Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 228: Her demons
Cyrus finally made it to the summit of the mountain and gently set Sage on her feet. Strangely, the top was shrouded in thick fog, making it difficult to see anything further, indicating that the Statkus mages were indeed on the mountain.
Sage’s eyes flashed in their fiery red form, and she returned her gaze to Cyrus, who had a stiff expression on his face and his gaze fixed on the fog ahead of them.
"What makes you believe they want to attack the mages?" Sage inquired, his eyes dimly glowing as he looked down at her.
"To entice you out." Cyrus exhaled and his massive wings lowered. "Come. Let’s get out of here; I will look after them myself."
Sage laughed at his remarks. "If you are going to do that, please don’t touch me." She then averted her gaze and took a step forward, but Cyrus grabbed her arm and drew her into his embrace.
His sapphire scales began to glow brightly as his wings spread out powerfully. Suddenly, his wings flapped violently, causing the fog to dissipate and the mountain to be cleared.
Sage let out a gasp, and Cyrus let her go. The mountain appeared normal and clear, but the dark energy in the air could not be overlooked.
"There is no trace of them." Sage muttered and took a slow, curious step forward, her eyes squinting in the direction of the trees. She could sense it. She could feel the dark energy. The Statkus mages were present, and they were watching her from the shadows of the night or from the barrier they had built.
She reached out her arm toward the trees, and a large flame appeared, swirled, and transformed into a raging fire ball that reflected in her fiery red eyes.
Cyrus, who stood still behind her, watched her and lowered his wings once more.
She blasted the fire ball, which immediately flew towards a tree, but before it could make contact, it blasted hard through a barrier and spread, making the barrier visible to their eyes and creating a crack.
"Bingo." Sage smirked and dropped her arm as she watched the barrier vanish. The trees vanished as well, revealing an army of Statkus mages in their path. They appeared even more repulsive and ready to attack, but Sage stood unfazed, not even a hint of fear in her eyes. Not even a smidgeon.
They all growled and snarled as they moved haggardly from their positions to attack, but it was clear that they were waiting for an order to attack.
Sage had noticed something peculiar about the statkus mages. Yes, they looked like living corpses, but they could think normally. What she didn’t notice was that when they were being controlled or ordered to attack, they acted mindlessly, not caring or thinking about anything else but attacking recklessly.
"They are looking for someone." Sage murmured, her gaze darting around the army. Bloody drool gushed from their haggard sharp canines, and their grip on their staffs was firm, signaling Sage and Cyrus that they were about to attack.
"Yes, they are." Cyrus whispered, his eyes narrowing at Sage. "Take a step back!" He raised his voice slightly, and she immediately obeyed. She returned to stand by his side, and his wings vanished.
A dark green glow began to form right where she was standing a second ago, stretching into the shape of a being. When the glow faded, Cyrus could feel Sage’s rage while standing unfazed in front of the repulsive Lianna, who wore a smile that highlighted her horrible statkus mage features.
He destroyed her body, but she had to regenerate herself in the land of the sea of blood. He was very impressed. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Dear Sage," Lianna said, her voice strained and raspy.
Sage didn’t say anything, but her glare revealed what she was thinking. She wished to turn Lianna into nothing but dust. She was determined that Lianna would never reincarnate.
"What did you say to me? You have come to regret everything you have done and wished you could go back in time? I shouldn’t go to the statkus portal because they will destroy everyone if they get me?" Safe scoffed, his face flushed with disbelief. "Indeed, wretched."
"You have a tendency to believe easily, don’t you?" Lianna cackled loudly and asked. "Foolish mage, I have no regrets!"
"You will soon regret returning to my sight." Sage stated matter-of-factly while staring murderously at Lianna.
Sage had grown much stronger and more confident, and her powerful energy was leaking like an endless waterfall.
"You have no idea, dear; Antica, as well as you and this ice dragon you call your husband, will be destroyed." Lianna spat and moved her gaze to Cyrus, who appeared unconcerned.
The ice gods are the ones behind the Statkus mages." Sage was now convinced. The ice gods would never want to control the entire world unless they could control the eternal winter. They were the ice gods, but Cyrus had control over the winter, which he still couldn’t end if he so desired. Anitca was their target; otherwise, all the gods would be slaughtered.
Lianna’s grin faded. "You know a lot, don’t you?"
Sage sighed, and twelve fire whips burst from each other’s hands, swaying with great menace. Her eyes became alive flames that danced with rage, and her red hair became a large flame of fire.
Her lips parted in delight. It had been a long time since she had had to use this level of her abilities, but she had grown even more powerful.
Cyrus smiled proudly. ’You look strikingly ethereal, my love,’ He said through their mind link.
’I do, don’t I? Why don’t you go see if there are any statkus mages hiding behind the mountain?’ Sage inquired throughout their mind link.
"Very well, my queen," he spoke loudly, and Sage couldn’t help but smile wickedly. Cyrus’ wings reappeared, and he lifted off the ground and vanished into the clouds.
Lianna, who wasn’t sure what was going on but was mortified by Sage’s power, frowned deeply.
"You think you are aren’t still that bug that can be easily crushed?" Lianna asked with a scoff.
Sage rolled her eyes. "You talk way too much. Let’s just get this over with." She snarled.
Lianna was taken aback. A frown graced her face. "Kill her! Do not back down!" She yelled at the statkus mages and then vanished.
Sage smirked. She wanted to kill Lianna, but it seemed she had to first kill the repulsive mages.
The repulsive creatures charged at her like hungry leeches, and swiftly Sage used her fire whips to dismantle them like spoiled fishes. She had killed over two hundred statkus mages in less than five minutes, without waiting for any of them to attack her. Not even for a moment. She stood in the midst of the bodies emitting faint smoke and inhaled deeply as her whips vanished but her eyes and hair remained on fire.
She stood up straight, her flaming eyes scanning the surroundings, but all she could hear was the whistle of the wind. Her ten fingers wiggled rigidly, and small flames appeared at the tips of each of them. She took a deep breath and turned to see a dark green force approaching. The force shaped itself into a large arm as it charged towards her. Without flinching, she struck her arm with a blow and the fire on her fingertip spread into a blasting force that instantly disintegrated the arm.
When she turned to her left, she saw the force again, but this time it was more like a small portal. She took a swallow. Hard and took a small step back as she watched an enormous bloodied hand with worms and maggots coming out of it, reaching for her.
This arm was enormous, like a giant’s, but it was more like a giant’s corpse. The stench of death poured out of it, and she made a mental note not to come into contact with it.
What happened the last time she visited the land of the sea of blood had taught her enough. She wasn’t just fighting gods; she was also fighting corpses, and it was obvious that she had her own demons.
Sage slammed her hands together, and a force of fire burst out in a straight line, blasting the arm but not scaring it or making it vanish.
"Seriously?!" Sage exclaimed in disbelief.
The arm reached out and took her in its disgusting bloody grip just as she blinked. Sage gasped and began to struggle and kick her legs. It had completely immobilized her body, preventing her from raising her hands.
Suddenly, she felt the arm tighten its grip on her. She could feel her bones at the verge of being crushed as the pressure increased. When she saw those blood-covered worms wiggling out of the arms and heading towards her, she gasped and screamed.
The grip tightened once more, and something snapped strongly in her. "NO!" Fire engulfed her entire body, bursting like an explosion and completely disintegrating it.
