Mage Legend-Chapter 394: Travel and Travel Beyond Travel - Nine Incoming Dragon_2
Lynch naturally didn’t believe in the Druids’ explanations. In fact, anyone with faith can interpret this sweltering heat in a way that aligns with their beliefs, and they can all find a narrative that best serves their faith. Other "heresies" could be responsible for this unpleasant matter, while they themselves are the only solution to the predicament.
As a Mage, Lynch only believed in himself and what he could achieve. He used only his own eyes and brain to think, never allowing others to dictate his actions. Mages neither placed their hopes in deities nor believed that the power of faith could save everything. They simply believed that hints of what was to come could be found in past events.
"Druids, weren’t you all inquiring about the giant dragon?" Lynch was unwilling to discuss the topic of natural faith with these Druids, so he said, "Now is a good time."
"I just want to know, how do you Mages control the giant dragons? What are their weaknesses?" Eagle Head looked at Lynch and asked.
Hearing this question, Lynch frowned deeply. If he had been somewhat suspicious of these Druids at first, his doubts now intensified. Generally speaking, Druids lived frugally in jungles or mountains, never possessing those rare gemstones or precious metals, barely even crafting powerful magic tools. Unless they invaded a dragon’s territory, giant dragons wouldn’t usually trouble these natural allies, nor would they think of robbing their collections. The three before him had decent shapeshifting abilities, likely experienced Druids, who couldn’t possibly be ignorant of such basic knowledge.
The most suspicious point was that they immediately asked about the greatest secret of the Mages. The matter of forming pacts with dragons was an innovation of the ancient Great Arcanists. This extremely confidential document was still kept in a heavily guarded tower by the Mage Association. Even after a millennium, with the number of Mages greatly reduced, no power dared to underestimate the Mage Association, greatly related to the "Giant Dragon Agreement." All Priests or Druids with faith knew this was the Mages’ greatest secret. Asking about this right off the bat couldn’t help but arouse suspicion.
Lynch looked at Eagle Head, thinking he didn’t seem like an idiot. But why would he ask such a foolish question? Was he covering something up or pretending? The Mage pondered and said, "I’ve always been curious, how did you Druids get involved with the giant dragons?"
"This matter is quite complicated," Eagle Head’s expression seemed like a sigh of relief. Lynch felt he seemed eager to shift the topic. The Mage thought that the intention of "quickly resolving" the giant dragon’s trouble concealed many mysteries.
"We were just living quietly in the mountains, peacefully blending with nature," Ida said slowly, "But one day..."
As he said this, it was as if he was struck heavily in the chest, bending over in pain. He said shakily, "I felt it. Dragon! An evil dragon!"
Lynch frowned, watching the Druid’s theatrical performance. With the Eye of Insight’s X-ray vision, the Mage could easily discern the Druid’s physical state. Not to mention his chest being attacked, not a single trace of injury was found on Ida Eagle Head’s body.
"Since the evil dragon has arrived, I’d advise you to flee quickly," Lynch was lazy to waste words on these people, smiling as he said, "I don’t have the ability to protect you from this so-called giant dragon’s harm."
"I’m not lying to you!" Eagle Head shouted. At this moment, his two brothers quickly transformed into eagles and soared into the sky.
Lynch’s gaze followed the two departing Druids upward, only then noticing an unusual small black dot rapidly approaching the ship in the bright sunlight. He focused his vision, carefully observing the object.
"Uncle, no matter what happens, don’t come out!" Lynch shouted toward the cabin, then looked at Eagle Head, who was seated beside him, "Speak! How did you provoke the giant dragon, causing it to track you here?"
"We... didn’t..." Eagle Head gasped, trying to speak, but always seemed incapable.
