Mage Manual-Chapter 1449 - 1056: Smoke
Felix stepped onto the clean, non-slip tiles as she emerged from the bath, pulled open the glass door, returned to the dry area, dried her body with a long plush towel, raised her leg to put on pure cotton half-covered triangle shorts, and then directly threw on a loose white shirt whose hem was long enough to cover the shorts.
First, she used the Holy Domain to filter out the obvious water droplets from her long hair, then blew her hair with a hairdryer for a few seconds, and it was almost dry. Sitting in front of the dressing table, she put on a red butterfly headband to keep her bangs from hanging down, and spent a while applying body lotion and a full set of skincare — she wasn’t a demigod soul body, she still needed to take care of her body carefully.
After leaving the bathroom, Felix went to the kitchen first, opened the fridge, and saw coffee milk, then took it out to drink. When she came to the living room, she found Dedarose, the Witch, Silver Lamp, and Vishi all gathered here — except for Ash and Sword Maiden, everyone else was present.
She had a vague sense that something had happened and chose to sit next to the maid Vishi.
Diya, dressed in bear-themed pajamas with a bear hood, looked anxiously at Silver Lamp: "How is it, is the data abnormal?"
"No."
Weiser shook her head, the silver light in her eyes gradually subsiding, "Although her emotional fluctuation today was greater than in the past few days, it was still within a reasonable range and didn’t exceed the normal limits."
"The soul hasn’t changed either." Vishi propped up her chin, even post-bath she was still dressed as a maid, "Unless she can hide from my gaze and Soul Lock, her soul hasn’t been affected by any external influence and hasn’t undergone any spontaneous abnormality."
"But Sword Maiden was absolutely not normal today!" Diya summoned the Gospel Book and quickly checked all of Sonia’s actions since her return: "She almost hit you... although you did deserve it... but it’s the first time I’ve seen her almost lose control of her emotions!"
Facing the Witch Silver Lamp, Sword Maiden choosing to tolerate and even forgive is understandable, given their camaraderie from Shared Life and Shared Death. But Vishi and Sword Maiden only had known each other for a week, Sword Maiden had no reason to be considerate toward Vishi, much less suppress her dissatisfaction with Vishi.
However, Sword Maiden couldn’t control her anger, which is not normal!
As partners who have fought side by side, both the Witch and Silver Lamp know clearly that Sword Maiden is an emotionally rich type, able to easily feel joy and sadness, never being a boring person. Yet, the higher her emotions rise, the calmer her mind becomes, and the clearer her thoughts get, which is why her battle prowess stands out among the operators and she’s practically born for the battlefield genius!
Though the Witch is emotionally rich, she finds it hard to control herself, her hair color changing to dirty if she slips up;
Silver Lamp is always the emotionally detached type, even when seeing Ash again in the Allstars cage, she can force herself to focus first on the situation;
As for Vishi, in combat below the Divine Lord Realm level she might still be a step ahead of Sword Maiden, but once they reach that Realm, even the Ghost Prophet’s thousand-year accumulation of combat experience must yield to Sword Maiden’s combat genius.
Emotion has never been an obstacle for Sword Maiden, rather it is her ladder to progress.
So when Diya and Weiser heard that Sword Maiden nearly slapped Vishi, they felt a pity and also realized the seriousness of the matter.
It’s not that one can’t hit people, they blew off steam in a chaotic group battle dreamscape before, but this kind of nearly sneak attack for venting is meaningless and can’t possibly scare Vishi away, instead, it might invite Ash’s displeasure, Sword Maiden has no reason not to know this point.
Of course, Sword Maiden wants to win, but what she seeks is perfect victory, overwhelming others, turning the Witch into cannon fodder, gaining Ash’s complete favor.
As for excluding all options with violence, forcing Ash to choose only her... Sonia might have had such thoughts, but she knows she can’t do it, also she shouldn’t.
Even if she really wants to fight, she should properly declare war on Vishi, defeat Vishi so much as to make her retreat in self-abasement, and not resort to this kind of venting sneak attack, besides a fleeting satisfaction, Sword Maiden wouldn’t gain any benefit, could even blow up Ash’s negative mood due to internal strife and affect their relationship... like a child crying to eat cake but ends up with nothing because they flipped the tablecloth over.
Felix hearing this also guessed what happened, glancing at Vishi to confirm there were no injuries, then calmed down, muttering softly, "Shouldn’t the one to hit be Ash..."
Everyone instantly looked at her, Vishi casually swatted her on the butt, lazily saying, "Don’t speak the truth that affects group cohesion."
Felix realized she misspoke and lowered her head, Weiser glared unhappily at Vishi. They certainly didn’t think Ash was wrong; if Ash was wrong, wouldn’t their affection also be mistaken?
However, any hint of Ash and Vishi was wrong, so in this they side with Sword Maiden.
"So this is what is meant by ’character shift’?" Dedarose suddenly asked, "Has the Sword Seat started to shift towards Death Mad, leading to character changes?"
The Witch trio exchanged glances, all shaking their heads. Initially, they too thought this was the case, but through data analysis, Sonia’s actions still fit her character profile, which means...
Their expressions differed, Vishi’s brows furrowing, the Witch seemingly sad yet slightly relieved, most notably Silver Lamp — she could hardly hide the trace of cruel smile at the corners of her mouth.
