Chapter 402: The Grumpy Meets The Sunshine

Ronan took off his mask. Since on the way to the palace, he was in an awful mood. The agreement with Wolgast that had been running for several months had to be postponed.

It was due to the change in the status of the neutral area that was handed to the South. Thebis voiced their objection. They didn’t want to cross the Northendell route to the Wolgast Kingdom. Thus, they postponed the liaison agreement until the new king’s meeting held at the end of the year.

Everything would have gone smoothly if Thebis had not interfered. William couldn’t dare touch Ronan. He was too afraid to approach the man, even just to offer food.

After they had a meeting without resting, Ronan went back alone. Luckily, William was always near the man, so he could catch up with Ronan, who rode his horse speedily.

Ronan arrived at the library and stopped in his tracks after seeing Arielle was sleeping on the couch. A blanket was draped over her body. He walked slowly, taking off his snow-drenched coat.

Seeing Arielle, who was sleeping soundly, his anger subsided. He chose to sit on the floor while leaning his chin on the couch. Their faces were so close that Ronan could see Arielle’s blushing cheeks. He really wanted to touch the girl’s face, but he realized that his hands were still cold. If he touched Arielle, then the girl might wake up.

Seeing Arielle’s sleeping face made Ronan feel sleepy too. After three days in a nerve-wracking state, Ronan regained his composure, and it made him sleepy. He closed his eyes and rested for a while.

Arielle felt her hand tied to something. She tried to lift her hand, which felt heavier than usual. After she touched it several times, she believed it was not her own hand. Those big, rough hands felt very familiar. Arielle blinked her eyes, trying to wake up from her sleep.

Her eyes felt very heavy. She seemed to have slept longer than she should have.

"Are you awake?" someone asked in a hoarse voice.

Arielle quickly turned to her side and found Ronan who was sitting on the floor nearby.

"Ronan? When did you come back?" Arielle asked. She immediately got up from her position and told Ronan to sit on the couch. Ronan was rubbing his eyes while yawning.

"Hm ... a few hours ago," he replied.

Ronan climbed onto the sofa and put his head on Arielle’s lap. He slept while holding Arielle’s hand. Arielle stroked Ronan’s messy hair. The man looked so exhausted that he slept right away.

When she accompanied Ronan to have a rest, Arielle remembered she had a schedule to meet with the decoration team. She looked at the clock on the wall, then frowned because the promised time had passed a few hours ago. Why didn’t Aimee inform her?

Ronan squirming in his sleep. He turned to hug Arielle’s body. Ronan was a neat man, but after three days of not seeing him, she noticed Ronan’s chin and jaw had thin hair.

Arielle rubbed it gently, making Ronan groan in his sleep. It reminded Arielle when she touched the ears of Ronan’s wolf. Her hand slowly went up to the man’s earlobe, which felt cold. Ronan tightened his arms on Arielle’s waist, making the girl stifled.

"I... can’t breathe," Arielle said as she tried to remove Ronan’s tight arms.

Only then did Ronan release his arms. He sat down while keeping his distance from Arielle. "I want to touch you."

"You’ve been touching me all this time," Arielle replied, making Ronan chuckle softly.

"Yeah... you’re right, I mean in another way."

Arielle approached him, then cupped Ronan’s face gently. "Our wedding is only a few days away. You can wait for it, can’t you?"

Ronan nodded weakly. He would not delay their marriage any longer. Even if the agreement with Wolgast was being postponed for the next few months, Ronan wouldn’t mind it. He could still finish it later after they got married.

Arielle had to be his wife first.

"You don’t want to shave your beard?’ Arielle asked, making Ronan frown. He glanced at the girl’s fingers that were playing with his beard.

Ronan positioned his body facing Arielle. He bit his lower lip to stop himself from smiling when Arielle looked at his beard while stroking it gently. "You don’t like it? I feel more manly with this beard." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Ronan pushed back Arielle’s body gently. The girl’s hands wrapped around his neck automatically. He purposely rubbed his cheek against Arielle’s cheek, making the girl laugh. When the opportunity arose, he stole Arielle’s lips in a rough kiss.

Arielle closed her eyes tightly as Ronan’s beard rubbed against her face. It felt weird. Rough and tingling.

"Ronan ... it is tingling," Arielle said in between their kisses.

Ronan, who didn’t get his kisses for three days, ignored Arielle’s protest. He continued to suck the sweetness of the girl’s lips. Ronan growled softly, feeling Arielle’s mouth sweeter than usual.

"Have you eaten the Frostberry?’ Ronan asked while biting Arielle’s lower lip again, asking for an access to enter the girl’s mouth.

"Hm.. I tried the cake with Frostberry jam. If you want, there’s still some left on the table."

"Hm-hm, I’d rather try it straight from your mouth," Ronan replied. He kept sticking his tongue in search of Arielle’s tongue.

"It’s dirty, Ronan," Arielle replied with a chuckle.

Ronan continued to taste Arielle’s mouth fully. His hand squeezed Arielle’s waist. Before something down there woke up, he broke their kiss. Arielle’s breath hitched, and he really liked the sight. Ronan could see the area around Arielle’s lips were red, maybe because of his beard?

Ronan stood up and lifted Arielle with him. "Hey, where are we going?" Arielle asked in confusion when Ronan suddenly carried her.

"Follow me for a moment," he replied simply.

Elsewhere, Aimee accompanied William and Kael to have lunch together. She listened attentively to William’s story about the reason Ronan got angry.

"You know, Ronan was really grumpy before he met Princess Arielle. I can differentiate Ronan’s anger, but I almost thought that Ronan would kill King Wolgast on the spot yesterday, so I didn’t even dare to offer him a meal," William said, half laughing with his mouth full of food.

"Is it terrible when he’s angry?" Aimee asked. She could never believe that Ronan was such a cruel person. She knew that Ronan was the one who threw the nobles out of Northendell. Most people also had a terrible impression of him. However, in Aimee’s memory, Ronan was just a cold person.

"Before meeting Princess Arielle, I even slept in the stables a few times if I made a small mistake. Fortunately, there is Princess Arielle who can control the man’s emotions now," replied William, and Kael also nodded.

Aimee drank her drink slowly. She knew Arielle was unique from the first time she met the girl. Arielle was so gentle even to animals, William said. Maybe it was because Ronan had a wolf’s side that they were compatible.

"Ahem, may I join?"

Aimee, Kael, and William turned towards the door. Lazarus stood there awkwardly. William moved to his seat to make room for Lazarus to sit with him.

"Nice. Another nightmare," Aimee muttered quietly.
