Chapter 797: The Cold Treatment

Prince Khaled then asked Arielle’s permission to go back to his room.

"Your Majesty, do you need anything?" Lucas asked.

"It’s already late, Lucas. I’ll probably just take a bath first, then rest as the doctor advised earlier."

"Sure, I’ll prepare it for you."

Arielle shook her head.

"I can do it myself. You can go back to your room and rest. I’ve used your room for a few days on the ship and made you sleep on the floor with the other merchants. Use these two days to rest since I’m not going anywhere."

Lucas nodded in understanding.

"I understand, Your Majesty."

Arielle waved her hand and said good night to Lucas before closing the door. She looked around the room, which felt stuffy. There were no windows. Only a small ventilation above the wall which was high for her to reach.

The only source of light was a candle on the bedside. Arielle checked the bathroom. There was a larger window near the bathtub. She then took off her clothes and started filling the water.

Arielle took a bath without turning on the light because the moonlight already streamed through the window. It was enough to light up the room.

As the girl entered the tub, she let out a sigh. The water in the tub was very cold. Somehow, it felt relaxing because ever since arriving at Thebis, she had been sweating a lot. The dry and hot air felt stifling.

"Arielle?" called Ronan from outside the bathroom, looking for his wife.

Arielle took a deep breath. For some reason, she felt so annoyed at her husband. So she just closed her eyes and pretended not to hear Ronan’s call.

Until the bathroom door swung open. Arielle then put on a surprise expression and gave the man a subtle smile.

"Oh, here you are. I am looking for you."

"I’m just cleaning my body from sweat."

"I have been calling you," said Ronan, sitting on the edge of the bath.

"I was probably daydreaming earlier, so I couldn’t hear your call."

Ronan watched Arielle’s face carefully. The man reached out to touch both sides of her face and drew closer, resting his forehead on her shoulder.

Arielle reflexively backed away, making Ronan taken aback.

"Arielle?"

"Ah... sorry. I was a little surprised because there wasn’t any light here."

Ronan did not immediately believe his wife’s words. Instead, he sized up the girl carefully.

"Ah, somehow I also feel hot. Maybe I’ll take a shower too."

Ronan then took off his clothes one by one. He looked up as Arielle suddenly stood up, making the water in the tub ripple and wet the floor.

"If you want to take a bath, you can use it. I am done."

Receiving such a cold attitude from Arielle, Ronan was stunned in place. It was obvious that Arielle was avoiding him. He watched the girl dry her body in a hurry.

There might be no light in the bathroom, but Ronan could distinctly see every curve of his wife’s body from behind.

Arielle put down the towel, put on a long evening dress, and left Ronan alone.

The man momentarily fell silent, trying to remember what mistakes he had made. However, as far as he could remember, he had done absolutely nothing to upset Arielle.

Ronan would know if he had annoyed Arielle, because he would have apologized right away. But so far, their relationship was fine. He was still allowed to sleep while hugging her.

"What happened?" Ronan asked into the void.

Arielle took a deep breath while combing her hair in front of a dull mirror. She felt a bit guilty for leaving Ronan in the bathroom alone. But she also couldn’t be alone with him for long.

They hadn’t had sex in days, and it seemed like Ronan didn’t plan to do it anytime soon either. Arielle didn’t want to look desperate. That was why she tried to stay away from her husband as much as she could.

Arielle heard the sound of rippling water from the bathroom, which meant her husband was cleaning his body after several days of not taking a bath on the ship.

The girl then lay down on the bed. She forced herself to sleep, so she wouldn’t have to deal with Ronan.

When the bathroom door was opened, Arielle closed her eyes tightly. Her heart pounded fast upon hearing the approaching footsteps. She could only pray in her heart that Ronan would sleep immediately or leave her alone to join Lucas or William.

After several minutes of silence, Arielle could hear Ronan leaving the room. She let out a sigh of relief when the door closed again.

Ronan was gone.

Arielle pushed her body to sit and rubbed her face because she was exhausted from having to endure her desires alone.

CLICK!

"Eh?"

Arielle looked to the side and saw Ronan stand there with a towel hanging around his waist. The man held the doorknob while smiling mischievously at her. Feeling amused to catch his wife pretending to sleep.

Arielle’s face reddened with embarrassment. She felt like being caught stealing something that didn’t belong to her.

"Um... you’re still here?"

"You wish I was somewhere else, Arielle?"

Arielle was at a loss for words. She couldn’t answer Ronan’s question and chose to remain silent.

"Did I do something to upset you?" asked Ronan who moved away from the door, approaching Arielle who hung her head low in shame.

The girl shook her head.

"Are you mad at me?" Ronan asked again, caressing Arielle’s face with one of his hands and touching her chin so the girl looked up at him.

Arielle looked up, but her eyes looked elsewhere. She then shook her head.

His wife was really bad at lying.

"Then, something upset you?"

Again, Arielle just shook her head without uttering a word. All of Ronan’s questions were only answered with a shake of her head.

"Tell me why you are behaving like this."

"Behave like what? I don’t feel like giving you a different attitude," Arielle said, raising her voice slightly without realizing it.

Oh! Ronan really liked his wife’s attitude this time!
