Chapter 321: Arielle’s First Hangover

Arielle woke up with a warm body. However, the constant throbbing pain in her head did not match the warmth in her body. Her ears perked up, listening to the sound of approaching footsteps. A hand cupped her face gently and Arielle knew who it belonged.

"Are you awake? It just so happened that a maid brought food to get rid of your hangover."

"Hangover?"

"You don’t remember? You drank a glass of wine last night just to quench your thirst."

Ronan helped Arielle to get up and put the food the maid had brought on her lap. The man gathered her hair and tied it in the back, so it wouldn’t get on the food. Arielle was still frowning as her head throbbed painfully.

"Will everyone feel this after drinking a glass of wine? Ronan, you have to stop drinking wine. It’s not good," said Arielle while stroking her temple.

She didn’t understand why people drink alcohol. Arielle had seen several times the palace knights looked very tortured after they drank a lot of alcohol at a party.

Arielle could feel it now. She felt a little nauseous and dizzy, and her head was throbbing. She could not imagine how tormented other people who drank more than one glass. It must be very painful for them.

Ronan chuckled and nodded. Though he had no intention of stopping drinking alcohol. Even a glass of alcohol could help him in his everyday life. Starting from wine or whiskey, which helped to calm him down.

It was Arielle’s first time, and the girl had a low alcohol tolerance level, so she felt the hangover with just a glass of red wine.

"Eat your breakfast first. It will help you reduce the dizziness and nausea."

Ronan took a chair and sat beside the girl. He watched Arielle, who was eating slowly. It looked like he was wrong to let her touch the alcohol.

Ronan enjoyed Arielle’s adorable behavior last night but seeing her feeling uncomfortable with her first hangover made Ronan determined to rid the various types of alcohol from her reach so Arielle wouldn’t get drunk again.

"What are you going to do today?" asked Ronan, who accepted the empty plate and gave her a glass of warm milk.

"Thank you very much. I’m sorry, I have troubled you," Arielle said after Ronan put the food trolley away for her.

"It’s okay."

The man glanced at Arielle briefly and dragged the coach in front of the fireplace to the large window. He asked her to sit with him. She stepped closer to him hesitantly, and Ronan led her to sit on his lap.

"Look, the morning in the capital of Northendell has begun," said Ronan, pointing at a few people who came out of the house to turn off their lights or torches that had been burning all night long. "I was asking, what are you going to do today?"

Arielle rested her head on Ronan’s firm shoulder.

"I don’t know, maybe... meet Priest Elis and apologize to him," she replied doubtfully.

From where she was, Arielle could see people coming out of their house. The woman carrying the basket would go out to buy groceries. A man dragged his cart filled with dry hay to his horse stable. They all looked very busy this morning. Meanwhile, Arielle was still sitting on Ronan’s lap, lazing around.

Ronan planted a peck on Arielle’s forehead.

"Don’t push yourself. If you need more time to think, we can stay here for a few more days."

Arielle looked up quickly.

"Re-really?" she asked in a cheerful voice.

The man nodded. However, that enthusiasm immediately die-down when Arielle thought she should not be selfish. Ronan must have had a lot of work to do. If Arielle kept him here any longer, then it would only trouble the man in the future.

Ronan saw the girl’s spirit crumble.

"This will be a lot of fun. It’s been a long time since I’ve been on vacation and, thanks to you, I have a reason to take a few days off to replace all the sleep I’ve been missing lately."

"Is that true? Are you okay if you don’t return to the palace for a few days?"

"Of course. So, what are we going to do today?"

Arielle, who was so happy, hugged the man’s neck tightly. "I want to be like this for a while."

"We’ve already bought painting equipment, haven’t we? What if you paint the landscape in front of us?" pointed Ronan at the hustle and bustle of the town square and the expanse of houses surrounding it.

Arielle looked at the painting equipment she bought yesterday that she placed on the side of the fireplace.

"Why? Do you need a bigger canvas?" asked Ron.

The girl shook her head. "No, the size is just right. I can finish it in a day."

"I can’t wait to see the results."

Arielle smiled cheerfully and kissed the man’s cheek. She still felt the hangover, but it was not as bad as before. The girl took the canvas and the pencil she had bought yesterday. She chose to sit in front of the coach Ronan was sitting on.

"You don’t want to sit in the chair?" asked the man who saw Arielle choose to sit on the carpeted floor.

"No, the view from here is better," replied the girl, while observing the whole scenery in front of her.

Ronan could see that Arielle was so good at drawing. Starting from drawing a horizontal line and using a perspective. Arielle began to sketch a town square in the center of the canvas and surrounded it with several tall houses.

Ronan came closer to see how Arielle’s hand drew so skillfully on the canvas. Every stroke the girl did look very graceful and precise. Even though it was not perfect or maybe some houses had different size comparisons, Arielle could harmonize them well.

He didn’t know how long Arielle had sketched on the canvas, but Ronan was getting bored. The man stood up to take whatever book he could read to accompany Arielle, who was immersed in her activity, then he sat back on the couch.
