Chapter 441: Busy Days Before Wedding

The royal wedding had only three days left. Everyone was busy with the preparations and other activities that needed to be done before the d-day. Starting from Aimee and Tania, who had to keep Arielle happy until her wedding day, they also maintained a diet for Arielle. Even though Ronan forbade it, Arielle had agreed to go back on a diet until her wedding day came.

Aimee and Tania never neglected their responsibilities as the closest people to the princess. They fulfilled all of Arielle’s needs with passion. Of course, they were also enthusiastic about the princess’s wedding, so they also worked hard to make Arielle’s once-in-a-lifetime wedding come true.

Aimee also acted as the princess’s bodyguard if the princess left her room so as not to meet the king. During those three days, the two of them should not meet, whether intentionally or not. Both must be prevented from meeting each other. Aimee even asked her brother, Kael, to provide additional guards in case an uninvited guest sneaked in at night without them knowing.

Sasha also arrived as a messenger from the Ferdi couple who also just got married a week ago. Their wedding was held simply without a party. Only friends and family they could trust were invited. Viscount Ferdi and his wife congratulated the princess on her wedding. They also thanked her for bringing their family back together.

Sasha also brought Crimson with him to accompany the princess, so three days before the wedding, Arielle used her time to play with Sasha, Crimson, and her five rabbits.

The day passed quickly, and the wedding would be held in less than two days. The capital was getting busier and busier with visitors from outside the city or other kingdoms to see the royal couple’s parade. Although the wedding of the king and the princess of the South was held privately in the chapel of the former queen, the two still held a parade to greet the citizens of Northendell.

Kael and Lazarus were busy with the security. Lazarus went back to the harbor to ensure no smugglers’ ships entered through the Northendell harbor, and Kael had spread some of his troops to guard the capital, as the capital was getting busier with visitors. They didn’t want the North’s happy day to be disturbed by the group of bandits or pickpockets who troubled the citizens.

As the knight commander, Kael also prepared troops to guard the royal couple’s parade later. Every morning and evening, he received reports about the current situation of the capital and the roads that would be passed by the parade later. It had been cleared of the possibility of chaos. Everything must go perfectly until the wedding day of the king and the princess.

William was busy with meeting the delegations sent by other kingdoms who had come to congratulate the princess and the king. Because Ronan forbade Arielle to receive guests until their wedding day and he also did not want to be bothered with the formalities from the other royal delegations, Ronan told William to receive all the guests.

William was talking to the delegation that the Wolgast Kingdom had sent. They brought dozens of chests filled with silk as wedding gifts for the king and the princesses from the South. William, who was always in charge as a negotiator and Ronan’s right-hand man, received the gift on behalf of the king.

Not only the royal delegation, various nobles also wanted to show their happiness by meeting the bride, but William always refused their requests with the same answer that the bride had to rest a lot on the wedding day. That was his duty, to be the spokesman for the kingdom when the king did not want to see anyone. However, his main duty was to keep the groom’s fickle mood stable until the wedding day.

William made a note to ask Ronan to buy him a castle when he was old as a result of his hard work.

Lucas walked back and forth to make sure of the condition of the palace so that everything was perfect for the princess’s wedding day. As the person in charge of the palace, Lucas didn’t even have the opportunity to rest because he had to order all the servants, maids, and guards to make the palace more beautiful. The installation of the decorations, the maintenance of the gardens, and anything related to the needs of the courtiers were his responsibilities.

Lucas had worked at the palace longer than the other. He was still very young, but he had worked in the palace with his father since childhood. Lucas became a servant, taking the place of his deceased father. He used to see how lively parties were in this palace, but since the day of the king’s coronation, the parties that were often held have been removed from the agenda. The new king would only open the palace for a party on his birthday

Thus, Lucas was very happy to be able to celebrate something at Northendell Palace again because it could make the atmosphere of the palace warmer. All thanks for the presence of the princess. Lucas was daydreaming while smiling happily until a servant approached him, saying that the decorations for the bridal chamber had not arrived. Then, he was back at work.

Elsewhere, Priest Elis visited his father to make sure that Priest Louis was ready to be the one who would marry off the king and the princess. He watched his father, who was looking in the mirror to see himself wearing the high priest clothes the man had taken off a long time ago.

Priest Elis complimented his father, who still looked handsome in his old age, and Priest Louise laughed.

"Everyone is happy?" Priest Louise asked his son.

Priest Elis showed a subtle smile. "Everyone is happy without exception, Father," he replied, making Priest Louise nod proudly.

"I hope I can live longer to see the spring with my own eyes." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"I’m sure it won’t be long, Father."

"My gut tells me the same thing"
