Magus Supremacy-Chapter 802: This Doesn’t Scare Me!
Chapter 802
"Oh! So this is a planned rebellion eh?" Rowen couldn’t help but chuckle as he placed his huge palm over his face.
His shoulders rose and fell in a controlled rhythm.
".... Rivock; you have actually disappointed me, to be honest. I had big plans for you; I wanted you to take over the clan and, in turn, become strong enough to take over the Aetherian faction whenever Orion steps down. But you just had to do this, huh?"
Hearing his father’s words, Drevor cast him a glance for a moment before shaking his head.
Why was he surprised? It wasn’t as if his father’s intentions had ever been a secret.
Rowen always laid it bare because he genuinely believed Rivock was a once-in-a-lifetime genius.
At the age of eighteen, Rivock was already a high stage six warrior and had even managed to learn the clan’s dangerous technique to near perfection.
Drevor— even though he was the eldest— was also considered a once-in-a-lifetime genius after reaching stage six at nineteen years of age.
Now twenty-five and a stage seven warrior.
But Rivock had reached stage six at just seventeen and had been stuck there for a year now. Still, despite that, he remained a monster.
He had shattered Drevor’s record.
And Rowen, in turn, believed that at the rate the boy was going, he would become strong enough to best any of the direct descendants and then secure the throne of the Aetherian faction.
But now...
A small smirk flashed across Drevor’s face as he turned to stare at Rivock, who was already back on his feet alongside the others.
.... Now that Rivock had gone and done this, if Drevor could eliminate him right here and right now, he would become the future heir of the clan and, in turn, the faction.
This was an opportunity.
A golden one.
And Drevor was more than ready to capitalize on it, whether Rivock was his younger brother or not.
Selene fixed her gaze on Noelle— her daughter— while searching deep within her eyes for something she couldn’t quite name.
"Noelle... are you sure about this? Do you really want to be on that side?"
Noelle returned the stare with a fierce glare, her teeth gnashing angrily.
"Why? Why the sudden care? Why the fuck are you acting like my mum now, huh? For the longest time, you kept pressuring me. You never bothered about what I wanted to do; it was always about your wishes."
Her voice trembled slightly, but she didn’t stop.
"I know that as your only child, you had so many expectations for me. But— but it was too much, damn it! So stop acting like you give a fuck!"
.....
A deep silence settled over the coliseum.
For a brief moment, Selene’s gaze softened as she stared at her daughter.
But then it hardened.
She turned her glare toward Leo before shifting it back to Noelle.
"Fine then. If that’s what you want, you’ll get it. I can always get a new daughter and a new vice leader. But betrayal?"
Her eyes turned cold.
"I can never forgive that."
Tak. Tak. Tak.
Grey took a few steps forward, positioning himself two metres ahead of his allies.
And that was when—
FWIIIIISH—!
Someone appeared atop Noir, one knee planted firmly on the familiar’s back.
It was Pink— Thalos in disguise as a human.
Throughout the entire clash in the booth, he hadn’t interfered even once, choosing instead to observe everything from the sidelines.
"Grey... Grey... Grey." Orion uttered the name slowly while shaking his head.
"For the longest time, you’ve avoided death. You’ve always been an annoyingly massive bolt in the wheels of our plans. No matter what the Otherworlders attempt, you always find a way to ruin it.
Today, that comes to an end. And for turning my children against—"
"Children?" Mada repeated with a raised brow.
His teeth ground back and forth repeatedly as he took angry steps forward, eyes slanted with fury.
"You dare call us your children?" Mada asked as he finally stopped stomping.
"... Do you know how much I hate Grey?! I hate him with every fiber of my being to the point that if I ever get the chance, I will actually take his life."
Hearing that, the Supreme Magus cast a sideways glance before shaking his head.
’Yeah. As if you could.’
"But this same Grey was the one who saved your ’children’ on the day literal demons attacked. We were all close to losing our lives when he threw away all caution and placed himself directly in front of the demon, battling for all of us till he was on the verge of death."
Mada paused for a second, his eyes welling up with tears.
Sucking in a sharp breath, he bellowed.
"Where the fuck were you then?! Where the hell did you ’concerned’ parents go when we were in danger, huh?! Did you actually care?! NO! You were more concerned about your territory than our lives, so what gives you the guts to think we will continue pledging our loyalty to you?!"
"....."
Rowen tilted his head and turned to stare at Rivock.
"Is that the same reason for you too?"
The lad shrugged nonchalantly.
"I just decided to join his side because I thought it would be fun—and because it’s the winning side."
’As expected of my blood. What a lunatic.’
Orion exhaled and then cocked his shoulders indifferently.
"Fine then. If it’s death you want, you shall get it."
Suddenly, the entire coliseum— spanning several kilometres— was swallowed by thick, dark clouds.
As heads tilted upward, thousands of swords could be seen hanging in the air.
The spectators gulped loudly as the energy brimming from the blades pressed down on them.
— Wait. These aren’t ordinary swords.
— Th-They are KI swords?!
That was right.
Every single sword in the sky was made of ki.
Orion’s Ki.
Thousands of them, enough to blanket every inch of the coliseum.
Leader Ken, noticing this, grabbed the transmission crystal in rage.
"ORION! What the hell is this?! Do you want to kill every single person in this coliseum?!"
Orion didn’t reply.
He simply kept his gaze locked onto Grey, who didn’t even flinch despite the overwhelming sea of ki swords overhead.
"Know this. Their deaths aren’t on my hands."
"Ah... seems like you don’t know who you’re messing with, eh?" Grey exhaled deeply,
then—
Flap—! Flap—! Flap—!
His robe fluttered violently as a powerful gust of wind swept him off his feet, lifting him higher and higher into the air.
His hair whipped wildly as he spread his hands apart, staring down at the world below.
"I’m the Supreme Magus. The Supreme Mage of Arondale. And you think this can scare me? Nobody is dying here today. That’s my promise."
Snap—!
A blinding flash of white erupted, searing into the eyes of every spectator.
Cries rang out as they instinctively shut their eyelids tight, overwhelmed by the sudden brilliance that burst forth beneath their feet.
