Married For Now-Chapter 227: STARTING LINE
Chapter 227: STARTING LINE
SINCE Sohee suddenly stopped lactating, he had no choice but to feed Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung formula milk temporarily.
He felt guilty since he wanted to breastfeed his babies purely.
For a year, at least.
I’m sorry, Woochul-ah and Woosung-ah. Your mommy can’t lactate breastmilk.
"Dear, don’t feel guilty," President Kim Nari said while gently patting Sohee’s back. His mother-in-law knew his desire to breastfeed the twins, and he probably looked gloomy at the moment. "Feeding formula milk has its benefits, too."
His mother-in-law dropped everything and came home to console Sohee after she heard what happened.
Actually, his father-in-law wanted to check on him personally, too.
But Kim Heedo stopped his father saying that at least one of his parents should stay at work.
I’m really lucky that I have good in-laws.
"I couldn’t breastfeed my kids because I was too busy with work," his mother-in-law said, smiling sadly. "The only thing I could do was to choose the best formula milk out there. So, trust me when I say that the formula milk that we fed to your twins is the best brand in the market."
That was consoling.
Not just the fact that the formula milk that his twin babies had was the best.
It’s the fact that my mother-in-law is here to comfort me.
President Kang Nari stayed with Sohee in his bedroom while he was sulking, letting Kim Heedo feed the twins in the nursery room.
My mother-in-law treats me like I were her own son and not just a son-in-law.
"Thank you, Mother-in-law," Sohee said, smiling even though he still felt a bit down. "I just still feel bad that I failed to take care of myself when I wanted to breastfeed my babies exclusively. Now I feel like a failure."
"It’s not your fault, dear," his mother-in-law said, pausing for a moment. "Actually, if there was someone who should take the blame, it would be me. I should have brought you to a professional and asked them for consultation after you gave birth to the twins. It slipped my mind that you’re a male Omega. Hence, my experience was different from yours. I’m sorry for not taking care of you enough, Sohee-ya."
"Mother-in-law, that’s not true. You and the rest of the family have taken good care of me really well. Please don’t apologize."
President Kang Nari smiled while patting Sohee’s head gently. "Then should we stop this little blame game, dear?"
Sohee chuckled, and then he nodded. "Thank you for making me feel better, Mother-in-law."

"THE TWINS have fallen asleep as soon as they got full."
Sohee felt relieved while watching his twin babies sleep peacefully in their cribs. "I’m sorry, Mommy starved you, Woochul-ah, Woosung-ah."
"Hyung, please don’t say that," Kim Heedo comforted him while rubbing his shoulders gently. "It only took a few minutes before we got them their infant formula. Please don’t be too hard on yourself."
"I wanted to breastfeed them exclusively..."
"Hyung, it will be fine. Me and the twins grew up with formula since Eomma couldn’t breastfeed us for long. Woochul and Woosung will be fine."
"Even so, I still want to continue breastfeeding. Mother-in-law already reached out to a hospital."
"Oh, really? Actually, I called Garam Hyung-nim earlier. Since he’s a male Omega who had successfully given birth before, I thought he could help us."
Sohee immediately turned to his husband. "What did Garam Hyung say."
"He recommended a Lactation Center to us," Kim Heedo said, smiling. "Would you like to pay them a visit, Hyung?"
***
"HYUNG, don’t worry— Haewon and Hanhae don’t have school today. Plus, they invited your brother there. The kids will make sure that our babies are safe."
Sohee knew that.
Aside from the kids, Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung each had their own nanny.
Plus, the household staff members were all elite and reliable.
Even so...
"I think I developed a separation anxiety," Sohee said, squeezing Kim Heedo’s hand. "Let’s go home as soon as the consultation is over, Heedo-ya."
Kim Heedo nodded. "Yes, Hyung."
A few minutes later, they finally arrived at the small, private hospital called Sowon Maternity Hospital.
Garam Hyung recommended this one.
It’s a medical facility that specializes in caring for women and Omegas during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as the care of newborn infants.
Sowon Maternity Hospital was also known for caring for pregnant male Omegas.
Especially for the ones abandoned by their Alphas, so it doubles as a shelter.
"Sohee-ya, Heedo-ya."
Oh. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Sohee smiled when Lim Garam greeted them at the entrance of the hospital. "Hyung, you didn’t have to come here. I’m sorry for the inconvenience."
"No, it’s alright. I have time since Gunwoo is still in daycare," Lim Garam explained. "I’ll introduce you to my doctor, Sohee-ya."
***
"ACCORDING to the result of the tests that you took, Park Sohee-ssi stopped lactating because you were eating too little."
Oh.
Sohee flinched when the doctor mentioned that, and then he finally came clean: "I’m trying to lose weight since I’m getting married soon, Doctor Yang."
I wanted to fit in my suit well...
Kim Heedo, who was sitting beside him, gasped as if he were surprised. "Hyung, you’re on a diet?"
Yes, that was something that he hid from his husband.
Because I knew he’d react like this.
Doctor Yang Ara, the female doctor, smiled kindly as if she were sympathizing with Sohee. "Park Sohee-ssi, I understand that it can be tempting to go on a diet after giving birth to lose your "baby weight." But you have to eat enough to replenish the calories that you burn from breastfeeding. In fact, you also need to eat healthy snacks between meals to close the calorie gap."
Calories.
I avoided them for weeks when Heedo wasn’t looking.
And, now, Sohee regretted that.
My stupid shallowness starved my babies...
"Sohee Hyung."
Aigoo.
That was the first time in a long while that Kim Heedo used that scary scolding tone on Sohee.
Now he couldn’t look at his husband.
"Hyung, I’ll be in charge of your meals from now on," Kim Heedo said sternly, holding Sohee’s hand gently as if to let him know that he was worried, but not angry. "I’ll hire a dietitian as soon as we’re done here."
"Okay," Sohee said obediently since he knew he didn’t have the right to be stubborn at the moment. But he would just apologize properly to Kim Heedo later. For now, he needed Doctor Yang Ara’s help. "Doctor Yang, I want to continue breastfeeding my twins. Please help me do so."
"First, I’ll recommend foods, herbs, and supplements to increase your breast milk production. They work well on male Omegas like you, Park Sohee-ssi," Doctor Yang Ara said. "Then I’ll teach you how to pump milk— it’s important to pump between feedings."
***
"HOW was the consultation, Sohee-ya?"
Sohee smiled tiredly at Lim Garam.
This hyung was kind enough to wait at the hospital’s cafeteria while he was having his consultation with the doctor earlier.
And, now, they were having coffee together.
Kim Heedo stepped out to make a phone call.
"We determined why I stopped lactating, and then Doctor Yang offered several methods to increase my breast milk production," Sohee said, and then he sighed. "But I’m worried how long it will take before I can breastfeed my twins again. I don’t want them to get used to infant formula. Not this early, at least."
"Then, do you want to buy breast milk from other mothers? They have a lactation center here," Lim Garam suggested. "I also did that when I stopped lactating due to stress and anxiety caused by my husband."
Oh, that’s an option?
Sohee realized that motherhood was truly a long and difficult journey.
And I’m still at the starting line...
