Chapter 296: Chapter 297 Questions From the Queen

The palace was really big. Ethan could even get lost exploring the palace, and of course, there were places he wasn’t allowed to enter.

Ethan passed through the hallway where he had already seen and was planning to go forward when he heard a familiar voice.

"Ethan"

He turned around and saw the Queen standing there with maids and guards behind her; where he was heading wasn’t locked, so he wasn’t in trouble, so Ethan bowed his head.

"Follow me?" The Queen spoke and began walking away.

Ethan didn’t ask any questions and just followed the Queen; he followed her till they arrived at the Queen’s room, where the maids opened the door and stopped there.

The Queen entered with Ethan following behind and the door was closed behind him.

’This is happening faster than I thought, but who am I to complain’ Ethan smirked as the Queen proceeded to sit down. freёnovelkiss.com

"Have a seat," The Queen said, and Ethan sat down.

"Is something wrong?" Ethan asked. Immediately, he sat down.

If the Queen wanted them to have sex, she would have gone about this a different way, but they were sitting down, and she had a serious expression on her face.

Ethan wasn’t afraid that something might’ve happened; he was just curious; he hadn’t done anything wrong, so he had nothing to worry about.

"Nothing is wrong; since I’m the Queen of the entire kingdom, I decided to do a little findings about you," The Queen spoke.

"The reason I selected you was three reasons, first, Anna liked you from the moment she saw you, second, you’re handsome and Anna is beautiful so my grandchild would be beautiful or handsome, I want a male child"

"And finally, you are quite skilled in both magic and swordsmanship. The academy doesn’t teach swordsmanship, so I’m sure you learned on your own, right?"

"Yes, I did," Ethan answered, as he had no idea where this was going.

"You fit all, but where are you from Ethan?" The Queen asked.

This was it; of course, the Queen would want to know where Ethan was from. He was from this world and couldn’t make up a fake story, but Ethan wasn’t stupid; he already knew someday this same question would pop up.

Ethan leaned back slightly, meeting the Queen’s gaze.

"I was born in a small village east in a place called Eldermere," Ethan began.

"Eldermere, I thought you came from Willow?" The Queen asked.

’Oh, she truly has done the research, that’s Zara’s village’

"I came to the capital from Willow; I wasn’t born there; you asked from in from," Ethan replied.

"Okay, continue"

"My mother was a mage, and she fought in the war when I was eight or seven. She never came back."

The Queen remained silent, listening.

"My father... I never knew him obviously. My mother’s sister took me in after she died. She wasn’t a fighter, just a simple woman who worked hard to take care of me, she had a farm. I spent most of my time helping her and learning whatever I could on my own"

"That’s when you learned swordsmanship?"

"Yes, of course once I turned eighteen I wouldn’t need to worry about anything but, my aunt died before I turned eighteen"

"I left and moved around, arriving at Willow before coming to the capital. I found out I was strong, as strong as most females, and had the potential to be a mage, so I went for it, and here I am," Ethan spoke.

He shrugged slightly. "That’s all there is to it."

He met the Queen’s eyes again, waiting for her response.

(It seems crafting a good background story was helpful after all)

’Yeah, I knew it would come up someday’

"Alright, I asked because I’ve sent people to find out about you, and another question: how many elemental attributes do you have?" The Queen asked.

"I don’t want to answer, what are you worried about?" Ethan asked.

"Nothing, I’m just asking"

"I don’t want to answer; if there’s nothing else, I’d like to leave," Ethan spoke as he looked her in the eye.

"You know there isn’t a known human who could ask as many spells as you, even ancient mages who could cast all four basic elements, I heard you had more than four, fire, wind, barrier, sensory, lightning, and darkness"

"It seems you have people watching me, should I ask why, and why would you expose that you have people watching me?"

"Do you think you can find them? I have people watching every part of the entire kingdom; why do you think the capital has been peaceful after the war?" The Queen responded.

"Do you think your grandchild would be powerful, I’m sure you want someone as strong as you or maybe even stronger?" Ethan spoke.

"That’s not why I was watching you; anybody born of Royal blood is going to be powerful; I just want to know why and how you acquired many elemental attributes?" The Queen asked.

"I guess we’ll never know," Ethan spoke, still staring at the Queen; he wasn’t afraid even for a second.

Even though the Queen was powerful, she couldn’t fight him here in her room, and even if she did he was still going to escape.

"You know another thing I love about you, the fact that you’re not afraid of me, I don’t know if I’ll ever find a male that isn’t afraid of me"

The Queen stood up still, staring at Ethan with a smile on her face, walked towards the bed, and then lay on top, still staring at Ethan.

"You know, when I came in here, I was going to do that, but then all these questions have made me a little sick; I’m going to lay down," Ethan said, standing up.

"Really, well, you’re are still in the palace, so I’m sure we’ll have plenty of time," The Queen spoke, causing Ethan to chuckle.

The Queen didn’t have a shortage of males like every other female in the capital; if she wanted, she could have another male here right now.
