Magus Supremacy-Chapter 793: Piecing Things Together
Chapter 793
BOOOM—!
Every spectator had to shut their ears in an instant at the loud sound that had suddenly split the air.
Their eyes widened as the glow grew bright and with it, it was like a bomb was set off.
The explosion burnt through the arena tearing through the ground like it was just a mere parchment and also with it, the beasts who were stupefied to their core.
An incredible shockwave blasted out in all directions almost hitting the spectators.
But the moment the shockwave neared, a translucent barrier that was invisible at first suddenly lit up with a dim glow protecting them all.
So they all watched without any harm to them as the shockwaves dissipated.
Even Rivock suffered the aftermath and was almost sent flying if it wasn’t for the fact that he flipped a few times lessening the impact before landing smoothly on his knees.
...
A few seconds passed in tense silence as the dust from the explosion settled down revealing the aftermath of Rivock’s attack.
The ground was burnt and torn like it was nothing; the beasts’ bodies were nowhere to be seen.
This time, they didn’t disappear. Instead: it seemed as if they were deleted from the arena.
Even their corpse or bone was nowhere to be seen. Their blood also got destroyed along with the arena’s ground.
In short, Rivock had actually cleared all the ten Divine ranked beasts like it was nothing.
The culprit himself was just staring ahead with a slide dribble of blood on his lips. Nothing too serious as he stared at his hands.
’Even as I have grown stronger, it still took half of my total Ki pool to cast that... our Clan’s technique is truly formidable and powerful. The stronger one is and the bigger the blast you want, the higher the cost one has to pay.’
He sighed tiredly as he finally steeled himself and staggered to his feet just a bit to stare at the eerily silent arena.
Every single soul were silent as all eyes were on him.
He could see stares of awe, fear, curiousity, revere and something more... he didn’t know what that was yet.
"Well, I cleared the supposed ’massively dangerous’ wave of yours. Let’s see the new score of the Aetherian academy now." Rivock smirked as he stared straight at the North booth.
"...."
It took a few more moments for the words to register in their heads as the announcer finally stuttered awake.
"Uh...yeah... uhm.... Sure." He kept stuttering due to disbelief and the absurdity of the situation he had just spectated.
Soon enough, the scoreboard in the air changed numbers and now, Aetherian academy had fourteen points still putting them at number one.
Grey’s smile knew no bounds as he stared at this.
’Ha... now; even if the other academies miraculously cleared all five waves, they still won’t be able to reach the Aetherian academy’s spot. But that could change depending on what the second segment is.’
Seeing as the score was now changed, Rivock turned around and began walking back towards the East booth with casual, slow steps as if the whole scene he had just created was merely nothing.
Because the next second, murmurs filled the spectator stands as every stared at his back in disbelief.
Rivock didn’t care as he finally vanished into the East booth leaving everybody to discuss.
In the East booth, Rivock stared at the three leaders.
’Shit. I’m still fighting just to stand in front of them? What will happen if I have to actually fight them?’
Rowen just smiled creepily as he watched Rivock stare at them all for a moment.
He didn’t even say anything and just gave his son a nod of acknowledgement which Rivock unsurprisingly didn’t return back.
His eyes turned to glance at his brother— Drevor who stood behind their father and was massively scowling at him without shame.
"You just had to disgrace us out there eh? You had the strength to finish the fight immediately yet you chose to delay? Why?"
Rivock stared at Drevor for a moment before scoffing and turning away.
"None of your business."
He began walking away indifferently and this irrked Drevor instantly as a vein began showing at the side of his head.
Hands clenched tightly with Ki flooding his limbs in waves. A dominating pressure from him immediately flooded outwardly.
However, Rivock didn’t stop walking as he strode nonchalantly towards his friends.
Seeing this, Rowen didn’t even turn around and just uttered:
"Stop that."
In a second, the pressure from Drevor receeded as if it wasn’t there for a moment.
The other leaders didn’t even bother to interfere in the family dispute as they all had bored looks on their faces.
Fenrir could be seen standing behind Orion. His eyes fixed on the man’s head.
Infact, he hadn’t been concentrating on the fights since he got here. He was just staring at Orion while actually managing to mask his killing intent.
’Just a little while more, Orion.’
Meanwhile, Orion himself was replaying the scene in his head a few times.
’... Drevor is right. Why didn’t Rivock end the fight instantly? I was there when he fought against... against that mage. He went all out instantly and that’s the type of people the Iron Fur clan are. So why today? It was as if... as if he was fighting cautiously trying to preserve his strength for some reason.’
Calmly, the man began stroking his long beard as his sunken eyes gleamed slightly while staring straight ahead.
’First; it seemed like the others had pushed themselves to the absolute limit. Mada is my son, yet aside from trying to show Gunther that he is also strong, he never showed any other motivation. Infact, he is quite relaxed about matters pertaining to the clan.
So something like the tournament shouldn’t bother him. Yet it seemed like he used the whole two months to make sure he reached his limits, evolve and become a stage five warrior? It can’t be for just the tournament. Something....’
Orion paused for a second as he felt something in the air.
Without turning his head, his eyes actually managed to catch the shift in the air.
He could see it.
Instructor Sera was somewhat nervous? He could subtly seeing her tightening her fist for a moment before Gunther had to lightly hit her with his elbow getting her to calm back down.
This kind of nervousness couldn’t be from the fact that she stood around the leaders, right?
Because the leaders weren’t even unleashing any aura that could scare her talk more of making her nervous.
Also, this wasn’t the first time she was standing around them. She had actually sat down beside them all on the day of the Aetherian academy tournament.
So what happened?
Without any change in his expression, his eyes scanned the whole booth calmly.
He spotted Rowen and Selene conversing about matters that didn’t concern him.
Leo was unmoved by the whole tournament of a thing. Infact, he hadn’t commented on a thing throughout the whole fights.
Very unlike him.
The students were all spaced out a few metres away from the leaders.
They sat down cultivating their ki and trying to regain their energy back.
Which they shouldn’t be doing especially since the other academies still had their waves to go.
There was still plenty of time to the second segment so they shouldn’t be doing this now since their Dantian will naturally restore itself before the second segment if they weren’t using ki that is.
So why...
Also; why had Fenz come back today of all days? Throughout the years of the inter-faction tournament, he had never shown his face.
Heck... he wasn’t even usually around at all so why today of all days? Why is he here?
’Oh?! I see.’ Orion uttered inwardly as a soft smile appeared on his face.
He felt like chuckling at his earlier blindness but decided against it and just turned his attention back to what was about to happen.
’... This will be interesting.’
