Love Affairs in Melbourne-Chapter 332 - 327: Not That Easy (1)
"Is this really okay for you?" Yan Yan gave up on trying to regain her footing in the conversation.
If Qi Yi didn’t let her win, Yan Yan would still have no big chance to get the upper hand in their banter.
"Of course it’s fine~ Otherwise, you owe me a kiss in the sunken plaza at Rockefeller Center in public, and looking at the number of people in the square today, it seems to fit the definition of ’public.’
"Let’s go then. Who’s afraid? Since you’re not afraid of my fans wiping you out, am I still afraid of just a kiss?" Yan Yan had completely given up.
"Alright, I’m terrified, didn’t I just barely escape with my life?" Qi Yi looked at Yan Yan with a smile brimming in his eyes.
"Qi! Yi!" Yan Yan tragically discovered that even if she hadn’t been "scared" into running without her shoes, that joke could still last Qi Yi a whole year.
"My lord, what do you need?" Qi Yi still wore the same smile. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
That smile was too handsome, making it difficult for Yan Yan to know where to start being angry.
"Well, there’s nothing much, just a small thing I need to inform you about," Yan Yan withdrew all expressions from her face, neither embarrassed nor angry.
"What is it?" Qi Yi quickly adjusted his expression to match Yan Yan’s, but the smile still couldn’t be completely hidden.
"Just a tiny thing, my parents bought a house in New York." Yan Yan continued talking with a particularly emotionless tone, while inwardly muttering—Will this guy ever stop?
"Oh, is that so? Your parents are planning to live in New York for a while? That’s pretty good, you won’t have to take such a long flight to see them." Qi Yi wasn’t surprised by this information.
For Yan Yan’s parents, wanting to come to New York to live with Yan Yan for a while was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Yeah, it’s pretty good. They arrived yesterday, and the house is all set up," Yan Yan continued to deliver the news.
"They’re already here? When did they buy the house? How come you never mentioned it before?" Qi Yi couldn’t maintain an all-knowing expression anymore with this news.
"I only found out yesterday myself. My dad and mom surprised me enough, but you~your level of surprise far exceeds that of my parents." Yan Yan stared at Qi Yi with her bright, approving eyes.
"I surprised you?" Qi Yi suddenly felt like Yan Yan had set a trap for him, but he wasn’t quite sure what it was.
"Yeah, too surprising. My parents are here, the house is ready, and I’m moving back to my parents’ house from today.
My boyfriend thinks it’s quite good~
Tell me... is my boyfriend’s IQ a bit lacking?" Yan Yan still looked at Qi Yi, and now her face was full of challenge.
Facing Yan Yan’s challenge, Qi Yi showed no sign of displeasure.
Yan Yan suspected this guy might not have understood what she had just said.
"You really should move back home for a while, lest that place becomes your ’maiden home’ and it becomes hard for you to return." Qi Yi decided to go with the flow.
With that, Yan Yan had no ground left for her prepared retort.
However, losing face occasionally is tolerable, but continuously losing face all day long is absolutely unacceptable.
Yan Yan thought for a moment, then reorganized her words and posted a message:
"Senior Brother Lei’s parents bought the house next door to ours.
It’s right across a wall, with no space between, just like it’s the same house.
Brother Pili also came over, and who knows, our rooms might just be separated by one wall." Yan Yan acted as if she were totally uninvolved.
"Why is your senior brother here? Wasn’t he supposed to go to Paris to find you? Why did he come to New York with his parents?" Qi Yi finally hit the nail on the head.
"What’s he here for? If you ask me, who do I ask?" Yan Yan deliberately teased.
"Did he come to drop his parents off, or is there something else? Diplomats aren’t supposed to just wander around, right?" When it came to a matter of genuine concern, Qi Yi began to get serious.
"It’s you who’s wandering! He’s here for work. As for whether there are any other purposes besides work, I have no idea." Yan Yan knew that Qi Yi was somewhat bothered by Lei Pili’s arrival.
Usually, she would have rushed to comfort Qi Yi.
Now, Yan Yan was definitely singing a different tune.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t know when the end would come for Qi Yi teasing her about that "Evil Spirit incident."
"What, his motives are unclear? No big deal. Once my parents go to your house for the marriage proposal, I’ll limit how often you can go back to your parents’ house." Qi Yi quickly reverted to his usual conversational tone.
"Your parents are coming to my house for a marriage proposal? For real? Have you managed to convince your mom? What about your dad?" Yan Yan originally intended to surprise Qi Yi, but she ended up being the one shocked again.
"I haven’t managed to convince my mom..." Qi Yi said, pausing deliberately for several seconds.
"But, I convinced my dad." Qi Yi finished his statement.
"What good does only convincing your dad do?" Yan Yan looked disdainful.
"It’s useless, but, my dad convinced my mom." Qi Yi finally revealed his secret.
"For real? Your trip back home was so fruitful?" Yan Yan was accustomed to Qi Yi being outmatched in negotiations with his mom, and hearing this news, she felt somewhat incredulous.
"Of course it’s true. My mom asked me to ask you when it would be convenient to visit your house." Qi Yi dispelled all of Yan Yan’s doubts.
"Your mom asked you to ask me? No way. Why do I feel so uneasy about this question? Could it be that your mom wants to go to my house and start a confrontation with my parents?" Yan Yan still felt apprehensive.
"No way, with both my mom and dad going to your house, nothing bad will happen. If there really is a problem, my dad will be there, right?" Qi Yi said, smiling as he took Yan Yan’s hand resting on the table.
"Your dad can handle your mom?" Yan Yan expressed her doubts again.
"Yeah, I had the same doubt before, but I realized I was wrong. If I had known earlier how important my dad was, I would have gone to him years sooner." Qi Yi spoke cheerfully.
"Aiyo, ’his old man,’ you actually use that term for your dad; really, it’s quite rare to hear." Yan Yan’s mood was also lifted by Qi Yi.
