Chapter 388: Arielle Feels Jealous For The First Time

"Is something bothering you?" Ronan asked softly.

Arielle shook her head slowly. It made Ronan slightly tightened his grip on the girl’s neck to feel her pulse.

(She is lying) He smiled crookedly, causing Arielle to avert her eyes.

"Hm... Did Aimee tell you anything about me in the past?" Ronan asked.

There was something Ronan had been worrying about since yesterday. The reason was, the Aimee he used to know was the type of kid who liked to know about adults’ affairs. And Ronan’s past was pretty bad.

In his teenage years, Ronan had a promiscuous life. With Lazarus, he played with many women. Even though his personality was not as bright as Lazarus, he had a past with quite a lot of women...

Ah, Ronan didn’t want to remember that disgusting past. Aimee was one of the living witnesses who knew how he, Lazarus, and William were surrounded by many women.

He stopped playing with women after the dark incident that happened to his family. From then on, Ronan learned a lot about responsibility and cut ties with the women one by one.

If Aimee told Arielle about it, then Ronan could understand why the girl became awkward being next to him.

Ronan released his hands from Arielle’s neck. Then, his hands were on the table while trapping Arielle between his arms. He bent his body to rest his head on the girl’s shoulder.

Arielle could hear Ronan’s long sigh. She felt guilty because Ronan was possibly tired of her attitude.

Arielle realized she was too childish, feeling jealous of something that might not really matter. She kept comparing herself to Aimee until she forgot about Ronan, who was probably exhausted from working all day. Yet, the man had to face Arielle’s immature attitude.

Arielle bit her lip in embarrassment.

"I’m sorry."

"I apologize."

The two of them apologized to each other at the same time. Ronan raised his face as he turned to Arielle.

"Huh?"

The man looked at Arielle’s face, which looked confused. Then, Ronan laughed out loud, feeling strange about the atmosphere between them. Arielle, who was also confused, laughed with Ronan. The man’s laughter rubbed off on her.

Ronan wiped the remaining tears at the corners of his eyes from laughing too hard. It seemed he and Arielle had thought about two different things. Ronan straightened his body again and slowly massaged Arielle’s shoulders to relax her tense muscles.

"Seriously, Arielle. I felt awkward a minute ago. What actually happened?" Ronan asked in a more gentle tone.

Arielle took the man’s hand, holding it tightly. Then, she turned to Ronan with puppy eyes. Ronan twitched slightly at the sight.

"Promise me. If I tell you about it, you won’t laugh or get angry at me?"

Ronan became even more curious right now. What made Arielle so scared that she was afraid that he would be angry? Ronan believed he would never get angry at Arielle, no matter how bad that girl’s mistake was. Unless someone did something bad to Arielle, of course, he would get angry.

He nodded and asked Arielle to sit with him on the couch. Although there was still plenty of space on the couch, Ronan pulled Arielle to sit on his lap.

"What is it? Tell me."

"I ... feel a little envious," Arielle replied while looking at the carpet under her feet. Somehow, it looked much more interesting than having to look into Ronan’s eyes, who were staring at him intently.

"Envy? To whom?"

"But promise me you will not get angry or offended?"

"Yes, I promise."

"T-to Aimee," Arielle replied in a whisper. However, because the room was too quiet, Ronan could hear Arielle’s answer clearly.

Both Ronan and Arielle were silent. Ronan was so shocked that he didn’t know how to respond. He was thinking hard about the things that make Arielle envious of Aimee. From Ronan’s opinion, Aimee didn’t have a single thing worthy of Arielle’s envy.

"Aimee? what makes you jealous of her?" Ronan asked, as he couldn’t find the answer.

Arielle wasn’t sure about her answer. There were many things that made her jealous of Aimee, such as having a close relationship with him and having a past with Ronan.

"Y-you two look very close," replied Arielle who sounded unconvincing.

"Huh? Me? With Aimee?"

Arielle nodded.

"No, Arielle. Me and Aimee are not that close. Aimee is Kael’s younger sister, who is always curious about adult affairs. And because I happened to be friends with Kael, I met Aimee several times, then we spent time together. I wasn’t close to her at all because I was busy with other things... er... yes, other things." Ronan thought he didn’t need to explain the details about him being busy with women back then.

"Oh... that’s how it is."

"Is that the reason you avoided me?"

"I didn’t avoid you!" Arielle exclaimed, making Ronan laugh.

Ronan raised one of his eyebrows, making Arielle’s face blush again.

"I-I mean, Miss Aimee has a lot of things that I don’t have... so I feel a bit insecure."

Ronan muttered, trying to find something in Aimee that Arielle didn’t have. For him, Arielle was a perfect woman, while Aimee couldn’t even control her emotions well.

So what? Their physique? Ronan observed Arielle carefully. He was sure William, Lazarus, and even Kael, as Aimee’s brother, would agree that Arielle was much prettier than Aimee.

"What does Aimee have that you don’t have?"

Arielle wasn’t sure about telling Ronan because it was so embarrassing. Meanwhile, Ronan urged her to tell him because the man was very curious about what Arielle didn’t have. If it was material related, then Ronan would immediately fulfill it.

"Um... Miss Aimee has a family who cares for her and an older brother who loves her like Lord Kael."

"Huh? Only that?"

"Miss Aimee is also very elegant."

"Pfft-" Ronan almost laughed at Arielle’s words, but seeing those serious looking blue eyes, he stopped himself from bursting out laughing. "Sorry, you can continue."

"Um... Miss Aimee also has a lot of memories with you, and you two seem very close when you talk about the past. I... wanted to get involved in the chat, but I didn’t have a single thing to talk about. That’s why I felt a little left behind earlier."

Ok, Ronan knew that the last reason was his fault. He had to apologize immediately for ignoring Arielle when he talked to Aimee in his office earlier. However, Ronan couldn’t stop himself from smiling because he felt that this was the first time he had seen Arielle being jealous!

Ronan really enjoyed Arielle’s jealousy. He let the girl continue to talk about how she didn’t get Ronan’s attention. Ronan shouldn’t get used to enjoying the girl’s jealousy. That would be very dangerous... but he couldn’t lie. He was so happy right now!

Usually, he was always the one who got annoyed if he didn’t get Arielle’s attention. Ronan admitted he got jealous easily over small things. He could be jealous of Sasha, Crimson, William, Kael, Lazarus, Tania, and Lucas. Even a rabbit could make him feel jealous.

"Are you jealous?" Ronan asked with a wide smile.

Arielle was surprised to hear Ronan’s question. Since before, she had tried to avoid using the word jealous because it sounded really bad on her perspective. Arielle didn’t want to be overly possessive, because that might make Ronan uncomfortable of her.

"I’m not jealous, just a little bit envious..."

Ronan looked very satisfied with Arielle’s answer. Well, what’s the difference between envy and jealousy? It sounded the same to his ears.
