Mafia Boss To Another World-Chapter 38: Misunderstanding and the First Lesson
Choi Hyun-ah looked at Robert Jr. nervously, occasionally glancing left and right. Her hands were clenched in her lap.
"Tell me everything completely: where you’re from, and how old you are now."
Robert Jr. crossed his arms, observing Choi Hyun-ah’s every movement.
"I’m from Yeosu, Young Master. I’m twenty years old. Are you a rich man’s son, Young Master? I see the property here is very expensive."
Choi Hyun-ah looked at the Cabinet Clock in the corner as if searching for a way out.
’Did Park Eunji not tell her, I wonder? In the car, it seemed like she didn’t understand anything yet.’
"A little right, a little wrong. But you will settle with my family forever. So, whether you like it or not, you must give up your parents, your job, and even your status as a university student."
Robert Jr. crossed his legs, making himself look more dominant.
His gaze remained fixed on her.
"Do you mean, Young Master, are you proposing to me? Why can’t I visit my parents?"
Choi Hyun-ah’s cheeks flushed; she had misunderstood Robert Jr. Their eyes locked.
’Come to think of it, he’s older than me, and I don’t think his face is bad. Ugh, what am I thinking? Anyway, this kid is so annoying.’
Their gazing eyes barely blinked. Robert Jr. slightly loosened his crossed arms, and his eyebrows, which had been sharply furrowed, relaxed.
"Ahem, you’ve misunderstood. What I mean is that you will work here and stay with my family. And the family here are members of a Mafia Organization. Do you understand now?"
Robert Jr. clenched his hand, covering his cough with it, then abruptly turned his gaze to his workspace desk.
"M-Mafia? I-Isn’t that an evil organization? D-does the Young Master want to force me to marry you? P-please don’t, Young Master, I’m not ready, and besides, I’m not the child of a rich person."
Choi Hyun-ah was slightly scared, bowing her head, occasionally glancing at Robert Jr., while clutching the newly bought shirt.
’Ugh, it’s so hard to explain to this girl. Who wants to marry you, idiot! Confound it! Why did I help her that day? I thought the incident in the alley involved Park Eunji, but it was wrong, and I ended up meeting a strange woman. Why didn’t I just leave her so she would be raped until she was traumatized!’
"Haah! Never mind. It seems it’s going to be hard to explain to you. I also still have work to do."
Robert Jr. let out a small sigh, stood up from the long chair, walked toward his desk, and sat there reading documents and recent news articles.
Choi Hyun-ah, who looked confused and watched him walk and sit in the chair, smiled faintly, the corner of her lips turning up.
’Young Master, you look handsome and very young. I’m attracted to you. When you were getting angry earlier, you looked cute and adorable. Actually, I didn’t tell you about my parents: that I fought with them and ran away to this city looking for work and university. I’m sorry if I lied to you.’
In Choi Hyun-ah’s eyes, Robert Jr.’s cold aura was merely a mask.
The young man exuded a firm charisma.
His hard jawline and constantly furrowed eyebrows felt very appealing, like a fictional hero who hides kindness behind his anger.
She didn’t understand why Robert ordered her to stay, but the rough treatment occasionally punctuated by care had sown a seed in her heart.
Clearly, she had fallen for the Tsundere side of this Mafia Young Master.
"Oh, right. I will ask Park Eunji to fetch you here. Work diligently, don’t worry about the salary."
Robert Jr.’s voice seemed lazy when speaking to her.
He rested his head on his left hand while reading the documents on his desk without looking at Choi Hyun-ah again.
"Okay, Young Master. No, my future Husband, Hehe."
Choi Hyun-ah was a little flirty, teasing him.
Her voice was soft, her right eye closed, and she tilted her body toward Robert Jr. while holding her flushed cheeks.
Robert Jr., hearing it, was slightly disgusted.
A faint vein appeared on his temple.
He gave a low growl, ignored her again, and continued reading important articles about his business.
The door opened.
S No. II entered, closed the door, then saluted Robert Jr.
"Good afternoon, Young Master. How is your work? And, it seems you are having a little difficulty."
S No. II walked and sat on the long chair in front of Choi Hyun-ah.
His gaze was fixed on Robert Jr.
