Chapter 38 -36: First Encounter with the Heavenly Bead

At this moment, inside the presidential suite of the Luoyun Mountain Hotel, several high-ranking executives from Mo Corporation in Ning City had all gathered, respectfully bowing their heads, waiting for the central figure seated at the head to speak. Yet, after a long wait, that figure seemed not to have said anything and kept staring into the distance, seemingly… spacing out.

The super assistant had no choice but to step forward, bend over, and whisper into his ear, “President Mo, all the branch representatives are here.”

The man lifted his cool phoenix eyes to glance at the executives who were bowing their heads, not daring to speak. “Speak.”

One of the executives raised his head and swallowed, standing up and taking out the documents in his hand. “The company’s profits have increased by fifteen percent this month.”

“Fifteen percent?! This is the report you give me.”

The deep and charismatic voice was ostensibly light and ripple-free, yet it made all the executives present break out in a cold sweat.

“President, I guarantee we will increase it to fifty percent next time.”

The executive hurriedly promised, fearful that his immediate superior would tell him to get lost and that he then wouldn’t be able to mix in with Mo Corporation or Ning City. Working at Mo Corporation had significant benefits, such as high salaries and great welfare; however, it also had a major downside: they had a terse but strict CEO. Luckily, this was just a branch office, and they didn’t have to face him every day.

It was rumored that President Mo had suffered from depression since childhood, was not fond of speaking, but was swift and decisive in his actions, showing no mercy to his enemies and leaving a dire fate for countless people who opposed Mo’s. This made many people dare not oppose President Mo, although, of course, there were those who were not afraid to die.

There were even more rumors that President Mo’s depression was related to something that occurred in his childhood, but as to what that event was, the Mo family kept it tightly sealed with no information leaked.

The executives could not help but sigh inwardly: truly, heaven envies the gifted, for such an outstanding and handsome man to suffer from depression.

Some executives raised their heads and stole a glance at the man seated centrally, only to find that he, at some unknown point, had picked up a book and was quietly reading it, as if they did not exist.

Everyone felt their faces stiffen involuntarily.

Assistant Mo Tang had long grown accustomed to his boss’s caprices.

“Cough cough, you all go back first, it’s getting late, let’s talk about it tomorrow.”

The executives wiped the nonexistent sweat from their foreheads and quickly nodded, clustering and leaving the presidential suite.

After seeing everyone out, Mo Tang saw that his boss was still looking at the book and spoke, “President, you must be hungry too, I’ll have someone prepare your dinner.”

The man, who was the head of the Mo family, Mo Yunchen, lifted his phoenix eyes to look at Mo Tang and gave an imperceptible nod.

Mo Tang respectfully exited, gently closing the room’s door for Mo Yunchen.

With everyone gone, Mo Yunchen once again lowered his head to look at the book in his hands. The crystal chandelier shone on his impeccably handsome profile, revealing an astonishingly beautiful sight.

Qin Qin left the Different Dimension Space, stretching lazily. The little Fox had not followed her out of the space. Qin Qin touched her slightly hungry stomach, planning to go out to find food. She had eaten some Spirit Fruit in the space, but it still hadn’t given her a feeling of fullness, indicating she was really hungry.

No sooner had she stepped out of her room than she heard Xiao Fong’s voice filled with surprise.

“Master, master, there’s a familiar presence nearby.”

Qin Qin paused after closing her door and looked around. “What familiar presence?”

“The Heavenly Bead, it’s the presence of the Heavenly Bead.”

Heavenly Bead? What on earth is that?

“Ah, it’s a bit complicated to explain right now, Master. You must obtain the Heavenly Bead; it’s a real treasure. Acquiring it can bring someone back from the dead, and even allow ascension to immortality,”

Xiao Fong said excitedly. After all the Gods had perished in the great calamity, Xiao Fong was abandoned in the Different Dimension Space for tens of thousands of years until she met Qin Qin and finally saw the light of day. Now, she could actually sense the aura of the Heavenly Bead, weak though it was, but she was sure it was the Heavenly Bead’s aura.

It was known that the Heavenly Bead was an adornment around the neck of the Goddess, and it seemed to have been lost during the catastrophe that bereft the Gods of life ten thousand years ago. Xiao Fong had never expected to encounter it here but didn’t understand why the Heavenly Bead, with its immense power, emitted such a weak aura now. Could it be that after ten thousand years, it had malfunctioned? Impossible! If it had, the Heavenly Bead shouldn’t have either.

Ascend to immortality? Something even more miraculous than the Medicine Realm? She had never thought about becoming immortal, but being able to bring the dead back to life wasn’t bad either. After all, possessing that Heavenly Bead would mean having an extra life, wouldn’t it?

“Where is it?” Qin Qin hurriedly asked.

“Let me feel it out.” Xiao Fong closed her eyes in the space, while Xiao Bai squat quietly on the ground, watching her.

“Up there, above us.”

“Above us?!” Qin Qin looked up at the ceiling with a deadpan expression. Can’t you be a bit more specific, dear?

“It’s fairly close to us, should be about three or four floors up.”

Qin Qin nodded and headed straight for the elevator.

The hallway was eerily silent. Qin Qin glanced around and saw a door ajar with, surprisingly, two men standing guard outside. Her expression darkened; this would be troublesome. Who was staying here that needed guards?

Qin Qin’s eyes darted around, her lips curving into a smile. She then promptly retreated from the area.

Not long after, a woman dressed as a hotel server pushed a cart towards the outside of the presidential suite.

The two bodyguards stopped the woman, thoroughly checked the food on her cart, and then allowed her through.

The woman nodded at them and then pushed her cart into the presidential suite.

As soon as she entered the presidential suite, the woman tossed the cart aside, raised her head to take in the suite’s luxurious decor, much larger than her room by at least twice. “Heh, the things in this world are truly beautiful. Even a hotel can be this luxurious but it lacks a human touch and doesn’t seem all that great.”

After her remark, Qin Qin shifted her gaze away and asked Xiao Fong in the space, “There’s no one here, where’s the Heavenly Bead you mentioned?”

Xiao Fong directed Qin Qin towards a room on the left.

Qin Qin tiptoed over; acting as a thief, one needs to keep a low profile, right? Getting caught wouldn’t be good.

She gently opened the door and the room that spread out before her eyes was nearly fifty square meters large, with a massive bed in the center. Only a few wall lamps and a desk lamp were turned on, making the room dim.

“Eh, there’s nobody here! Xiao Fong, you’re not tricking me, are you?” Qin Qin whispered through clenched teeth.

“Not at all. How could Xiao Fong possibly deceive the Master? Head to the right, the aura of the Heavenly Bead is strong here. The Heavenly Bead is on the right side,”

Qin Qin moved to the right following Xiao Fong’s guidance, but she could never have imagined that just as she reached the right side, a tall and lean figure emerged from the bathroom door, catching Qin Qin in the act.

Four eyes met; phoenix eyes locked with beautiful ones. One pair was detached and serene, the other shocked and frantic.
