Magus Supremacy-Chapter 816: Getting Serious?
Chapter 816
Drevor could be seen standing still for a moment, his eyes fixed on his brother who was on the ground laying in his own pool of blood.
His back was turned to the carnage.
Drevor just kept staring with a conflicted look on his face, as he didn’t quite know how to feel after killing Rivock.
The weight of the act seemed to hang in the air, thick and suffocating.
"Well, he had it coming," he muttered with a cold scoff, trying to dismiss the lingering guilt.
Turning away, he began searching for who would be his next target when his eyes landed on Grey, still meditating to replenish his mana.
"Bing— huh?" He muttered confusedly as he slowly turned his head after feeling a sudden, sharp spike in someone’s aura.
Spinning around, he could see Rivock’s body twitching uncontrollably for a few seconds before it grew eerily still again.
Seconds passed in tense silence as Drevor stared at the corpse grimly, his brow furrowed in suspicion.
"You just don’t want to die easily, eh?" He growled slightly as his hands were clutched tightly in restrained fury, his knuckles turning white from the pressure.
Then in a flash, Drevor dashed forward with fury contorting his handsome face into a mask of rage.
Every heavy step resounded loudly like that of a rhythmic beating drum against the stone floor.
Within a second, he was towering over Rivock’s broken body.
Without any hesitation, he hurled his hand down, sending a long Ki sword crashing towards his brother’s head.
Rivock remained unmoving for a few seconds as the huge Ki sword was streaking towards his skull at blazing speed.
For a moment, Drevor doubted himself, wondering if the boy was actually still alive or not.
If he was truly breathing, he should have moved away already after sensing the lethal attack.
Yet, he remained motionless as the strike approached by the second and then,
TCHAKKK—!
The sword sliced through Rivock’s head like a sharp knife cutting through soft butter.
The world froze for a moment as the blade kept going until it struck the ground, tearing the earth open with dust billowing into the air.
Drevor smirked widely at this gruesome scene.
With this, he could finally be certain that Rivock was dead and gone forever.
Even if he managed to survive the deep cut to his gut, there’s no way he would be able to survive a clean slice through the head.
No one can endure such a fatal wound.
And unless his eyes were playing tricks on him, Drevor saw the sword slicing through Rivock’s head before splitting the ground apart.
....
Several seconds passed in tense silence as Drevor kept staring at the ground, waiting for the dust to settle when,
"Ah... I should have known you wouldn’t play fair. Or did I know?"
A sudden chill coursed through Drevor’s spine at the words he just heard... no. More like the familiar voice he just heard.
Spinning around with his heart pounding loudly against his chest, Rivock could be seen.
Standing and even worse... alive?
"What the hell?!"
****
Throughout his twenty-something years of living, Drevor had never seen nor heard about ghosts before. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Even if they were real, there was no way he would believe in such superstitions.
But standing in front of him... barely three meters away, was Rivock.
Aside from the deep gash on his abdomen which was rapidly being sealed by the use of concentrated Ki, he looked perfectly okay.
There was no injury on his head where Drevor had supposedly struck a moment ago.
"What the hell?!" He shouted, his voice echoing through the coliseum.
Turning around hastily, Drevor’s eyes widened in sheer horror.
Because the supposed Rivock he had struck a moment ago was slowly shattering into nothingness.
It looked like a jagged crack in reality had suddenly appeared as his younger brother dissolved into mere fragments, leaving only the furrowed trench where the Ki sword had ploughed into the dirt.
"How is this possible?" He muttered with a confused expression on his face, his mind racing to find an explanation for the illusion.
"Thanks, Wolfy!" Rivock was heard shouting, causing Drevor to spin around only to see the giant red wolf nodding subtly in Rivock’s direction.
’Oh! An illusion?’
The realization hit Drevor like a physical blow. It hadn’t been a ghost or a miracle, but a well-timed deception.
"Now," Rivock uttered as he shifted into a firm, deadly stance.
The playful grin that had been plastered on his face from the start of the fight until now was gone totally.
In its place was a mask of cold, focused determination.
The jagged injury on his abdomen was already sealed, thanks to his high mastery in the ancient arts of Ki.
What had truly transpired a while ago was this: after being struck away with that grievous wound in his midsection, Rivock wasn’t fully dead, though he was certainly standing at death’s door.
He had been desperately trying to knit his flesh back together while slowly losing consciousness from the blood loss.
He could feel his brother standing still nearby; hence, he remained unmoving while focusing every ounce of his remaining strength on the injury.
He knew he had almost no time left and would likely get finished off by Drevor in no time if he didn’t act.
But then, a mysterious voice was heard in his head, piercing through his internal Ki barrier with ease.
"Listen up. There’s a small window of opportunity. Don’t move. Just wait for my signal and then you must call upon all the speed you have left to move from where you are while masking your aura."
The voice didn’t sound human at all, which made Rivock confused for a brief second until his eyes lit up with recognition.
’Grey’s wolf?’
At that exact moment, Drevor had just turned around, his attention diverted as he searched for his next opponent.
"Now!"
With the speed of lightning, Rivock bolted away from where he laid, his hand tightly clamped around his abdomen to keep his vitals from spilling.
At the same time, Noir swiftly manifested an intricate illusion of Rivock in that exact same position.
By doing this, a sudden surge of energy spiked up, successfully drawing Drevor’s attention.
He had seen the "body" twitch, which made him decide to totally finish his brother off once and for all.
All of those calculated moves led to the current event, with Rivock shifting into an instant battle stance.
His eyes were slanted like a predator that had finally sighted its prey.
His aura washed out in powerful waves as Ki flowed through his veins, coursing all around his body and augmenting his different limbs to their absolute limit.
"... It’s time to get serious."
’Get seri—’
Drevor hadn’t even finished his thought when Rivock exploded from his position with forceful speed, dashing towards his brother like a launched projectile.
The sudden turn of events had taken Drevor completely off guard, especially hearing Rivock’s ominous declaration.
’Get serious.’
Drevor knew what that meant, and so did the rest of the Iron Fur clan.
Rivock rarely got serious and would always jokingly take down his opponents with ease.
But whenever he truly committed to the kill, this was the result.
BANG—!
"Go to hell!" Rivock bellowed towards Drevor, his voice booming across the arena.
Vaulting high into the air, his hands glowed with fierce intensity as he called upon a hundred Ki swords.
They swirled around him, each one glowing with raw, unrestrained power as they prepared to rain down upon his brother.
