Lucky Spin: Godly Programming-Chapter 95: Traumatized
Chapter 95: Chapter 95: Traumatized
After having the time of their lives, it was already lunchtime, so inside the mall, Jessica took him to a bento shop.
It was a Japanese restaurant that reflected it’s traditional culture. Once inside, they sat near the corner where the lighting was low and soft music played in the background.
After ordering, they began to eat. Jessica fidgeted with her chopsticks, and since there was no spoon or even a fork, he decided to just use his hands.
Seeing this, Jessica was petrified. "Uhh, you don’t know how to use chopsticks?" she asked.
Jeff looked at her as if to say, isn’t it obvious? but he didn’t speak as he just simply nodded his head.
Some of the people inside glanced at him, feeling a bit puzzled. After all, who would eat at a place like this without knowing how to use chopsticks?
But everyone quickly returned their focus to their own food. It wasn’t really offensive, and after all, this was the Philippines, not Japan, so it was all good.
After finishing their meal, a waitress came over, wearing a cute and kawaii-style waiter uniform. She politely asked if he wanted to order anything else.
"Bring me 30 rice," he muttered casually, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
Everyone nearby froze, stunned by what they just heard.
Jessica, who was drinking some water, choked and struggled to swallow it all, but somehow managed to get it down.
The other customers inside felt like their ears had just been assaulted, some even wondered if their hearing was playing tricks on them.
Meanwhile, an old man who had long lost his hearing suddenly perked up, miraculously hearing every word he had just said.
"Uhh, what. Aren’t I deaf?" the old man said as he sat back down, lifting his shaking hand to touch his ears in disbelief.
"Grandpa, you can hear again!" a woman cried, hugging him with joy as they celebrated the sudden miracle and then left the restaurant together.
The other customers, along with the waitress, were left dumbfounded, unsure if it had been real or just an act.
Shaking her head in disbelief, the waitress turned her attention back to the two at the table.
"Umm, sir. You’re not joking, right?" the waitress asked with a wry smile.
"No, I’m not," he replied calmly.
"But 30? That’s a bit too much," she said, still unsure.
"Thirty is too much? That’s clearly too low for me. If I’m alone, I would’ve eaten twenty more," Jeff growled in his mind.
"Just give him thirty bowls of rice. Don’t worry, we can pay," Jessica said, reassuring the waitress.
Jessica’s mind felt like it was about to collapse for a moment, and seeing that the waitress wasn’t following the customer’s order made her visibly dissatisfied.
Her brows furrowed slightly, lips pressing into a thin line as she crossed her arms, clearly not pleased with the hesitation.
The waitress stood frozen for a moment, holding her notepad tightly. A small, nervous smile clung to her lips, but her eyes clearly showed hesitation.
"I-I understand, ma’am," she replied gently to Jessica, "but we do have a policy in the restaurant..."
She looked at Jeff, then back at Jessica.
"If a customer orders large quantities of food especially rice and can’t finish it, it’s considered food waste under our kitchen policy. We try our best to avoid throwing food away since each bowl is cooked fresh and we’re committed to minimizing waste. We also charge a wastage fee if more than five bowls are left untouched."
Her voice was soft and was very respectful to not offend the customers.
"It’s not that we don’t want to serve him. We just have to make sure we’re being responsible. I hope you understand."
The waitress looked at them both, clearly feeling helpless. If the handsome young man could really finish it, she’d serve it without a second thought.
But if not she’d have to answer to the chef, the manager, and possibly cover the penalty herself.
Jessica blinked, finally understanding the weight of what seemed like a simple order.
"I see, can you explain more about your so-called policy?" she asked, genuinely curious now.
The waitress gave a small, understanding nod before explaining.
"It’s actually a policy we take seriously because of two main reasons. First, out of respect for food. In Japanese culture, and even here in the Philippines, leaving large amounts of food uneaten is seen as wasteful and sometimes even disrespectful. Every grain of rice is grown, harvested, and prepared with care and so we want to honor that effort."
She paused as she then continues, her tone still warm and sincere.
"Second, it’s about sustainability. Cooking rice in large batches that end up uneaten increases not just food waste, but also our water and electricity usage. It raises our operating costs and creates unnecessary strain on the kitchen. We’re not a buffet or a fast-food chain, we cook per order to keep everything fresh."
She glanced at Jeff, then at Jessica again, "We’re not trying to make things difficult. We just want to make sure that what we serve is enjoyed and not wasted. Dear Ma’am and Sir"
Hearing what she said, Jessica looked at Jeff, feeling a bit hesitant for herself to pressure the kind and honest waitress.
She was just about to tell the waitress to forget it when Jeff spoke up.
"Alright then, how about we start with five servings? Is that good?" he asked.
"Yes, that’s good dear customer. What about your girlfriend? Does she also want to add anything other than rice?" the waitress asked.
Being called his girlfriend again didn’t make her shy. In fact, it made her feel comfortable and happy, as she had already accepted the title in her heart.
"No, I’m good. Just let him order whatever he wants," she replied softly.
With that, the young waitress left and soon returned with his servings. She gave a polite bow and turned to walk back to the counter.
Just as she was about to reach it, someone called out to her.
She looked back with a smile, curious which customer needed her. Then she saw a hand that was raised, and it was none other than the handsome young man.
"Five more bowls of rice, please," he said.
At that moment, the waitress’s worldview began to be shattered into pieces.
...
After a while, the two of them stepped out of the restaurant as Jeff let out a satisfied burp. Behind them, the young waitress stood at the entrance, bowing deeply.
She was covered in sweat, completely exhausted, and mentally shattered. This was the first time she had witnessed something so bizarre.
"Thank you, dear customer... please... come back again," she said weakly.
As the two responded to her thanks, they left the restaurant. While walking, Jessica, who was right beside him, burst into laughter.
"Look at what you did to the waitress. She’s probably traumatized now," she said, still giggling.
Jeff who was walking casually as if nothing happened, raised his brows at her words.
"She was?" he asked, genuinely confused.
"Of course she was, since who wouldn’t be? Even me experiencing it for the second time was in disbelief," she responded.
"Ohh," he replied, glancing down at his stomach that still didn’t feel full.
"That makes me wonder, where did all that food you ate go?" she asked, eyeing him with a curios look.
Jeff looked at her with a serious expression. Seeing him suddenly so intense made her straighten up, her own mood turning serious as well.
"Don’t tell anyone, okay?" he said in a low voice.
She nodded firmly, sensing that it must be something important and confidential.
Jeff then slowly raised his hand, pointing a single finger before moving it down dramatically until it arrived in very serious spot.
"It’s in my invincible dragon," he whispered.
She followed his finger with a serious expression, genuinely curious about what he was about to reveal.
But the moment her eyes landed on where he was pointing, her face turned bright red like a tomato.
She gnashed her teeth, stomping her foot as she quickly fastened her pace. Thus, leaving him behind.
"Pervert! You and your invincible dragon, Bahhh~"
Seeing her reaction, Jeff burst into laughter. For him to joke around for a girl can only meant one thing, their bond had grown much closer.
