didn’t know when his junior sister had become so open-minded, having previously insisted they couldn’t accommodate boys at home.
Jiao Zhifei didn’t know when his Old Sister had become so direct, as she would normally show some shyness.
Qi Yi and Bao Bao were also a bit taken aback; Yan Yan’s usual behavior was one thing, but today, with Ye Mo, the "overseas employee," present, it seemed even more out of place.
With the boyfriend making no such requests, Yan Yan eagerly offering herself to his room, was quite indecent.
While everyone was still taken aback, Yan Yan went on to say,
"If you don’t have anything on early tomorrow morning, stay over tonight. I haven’t played ’Eighty Points’ in a long time.
Yi said you’re quite good at cards and that you four used to play together at home often.
If that’s the case, then you, my brother, Ye Mo, and I would make a complete group.
Otherwise, I’d have to drag those who flew here all day to play with me, which I would feel bad about." Yan Yan was itching to play cards.
Since working on her graduation project, Yan Yan had been too busy to even think about playing cards.
Coming to Milan was a sort of vacation for her.
Whenever on vacation, Yan Yan didn’t care to do much other than play cards.
If Yan Yan wanted the few who had traveled long-haul to Milan to actually get some rest, then only Ye Mo, Jiao Zhifei, and herself were left, meaning without Lei Pili, they couldn’t get a card game going.
"Old Sister, are you mistaken? Who wants to play cards with you? Why play cards instead of keeping your husband company and sleeping?" Jiao Zhifei wouldn’t let Yan Yan off the hook today if he didn’t make a fuss.
"He’s not a kid; why would I need to keep him company?
I can’t even sing a lullaby.
I’d rather keep Bao Bao company.
I’ve got to show my best side and convince Bao Bao to settle down happily in Florence.
I already told Bao Bao to book a room with twin beds; I planned to sleep with her tonight.
I had my brother book an extra room because I was afraid playing cards late would disturb Bao Bao." Yan Yan was one of those people who wouldn’t feel right until she did what she set out to do.
Yan Yan wanted to play cards today, and if Lei Pili wasn’t available, she would likely drag Qi Yi to join her since her boyfriend was still adjusting to the time difference and might not be able to sleep anyway.
If worse came to worst, playing ’Landlord’ with three people could also somewhat satisfy Yan Yan’s craving for cards.
In the end, things progressed in the way Yan Yan had hoped for the best.
The three who had traveled internationally went to rest in their respective rooms, while the "Italian Quartet" played ’Upgrading’ in Lei Pili’s room.
With a game like ’Upgrading,’ teamwork between allies was crucial.
When it came to teamwork, naturally, Yan Yan partnered with Jiao Zhifei.
However, whether intentionally or out of misunderstanding, Jiao Zhifei wasn’t cooperating and instead kept clashing with Yan Yan, turning what should have been an alliance into something resembling opponents.
Lei Pili and Ye Mo had already progressed to level 8 while Yan Yan’s side hadn’t even gotten past level 2.
If the game continued this way, Yan Yan gave up, and by the time Lei Pili and Ye Mo had broken through with an Ace, Yan Yan demanded to switch partners.
Having had his card skills thrashed by Yan Yan all night, Jiao Zhifei decided to leave indignantly, but before he even reached the door, Qi Yi was already ringing the doorbell outside.
Qi Yi had initially just come by to watch after being unable to sleep following his shower, but now he promptly joined the fray.
Jiao Zhifei might have been unbearably bad at cards, but Qi Yi was too skilled, which wasn’t enjoyable either.
