Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 170: Do not dream
"What?!" Freya was taken aback. No matter how hard she and Arthur looked, they could only see darkness. Only Cyrus and Sage could see the blood, but Sage had passed out in Cyrus’ hands.
"You must return to the mountain’s edge." Cyrus told them, and despite their confusion, they immediately left.
Cyrus placed his hand on Sage’s head, his hand glowing, and she gasped for air. He let her go, and she jerked away from him, staring at him in surprise.
"What was that?" She asked him, shocked and perplexed, then turned back the path to see nothing but darkness and blood?
"This is a portal to the land of the sea of blood. Katherine summoned it a while ago." Cyrus responded curtly.
Sage’s eyes twitched in rage, and she returned her gaze to Cyrus. "And you are telling me this now?!" She screamed in anger.
"Yes, arrogant parrot." Cyrus responded by grabbing her jaw and wrapping his arm around her, pulling her close to him and making sure their bodies were pressed against each other.
Sage almost lost her breath as she saw mischief and desire in those eyes. ’Is he feeling emotions?’ Sage shook her head and grabbed his wrist, yanking his hand away from her jaw.
"What exactly are you doing? Can’t you see how angry I am with you?" She demanded angrily.
"Was that voice familiar?" Cyrus asked abruptly, and Sage nodded slowly, looking slightly perplexed.
"Are you certain?" Cyrus inquired once more.
"It sounded familiar... it was a male voice... it sounded like Jorad," she said slowly. Cyrus smirked, as if he already knew but wanted to hear it from her.
"What is going on? Did Katherine summon this portal for..." She paused, stunned. "Are the mages in there?" She exclaimed.
"Yes, arrogant parrot, and it appears that our dear friends Jorad and Inkadon are also in there, but far away from your people, don’t worry." He followed her and leaned in close. "Now and then. They have detected your life force." He whispered sensuously, his cold breath fanned Sage’s lips, and her mind went blank for a moment.
"What do you think you are doing?" Sage mumbled, her rage visible in her eyes.
"Calming you down?" Cyrus inquired, chewing his lower lip.
"I am going to punish you Cyrus, a punishment you will never forget, for keeping this from me." Sage growled, her fiery eyes glowed darkly, and it was almost as if he was looking into hell, which made him smirk in amusement even though he was actually intimidated by her.
"I will see my arrogant parrot," Cyrus said quietly as he pushed her head up and planted a kiss on the side of her neck where he had bit her.
Sage let out a shaky gasp as her knees buckled. What on earth was he doing?!
Before she could say anything, Cyrus released her, took her hand in his, and walked into the dark path, pulling her along with him. As it was a portal, they sank into the false darkness and arrived in the land of the sea of blood. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Sage felt drained immediately, and just as she was about to collapse, Cyrus yanked her up and scooped her into his arms. She could barely open her eyes, and when she tried to speak, she felt as if her energy was being drained; her breath was slow and weak, but she felt very much alive. What was going on with her? Why was it so abrupt?
She rested her head on Cyrus’ hard chest while holding Cyrus’ coat.
"Cyrus..." she stammered.
Cyrus remained motionless, his worried gaze fixed on her. "Are you okay?" He just wanted to make sure.
"Yes, but I am weak...."
"This is not a dream; your powers, life source, and energy have all been turned off here." Cyrus told her, sighing frustratedly. "I didn’t think of this; otherwise, I wouldn’t have drawn you in here." With sad eyes, he told her.
Sage smiled as she basked in the comfort and worry she was receiving; it was almost too good to be true.
"I am fine... We should find them."
"That is fine, but we are not alone." Cyrus said something unexpected.
"What..?" Sage was taken aback.
"Remember that this is hell for mages? Their spirits can be found anywhere." Cyrus told her and began walking while maintaining eye contact with her.
"How do you know so much about mages?" Sage felt compelled to inquire.
"Will you believe me if I say I just do?" Cyrus inquired, a smirk on his face.
"From your nanny?" Sage enquired.
"My normal state is the one who was cared for by her, but she poisoned him, and I had to kill her. Surrounded by too much danger, I remained in the dark for a long time and was neglected by everyone, including my mother, until I died." Sage gasped as Cyrus revealed himself, her eyes immediately filled with unshed tears.
"You... Died?"
"Do not worry, arrogant parrot; I am very much alive and here with you." Cyrus spoke with a faint smile that didn’t reach his eyes, which Sage noted perfectly.
"How...? Ashton...?"
"Yes." Cyrus replied and turned away from her, only to find himself surrounded by dead trees and nothing but blood on the ground.
Sage couldn’t take her gaze away from him when she noticed him looking around, wondering what he had been through. His dark state served as a shield, but he was still a living being. For some reason, she didn’t see him as a threat here; there was something else in him, something about those demon eyes that appeared sometimes. Whatever pain he had endured in order to protect his normal state was affecting him, hardening his heart.
"Do you recognize this location?" Cyrus asked, returning his gaze to her. Those emerald eyes twinkled with tears, as if comforting him, as if telling him that everything would be fine as long as she was with him, but there was a problem. She wasn’t going to be with him forever... he was going to kill her... he needed her life force even though it was obvious that she was his life force.
"Can’t I just stay with you forever?" She asked, her voice clear and light, her eyes pleading with him to say yes.
"I.." Cyrus wanted to speak but he suddenly stopped and his eyes turned totally black exactly of that of a demon then he said with a cold emotionless tone. "No and I advise you not to dream about it."
