Chapter 390: A Father’s Request

With Aimee, Arielle entered the reception room at Whitethorn Palace.

A man with most of his hair had turned to silver smiled kindly at her. He took off his hat, then bowed respectfully as Arielle approached him.

"Thank you for accepting my request to be able to meet you in person, Your Highness. I’m Gipp Perez, Duke of Lamberkin."

"Your welcome, Duke Gipp."

Arielle extended her hand, and Lord Gipp accepted it, then kissed Arielle’s knuckles gently.

Ah, Arielle knew where Lazarus got his Casanova. From the first second Arielle met Lazarus’ father, the man always gave her a big smile.

Duke Gipp widened his eyes when he saw a woman standing behind Arielle.

"Aimee? Are you Aimee?" Duke Gipp asked curiously. He couldn’t believe that Aimee had grown up to be a very beautiful woman.

"Lord Gipp, it’s good to see you again."

"Whoaa, I can’t believe you’ve become a beautiful woman like this. I remember how tall you were," Lord Gipp said while pointing at his stomach with a big laugh.

Aimee smiled awkwardly because she remembered her father almost had a fight with Duke Gipp, because Aimee nearly beat Lazarus to death.

At first, Duke Gipp thought it was Kael who beat Lazarus. When he found out it was an eight-year-old girl who hit his son, Duke Gipp just burst out laughing. Duke Gipp was a Casanova at a young age. He said he could never be mad at a woman, so Duke Gipp let Aimee off the hook.

"Wow, time flies really fast. His Majesty the King who is getting married and also Aimee, who has grown up," Duke Gipp said, while wiping the remaining tears at the corners of his eyes. He was moved.

Arielle and Aimee looked at each other, then smiled at the man.

After taking a deep breath, Duke Gipp conveyed the purpose of his visit.

"I’m sorry to interrupt your time during the day, Your Highness. I visited with the intention of talking about Lazarus."

Lazarus? There was a slight desire for Arielle to see Aimee’s expression, but she knew it was rude so Arielle refrained herself by sitting down facing Duke Gipp.

Aimee bent down to whisper to Arielle.

"Your Highness, I ask for permission to leave the room for a moment," she asked, and Arielle nodded.

"Lord Gipp, it’s nice to meet you, but I have a few more things to do," Aimee said, then bid her goodbye to Lazarus’ father.

"Ah, even though I still want to chat with you, Aimee. But I understand that you’re busy. Well then, I hope we can meet again," Duke Gipp replied.

And without further ado, Aimee left the room. Arielle didn’t know what business Aimee had because as far as Arielle knew, the girl had no other task but to accompany her. Or maybe Aimee still needed to ask Lucas a few things?

"Your Highness," Duke Gipp called, bringing Arielle out of her thoughts.

"Yes, Lord Gipp?"

Duke Gipp took out his handkerchief and wiped the nonexistent tears from the corners of his eyes. Wow, Arielle could see the resemblances between Lazarus and his father.

"I have heard about what happened to Lazarus a while ago. I want to personally show you my gratitude for believing in Lazarus and proving that my son is not the father of the child who was found in the palace."

Ah, so it was about that incident...

"Your Highness, as a result of that incident, I think... before anything unpleasant happens again, wouldn’t it be better if Lazarus got married sooner, Your Highness?" Duke Gipp asked.

Arielle didn’t know how to answer that question because she thought that the decision would surely come back to Lazarus. She didn’t know if the man wanted to get married soon or not. However, Arielle couldn’t break the hope of the old man in front of her, who looked genuinely worried about his son.

"I-I think so," Arielle replied.

"Oh, thank you, Moon Goddess... You also agree with me. I have discussed this many times with His Majesty the King, but it always ends with no response."

Ronan and Lazarus were close friends, so it was only natural that Ronan didn’t want to interfere because it was Lazarus’ life. Ronan wanted to respect it.

"I am very old, Your Highness. Of course, I want my son to inherit what I have now. I have a desire for Lazarus to be the next Duke of Lamberkin, but as you know... Lazarus is very fond of his life, sails for months and returns in a few days before sailing again."

Arielle nodded. She understood Duke Gipp’s concern. Lazarus was a free soul.

"When I found out Lazarus is going to stay longer in the North, I thought Lazarus had changed. However, this old man’s frail heart had to accept the bitterness of what had happened some time ago. Even I got the good news that it is not true, I still feel anxious about Lazarus’ future."

"Your Highness...." Duke Gipp called her. "I beg your help in convincing Lazarus to return to our residence to inherit my title. And... if you have a female relative or close friend whom Lazarus feels compatible with, please help them get acquainted with him. Because if I did, Lazarus would never listen to me."

Ariel was silent. She never expected that Duke Gipp would ask for her help to introduce someone to his son. Arielle knew no one in the North apart from Aimee and Tania. Aimee obviously wouldn’t want it. And Tania... Arielle was amused by her own thoughts.

"Lord Gipp, it’s not that I don’t want to help... It’s just that I only lived in the North for a few months, and I don’t know many people."

"Ah, I can understand your position. However, in the future, when you become a queen, you will often hold parties at the palace, right? Surely, you will meet many noblewomen there."

Arielle wasn’t sure about that. She had even planned to reduce the number of parties in the future because she wanted to focus on exploring her power.

Ronan had known about it, and the man didn’t mind it at all. Apart from that reason, Arielle also didn’t want to make Ronan uncomfortable because Ronan didn’t really like crowds.
