Chapter 726: The Sun At The End Of Horizon

Rows of blue and white uniformed troops lined up to welcome them. This place looked small and isolated while being surrounded by giant, high walls. It was shaped like a hill where there was a house at the top of the hill.

The carriage door was opened. Before getting off, Arielle tried to tidy herself up. She got off while being assisted by Kael and caught up with Ronan who shook hands with several high-ranking officers of the Marine Military Forces. Seeing Arielle approaching them, the five supreme captains bowed respectfully.

"Welcome to Northendell Naval Base, Your Majesty the Queen. It is an honor for us to have been given the opportunity to welcome you to our proud place today."

Ronan allowed Arielle to shake hands with all five captains. The girl stepped forward and held out her hand to greet them.

"Thank you for your hard work. I will enjoy my time here."

"We will do our best to serve you."

Lazarus turned to William proudly. William just rolled his eyes in exasperation. He hated this place the most. Because for him, this place showed how important Lazarus was, whereas if he was with the man, they would become a pair of clowns between the reserved Ronan and the quiet Kael.

Lazarus stepped forward. "Your Majesty, since it is already evening, let me show you the resting place."

Ronan and Arielle followed the path that Lazarus pointed out. The two of them walked around a row of houses. Lazarus then explained several important places in that small town. He even introduced some of his favorite spots, which had great views. After that, they went up the stairs in a detour.

Lazarus walked first, while Arielle and Ronan were behind him. Irene and Aimee also followed them, with Kael and William guarding them in the back. They continued up the hill that had been paved well. However, when they just half climbed the hill, Arielle stopped. She turned to the side and realized that she was in a higher position than the city walls.

Arielle could see a very wide lake. Err, no, it was an expanse of sea surface. She tried to find the end of it, but she could see nothing but a stunning view of blue water with a tinge of green.

In the middle of the sea, there was a lighthouse whose lights were on.

"Whaaa!" exclaimed Arielle slowly.

Irene also showed the same reaction.

"Is that the sea?" she asked excitedly, and Aimee gave a confirmation.

"Is there an end to it?" Arielle asked curiously.

Ronan gently pulled his wife’s hand to walk again. They would get a more breathtaking view if they climbed higher.

"People say that the earth comes from a collection of water. The ground that we are standing on is only a small part of it," Ronan replied.

"Is the sea very deep?"

"Yup, we don’t know what’s in there. It is easier to reach the sky than to find the end of the sea."

"Sounds scary," Arielle replied while frowning briefly as she got excited again upon seeing the sea that she once could see in the book.

Ronan smiled. Even though his wife said that it was scary, her face looked very enthusiastic.

"When will we get a closer look at the sea?" asked Arielle impatiently.

"Tomorrow afternoon. Using that ship."

Ronan pointed to a ship that was the biggest in the row of other ships. It was Miss Merry, the name Lazarus had given to his beloved ship. The ship had accompanied Lazarus and his men to explore the world, visiting several continents in search of possible information to break the curse of Northendell.

At the end of the ship there was a statue of a woman with a fish-shaped tail on the lower part. Her curly hair made of carved wood looked like fluttering by a soothing breeze.

"Very beautiful!"

Lazarus refrained from blushing. He was so weak to be praised. His head could get huge if he kept getting praise like that.

Finally, after a while, they arrived at the house on the top of the hill. The two-stories house looked simple. There were four bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. The house, like most other houses, was not meant for high-ranking officials. It was only a temporary residence.

Ronan and Arielle would occupy the main bedroom, which was on the top floor, while Aimee and Irene would be in the same bedroom.

Kael and William would occupy the room downstairs, and Lazarus would use the last available room, all alone. The house still had many empty boxes that Lazarus hadn’t had time to clean yet. Most of the rooms were full of dust and cobwebs.

Lazarus had not visited the house in a long time because he simply had no chance and time. The last time he visited the place was when he was preparing the ship, as well as the goods he had to bring to Nieverdell via sea to be given as items for a marriage proposal for Arielle.

Since then, Lazarus didn’t have time to ask the woman who usually cleaned the house every time he visited because most of the time, he would be sleeping in his office.

Arielle went upstairs to enter the room that Lazarus had provided. She immediately opened the window to look out where the sea was. The waves swayed slightly as the scent of the sea brought by the breeze brushed her hair. The lakes or rivers never had waves as high as this. Also, far off the horizon, Arielle could see the tinge of orange spread beautifully.

"If we go to the east, close to the Northendell and Wolgast end bridges, you’ll be able to see a bit of the sun rising. And, if you visit the far west, you will be able to see a bit of the sunset," said Ronan, who joined his wife to see the sun sinking at the far end of the horizon.

"The sun seems within my reach. How long will it take to get to the end of the sun?" Arielle asked innocently.
