Chapter 480: A New Connection

Arielle leaned against the table while waiting for Ronan to finish putting on his clothes. She did not know how long she would be here. However, Ronan had to get back before the sun rose.

The girl went back to cooking. She chopped a few pieces of chicken that Lord Otis had brought and then put it on the iron stove hanging above the fireplace. Ronan returned to repair Arielle’s bed so that it would not be easily damaged in the future.

"So... how long will you be here?" Ronan asked while smoothing the hinge he had made.

Arielle was stirring the soup she made and looked back for a moment.

"I don’t know. Maybe more than a month because I have a lot to learn."

"More than two months?" asked Ronan again.

"Yes, and it’s just a guess."

"Three? Four? Five months? One year? Can I visit you again?"

Arielle put down her wooden spoon and walked to him slowly. She hugged Ronan’s back from behind very gently.

"I can’t give a definite answer, but I will definitely return to our house. And did you know that you can hear my voice without talking right now?"

Ronan looked back with furrowed brows. "What do you mean?"

"Look at my lips."

The man lowered his gaze to Arielle’s lips who were smiling sweetly.

(I love you)

Ronan’s frown deepened. He put back down the bed he was lifting.

"Say it one more time."

(You can hear my voice now?)

Ronan gasped. His mouth was slightly open, not believing what he was hearing. Arielle’s lips didn’t move. His ears didn’t hear a sound. but Arielle’s voice buzzed in her head.

"Arielle? Since when?"

"Maybe after you marked me," Arielle replied. "I can also hear your voice without you needing to turn into a wolf first."

"Really?"

Arielle chuckled, seeing his face light up again. "Yeah, that’s true. Try saying something and I’ll answer it."

(I love you, Arielle. Very-very-very-very-very-very much love you)

Arielle couldn’t stop her loud laughter. Ronan didn’t just say it in his head. The man’s expression also seemed to be voicing the inside of his head. Arielle held both sides of Ronan’s face.

(You’re exaggerating. One time is enough. But thank you, I love you so much too.)

"What?! That was really surprising, Arielle."

"I know. At first, I was also surprised when you replied to what I said earlier, and I realized that you can read my mind."

"Is this what it means to perfect our bond?"

Arielle wasn’t sure about that. However, it seemed that the two minds would no longer know the distance this time. No matter how far Arielle and Ronan were, they would always be connected to each other. That was why Lord Otis suggested to Arielle, who finally controlled her mana a bit, to ask Ronan to mark her right away because after this the two of them would be separated again.

"And Ronan, I said earlier that I know how to bring back spring to the North. Lord Otis has told me everything."

"I will listen carefully. Arielle, for the rest of the night, please tell me everything you know so I can return to the palace in peace."

Arielle nodded. "Ah, before that, I’ll finish the soup for a bit."

Ronan nodded. He also needed to finish the remaining two feet of the girl’s bed again.

Arielle added a few pieces of vegetables that she had washed to the boiling soup. She took a bowl and cleaned it. Ronan had finished strengthening Arielle’s bed. While waiting for the girl, he looked around to make sure that the hut was suitable for Arielle to live in.

"You really can’t live in that castle? This place is too small for you," said Ronan, who saw a chest with a broken hinge on the lid, where Arielle kept her clothes and blankets. It seemed the dresses were also from Lord Otis because it was thinner than normal northern dresses.

"Honestly, I prefer to stay here. The castle is a complete mess. Maybe if I lived there, I’d end up tidying up all the trash there. Lord Otis said the dragon clan was one of the most barbaric clans in Birwick, so cleaning their castle was a waste of time. The last time Lord Otis cleaned their castle was almost sixty years ago. Besides, they were very noisy. I once had to take one of the dragon clan children who got lost here at night, and it turned out that they were partying in the ruins and dust. I couldn’t bear seeing them. It’s very hard not to scold them for being upset."

Ronan laughed at his wife’s annoyed expression.

"Are they that bad?" he asked.

"I don’t know. Some adult dragons are really hard to talk to, like Miss Violet earlier who escorted Otis here. She even pretended not to hear me, but their children were quite adorable. There is one of the children of the dragon clan who is starting to get close to me. His name is Luffy. He has a defect in his wings, so he is often bullied by the other dragons. Sometimes, he helps me to train my strength."

"Are there no other humans besides you and Otis here?"

After going around inspecting all the parts of Arielle’s hut, Ronan sat down on a wooden chair that was near the dining table in the middle of the room. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"Lord Otis said, in Birwick Mountain, there are only four humans. The rest are mythical creatures such as werewolves, dragons, monkey demons, water dragons, to horned horses who are often called unicorns. However, Otis said these unicorns are very rare and they chose to live in a hidden place. Until now, in Lord Otis’ life, he had never seen any of them."

Ronan wasn’t particularly interested in the mythical creatures. However, there was one thing that made him wonder.

"You said there were two other humans on this Birwick Mountain?" asked Ronan
