Chapter 369: Striking to Kill

After Selina left, Angelica’s eyes darted with calculation.

She didn’t come here to actually talk—she came to leave behind proof: that she and Selina had met.

Angelica turned to the bodyguard, her tone sharp. "What are you standing there for? Hurry up!"

The bodyguard hesitated. "Miss Angelica..."

"I said do it! Why so much nonsense?!"

The bodyguard inhaled deeply, then stepped forward and grabbed Angelica’s wrist—twisting it hard.

"Ahhh!" Angelica screamed.

Her left hand hung limp, completely useless. Tears welled up—God, it hurt. It hurt so bad. But she had to do this. Selina had to be taken out. It was the only way.

Gritting her teeth through the pain, Angelica called Joe. "Dad... help me..."

Ten minutes later, Joe arrived at the scene, panicked at the sight of Angelica sobbing uncontrollably.

"Angelica, what happened to your hand?"

"Hospital... Dad, take me to the hospital..."

The car sped toward the nearest ER. Joe’s face was stormy, his voice low and furious.

"Angelica, tell me what happened. Who did this to you?"

Angelica gave a faint smile.

So what if Victoria left Selina a fortune and a noble identity?

Even now, Selina’s biological father was still only doting on her—Angelica.

Playing up her weakness, Angelica said softly, "Dad, don’t blame Selina... I owed her this..."

"Selina?!" That name again.

"She said she wanted to talk alone, so I dismissed the bodyguards. I didn’t expect... sob... she said everything was my fault, said I’m shameless... said I deserved this..."

"That little bitch!" Joe growled, rage cl1ouding his judgment. He didn’t even stop to question the inconsistencies.

"I’ll bring her here to apologize to you!"

"No, Dad..." Angelica choked on her tears. "Selina has Logan protecting her. Even if you go, what can you do..."

"Then I’ll go straight to the Reid Family!"

Joe was livid. "They’ve gone too far. I’ll get you justice. Logan and Selina are out of line!"

Angelica smiled smugly.

...

Joe barged into the Reid estate.

Grandpa Reid was stunned. "Joe? What on earth—?"

"Mr. Reid, our families have ties. Selina is your granddaughter-in-law. Can you not get her under control?"

Grandpa Reid frowned. "Joe, calm down. I don’t even recognize Selina’s status—"

"You don’t, but Logan does! I admit Angelica was wrong to fake her pregnancy, but Selina already punished her. What more do you want?"

"Now Angelica’s got a fractured wrist because of her. Reid Family needs to give us an explanation!"

After Joe stormed off, Grandpa Reid angrily smashed a vase.

"Selina—again?!"

The butler rushed over. "Sir, what are your orders?"

"That girl’s ruined too many of our plans. We can’t let her keep doing this. And the Morris Family isn’t someone we can afford to offend. If we have to sacrifice Selina, so be it. She’s not worth much."

"Send someone to grab her. Break her hand, too."

"But sir, what if Young Master Logan finds out..."

"Let him! You think he’s really going to go against his own grandfather over some woman?"

...

Selina walked away, still full of suspicion. What exactly was Angelica up to? She’d just seen Joe...

Hmm? What’s that smell?

A strange scent suddenly hit Selina’s nose, and she instantly became alert.

She’d unknowingly wandered onto a small path!

The scent grew stronger. A jolt ran through Selina’s brain—

Something’s wrong. This is a setup! Someone’s lying in wait!

The moment she realized it, Selina turned to run—but the fragrance she’d inhaled took effect too fast. Her whole body went weak, and her legs buckled.

"Grab her! Trying to run, are you?"

"The old man said whoever catches her gets a 100,000 yuan reward. Move it!"

Selina’s mind raced. Old man? Which old man wanted her captured? Grandpa Reid? But even if he did want her gone, he wouldn’t be this rushed—

Bam—!

Her mind grew foggy, heavy waves of sleepiness washing over her.

Crap... These people came prepared. She wasn’t getting away. But she had to leave Logan a clue—

Selina struggled to pull out her phone—

"You think you’re making a call, bitch?"

"Ugh!"

A burst of pain shot through her wrist as one of the bodyguards stomped on her hand.

It hurt. A lot.

Gritting her teeth, Selina waited for her chance—then swung her left leg hard, hooking it behind the guard’s knees. Caught off guard, the man crashed to the ground with a loud thud.

Selina lunged for her phone.

But there were too many of them. Before she could dial, someone struck her hard on the back of the neck.

The moment she lost consciousness, her phone lit up.

Logan was calling her. The call rang and rang, but no one picked up.

Annoyed by the ringing, one of the guards smashed the phone with a punch and tossed it into the nearby bushes.

...

Logan called Selina’s phone. No answer.

A strong sense of dread washed over him. His heart raced.

He called again—this time, the phone was powered off.

Something’s wrong. Where is she?!

"Sir," Jaxon reported, "we’ve locked down all the surveillance along Mrs. Reid’s route. Her last known location was a small path near City A University. Then—she vanished. It must’ve been an ambush."

Logan tasted blood in his throat. "I’m going now."

When he arrived at the path, all he found was Selina’s phone—shattered into pieces—and a pool of blood on the ground.

Blood.

Logan’s jaw tightened, fists clenched, eyes fixed on the bloodstain. He was terrified it belonged to Selina. Terrified.

Jaxon’s voice was rough. "Sir... don’t panic. Maybe the blood isn’t hers..."

But even he didn’t believe that.

The attackers were clearly prepared. Selina was alone...

Logan slowly closed his eyes. When he opened them again, a glint of ice-cold fury flashed across his gaze.

"Find her. Now."

...

Selina vaguely felt herself being tossed into a car. The ride was bumpy and lasted over two hours.

She gritted her teeth through the pain in her wrist. When the car finally stopped, she was yanked out and thrown into an abandoned warehouse.

"Why does Miss Angelica want her dead so badly?"

"Something about her stealing Angelica’s identity..."

"What identity?"

"Not sure. I heard something about being a lifesaver?"

Lifesaver... Selina’s head swirled. Angelica wasn’t pretending to be the Morris heiress?

What does that have to do with being a lifesaver...?
