Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 154: Unpredictable halfling?
Stefan stood in front of the castle, his emerald eyes glistening softly, and he inhaled the cold wind, which cooled the fire in his heart that was still burning lightly.
His mind was replaying the moment Ashton unexpectedly kissed him, and it wasn’t the first time the demon prince had come this close to him.
Stefan wasn’t sure what to think... did he like it?
Hearing the sounds of horses, he looked around to see a carriage approaching him.
He took a step back, and the carriage came to a complete stop. The guard jumped down, bowed his head at him, and opened the carriage door.
The guard assisted Isabella out of the carriage, and Isabella looked at Stefan with interest before bowing her head.
"Hello there, Lord Stefan," she said as she elegantly extended her hand towards him, which he held and lightly kissed.
Isabella laughed, and Mirabella, who was exiting the carriage behind her, rolled her eyes at her flirtatious sister.
"Go to mother Isabella," she said to Isabella, who hummed and snapped her gaze.
"Do you have to ruin my moments?" Isabella asked angrily, then returned her gaze to Stefan, who smiled calmly.
"Good day, Lord Stefan?" Katherine inquired as the guard assisted her in exiting the carriage and standing beside Mirabella.
"Lord Stefan Adrelean of Anitca’s south side, Elisium." He introduced himself, and Katherine couldn’t help but smile at his calm and charming demeanor.
"Hello, my name is Katherine."
"I believe we have met." Stefan spoke up confidently, and she furrowed her brow at him.
"We have?" Stefan found her question perplexing.
"I am going to take my piano lessons." Isabella sighed and walked away as the guard climbed aboard the carriage and rode it away.
"We have, indeed." Stefan informed her, but Katherine appeared even more perplexed.
Mirabella sighed as she realized Katherine had forgotten Stefan was Sage’s brother. She was shocked when she found out at the grand breakfast, so she would be even more shocked if she found out again.
"Oh? I can not recall." Katherine nervously scratched her head.
"I am.."
"He is Queen Sage’s brother." Mirabella cut in right away, and Stefan, who had no idea about her memory loss, smiled and nodded at Katherine, who was staring at him in complete shock.
"W..what? How is this even possible?!" She stuttered and exclaimed before abruptly pointing at him. "You are a dragon! She is a fire mage!" Katherine screamed, then remembered Sage telling her she had a dragon brother.
"Y..your eyes." She stuttered, her gaze fixed on the gleaming emerald ones that matched Sage’s.
The lord was handsome and charming, but Katherine still couldn’t believe it.
She sighed and looked at Mirabella. "I am leaving right now; it is time for me to go to River." Mirabella nodded as she said.
"Oh? Actually, Prince River left Anitca city a few hours ago." Stefan unexpectedly informed.
"What?!" Katherine was taken aback.
"What about Ashton?" Mirabella asked slowly.
Mirabella let out a sigh as he struggled to answer her question.
"Come with me." She told Katherine, and they walked away, into the castle.
Stefan scratched the back of his neck. "I haven’t seen him since..." He came to a halt, and her eyes widened. "Could he have gone with Prince River?"
....
"Sage!" She heard Arthur’s voice echo in her head and a loud ring in her ear that made her wince in pain.
Arthur was holding her in his arms, and he was visibly concerned. "Are you all right?"
"What happened?" She asked and looked around to see that they were still in the forest, and she wasn’t thankful for her coat because it appeared that the cold was penetrating into it.
"I had to knock him out." Arthur told her with a smile, and she looked down to see Darren unconscious, his hand bandaged.
"I thought we teleported or something?" Sage asked, returning her gaze to Arthur.
"We did, but I knocked him out, and he ended up bringing us back here and passing out." Sage slowly nodded as he explained.
"You can put me down." She muttered, and he immediately obeyed, gently lifting her to her feet.
She stood there, tears welling up in her eyes, staring at Darren. It was as if she didn’t recognize him anymore, and by his previous words, it was clear that he felt the same way about her, which scared him.
"We should bring him with us." She said it without looking away from her unconscious friend.
"What?!" Arthur inquired, perplexed.
Sage sighed and turned to face him. "He will accompany us to the border." She said, and Arthur burst out laughing, but paused when he realized Sage was serious.
"No, no, no, this is not a good idea." Arthur chanted and moved his gaze away from her. "Have you forgotten about his Majesty’s dark state? Who knows what he is going to do to the halfling." He asked Sage, returning her gaze.
"I will persuade him." Sage told him confidently.
Arthur smirked, impressed by her self-assurance. "I admired you Sage, and to be honest, I will always admire you, but keep in mind that his Majesty did not spare himself, so why would he spare the halfling?" He asked, scowling in disbelief. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"If you care for him, you will..."
"Just leave him alone? I can’t do it, and I assure you that Cyrus will not kill him while I am still alive." She took a confident step towards him and placed her hand on his shoulder. "Everything is going to be fine." She spoke in hushed tones.
"If you say so," he said quietly, nodding slightly, and Sage smiled.
Sage blasted Darren with a small flick of flare, then made him glow and levitated him from the ground, moving him on top of Arthur’s back, using the spells she had learned.
Sage exhaled sharply and lowered her arms, pleased with herself for improving her spellcasting skills.
She jumped onto Arthur’s black, and he took off into the sky.
She was staring at Darren, wondering where he wanted to take her and why he had brought her back just as he was about to pass out.
"You are also becoming unpredictable, my dear friend." She muttered under her breath and forced a smile.