Choi Hyun-ah watched S No. II walk into the room until he sat down in front of her and took off his mask, placing it on the table.
’This old man looks like the fictional character Sebastian; his charisma is no joke. Come to think of it, since I first arrived here, I haven’t seen a single person who looks bad. Everyone is handsome and beautiful. Uh... a-am I dreaming and entering a romance novel world?’
Choi Hyun-ah pressed both hands on her lap.
As she looked down, her braless chest, still wearing the black T-shirt, looked prominent.
Her mind was swimming deep in thought until a red flush appeared at the tips of her ears.
"Greetings, Uncle. Oh... not really, the work you gave me is perfectly safe. You’ll understand why I’m like this yourself."
Robert Jr. answered without turning toward S No. II. He kept flipping through the papers, looking lazy and listless.
S No. II shifted his gaze, glancing and staring at Choi Hyun-ah casually, observing her in detail.
’So this girl is the source of the problem. But why isn’t she wearing underwear? That is very indecent. Come to think of it, she hasn’t changed her clothes since I first saw her until now.’
"Little girl, are you ready to work? I’m going to take you to the back to introduce you to your co-workers."
Choi Hyun-ah looked at S No. II, her expression completely changing, returning to that of a lost lamb.
Her voice sounded soft and almost a whisper.
"But... Uncle, is the training very strict?"
"Hmm... That depends on you. In that case, come follow me."
S No. II rose from the long chair with graceful and measured movements, not a single wrinkle showing on his uniform.
He took the mask from the table, put it back on his face, covering all expression, with a single quick and skillful motion.
After the mask was perfectly in place, he looked at Robert Jr.
"Young Master, I will take my leave. I will bring her, and I hope the Young Master’s mood returns to normal. Good afternoon."
S No. II bowed formally from the waist. The respectfulness of the salute was a contrast to his casual greeting.
Then, he turned around, stepping calmly and unhurriedly toward the door.
Choi Hyun-ah, who was waiting behind him, hurried to follow him to the threshold of the room.
Just before stepping out, she stopped abruptly.
Her head turned quickly back, searching for Robert Jr., who was still focused on his documents.
Robert Jr.’s eyes, as if noticing movement, glanced toward them as they were leaving.
Their eyes met.
As their gazes touched, Choi Hyun-ah smiled naughtily, winking her right eye flirtatiously and coquettishly.
It was a deliberate provocation she sent.
Robert Jr. took a deep breath, the vein in his neck faintly tightening.
He let out a low growl, like a disturbed animal, but immediately ignored her.
His gaze returned to the stack of papers again, his hands flipping through the documents as if Choi Hyun-ah had never been there.
Time passed. Robert Jr., who was writing about his business routes, stopped, then placed the pen in the small glass cup filled with ink.
Then, he looked at the wristwatch on his left hand, marking five o’clock and two minutes in the afternoon.
’I thought Park Eunji would take her, but it’s okay. My work is finished. Dinner will be soon. Oh right, I haven’t trained yet. I’ll go to that room again after eating.’
Robert Jr. got out of his chair, stretched his body, and groaned softly.
Then, he walked toward the long chair and leaned back relaxed, waiting for food to arrive.
After dinner arrived, Robert Jr. walked toward his private room to retrieve an item, then headed to the basement room.
He opened the door, closed it again, then locked it from the inside.
He put down the small bag inside which was the spellbook he read yesterday.
Then, he removed the pendant hanging from his neck, and also took off his shirt.
He sat on the floor, crossed his legs, closed his eyes, regulated his breathing, while feeling the mana particles in the earth, which seemed thin.
The particles were colorless.
It just felt somewhat calm when felt deeper.
When it touched and entered the body, it felt cool.
Robert Jr. focused on gathering the particles until they reached his mana container in the center of his chest, sensing the absorption process.
After that, he opened his eyes again.
’Only this much. The mana on earth is very thin, one might say scarce. My training is progressing very slowly because of this. However, the preparation for the ritual is already there. Since this pendant is the mana container given to me, and I want to perform a separate ritual, I will continuously gather mana so I don’t run out when activating a spell. That would be risky for me, unlike that magic circle.’
Robert Jr. held his pendant.
His gaze was directed at the magic circle he had made before.
