It was no wonder that Shanz was trying his best to represent her lowly in front of the ministers. Her words made it worse. Pulling his lips into a devious smile, he clicked his tongue out, eyeing her from toe to bottom,
" If you wish..I can arrange it for you!"
Jessie’s face grimaced upon listening to his response. How could she forget that this guy was a monstrous beast without any sense of humor?
She scoffed scurrying back into the tiny room that she was given to his palace. Gosh..she missed her big room too much. Her back started aching after sleeping on this tiny bed for too long.
After she departed, the butler came to bow to their acting king, Shanz. He heard what was going on between them and asked hesitantly,
" Your highness! Is it necessary to bring the lady in front of the ministers? You know what their nature is...If you allow me, I can arrange a few maids for you."
Shanz snorted coldly, tugging on his long coat,
" No need! She needs to understand how it feels to be treated badly."
Shanz left for his own chamber angrily, leaving the clueless butler behind him. The butler tried to understand the depth of his words. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
What did she do to offend the highness? When did she treat him badly?
The annual gathering happened according to Shanz’s words. The next day, he invited the ministers from all lands to have the tea party at his palace. Jessie was assigned to do all the work starting from dishes to wine even the desserts after the meal.
When the evening arrived with the bell rang in the nearby church, the ministers began to appear in the castle one after another. They felt happy because the former king never invited them to the palace especially for a small gathering like this. Actually, Vincent A.K.A Isabella’s husband had always been a cold and unapproachable person. He had always acted very mysterious about himself as if he was hiding some thousand years old secret behind his face.
" Thank you, Your Highness! We feel honored!", said the minister from the west land. Others also joined in toasting the wine with him. Their faces were full of smiles and grin. Shanz also joined in toasting absentmindedly and drank it in a gulp. The minister of the east brought the topic on the table while drinking the warm liquor,
" Hmm! Right! Your highness! When are we getting the coronation ceremony? Now that the child has died, you should take the throne officially, don’t you?"
The minister of the west interrupted, scoffing disdainfully,
" You are forgetting about the will. His late majesty gave the legacy to the wife. That woman of the Basarisk..Will she really take the throne?"
The minister of the east barked, slamming the wine down hard,
" Absolutely not! She is a witch! At first, she has eaten her man now she has eaten the unborn child too. She doesn’t deserve the throne at all. Mmm! Your Highness! Do you have a plan to withdraw the will?"
Shanz didn’t hear the hurtful words that they said about Isabella. He was too lost in his thoughts, wondering about the last day when Jessie was going to leave the castle.
Why did it hurt so much? After so many years, he shouldn’t be hurt!
Shanz grabbed another wine, poured it down to reply to mumbling,
" I heard that she is recuperating in Richalwolf land. When she gets better, we will have a discussion about it."
The ministers felt unhappy with his answer. They wanted to hear his hateful tone against the former queen and her family who executed Vincent. But the response that they received wasn’t that powerful. It didn’t stop them from commenting on nonsense about Isabella or her capabilities. In their eyes, she was the naive, sweet girl who could be displayed as the pretty doll only not to the standard of the queen.
Meanwhile, Jessie inside had no idea how those ministers were insulting her sister. As she was preparing to go to serve the final dish, a maid entered with a pair of cheap clothes. Jessie glanced at the clothes and blurted out suspiciously,
" What rubbish is that?"
The maid looked frightened to tell the truth. After hesitating for a while, she blurted out stuttering,
" Well..this..The king.. wants you to appear in front of them in these clothes."
Jessie looked down at the clothes and grimaced to recognize the pattern of that clothes. It was one of those clothes that they used to give to their slaves.
Was Shanz trying to present her as his slave in front of them? Did she stoop so low in his eyes?
Jessie accepted the clothes silently and held back her tears because of the disrespect, she felt at this moment. But her stubborn personality was determined to give him the taste of his own medicine. She wiped those tears secretly, blurted through her clenched teeth,
" I get it. I will wear it as his highness wishes."
Back at the gathering in the guest hallway, Shanz became a little drunk after thinking without stopping for a long time. When he realized that Jessie didn’t appear in front of them yet, he barked looking at the guards,
" Where’s my personal maid! CALL HER! CALL HER NOW!!"
Before the guards could rush back to find Jessie, she appeared in front of the ministers in that slave cloth, looking like those strippers from the club. One of the ministers saw her and blurted out a little curiously,
" Ah! Your highness.. Doesn’t she seem familiar?"
Shanz didn’t answer that and saw the woman in that inappropriate clothes. Most of her body parts were visible and she looked nothing less than a seducer. Shanz denied strongly, looking away from Jessie who entered with a tray,
" NO! She is just a maid.."
The minister of the east licked his lips greedily and asked openly,
" That..Your Highness..Can I touch her? She looks..so seducing.."

From Author: It has been a long time guys! I never thought that I would actually experience a character like Isabella in my real life. My nephew who was born a few days back died unexpectedly on the same day. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law was infertile for 15 years and finally had this baby.
