Chapter 37: Torture

He couldn’t remember the owner of the voice. He just couldn’t recall where he heard that voice from.

"Who are you?! Where the hell am I?!" Davian said. He heard the voice laugh.

"Hmm let’s just say welcome to hell. I really want to just put a bullet through your head but-No. I’ll torture you till you beg for death," the man responded.

"What do you want?" Davian said.

"Your death. A painful one, so that in your next life... you will know how to keep to yourself and not take whatever that doesn’t belong to you.

Now, shall the fun begin? Give him the beating of his life, don’t unbind him...I want to see him bleed," the man ordered his goons.

They began to approach Davian, ready to beat him up.

"Hey, I asked what do you want? Let me go. What did I do to you?! Let me go, who are you, do I even know you?!" Davian struggled as he protested. He could hear the men approach him and he felt a punch land on his stomach. He leaned his upper body a little at the impact.

Without giving him a breathing space, several punches landed on him, some at his face. He could taste blood already.

"You cowards! Let me go...let’s really fight if you stand a chance," Davian only riled the men up with his words.

The man with the voice punched him on the face this time. "That arrogant mouth of yours," he said.

"You don’t know, but it only puts you in trouble," the man continued.

"Continue!" he added and his men continued with the beatings.

Davian groaned in pain.

"Arghhh," he felt something strong, like an iron chain, he felt it land on his neck. He gritted his teeth at the excruciating pain as he felt the skin at his neck split.

"Wait!" the voice ordered and his men stopped. The man moved closer to Davian and held him by his hair, Davian winced to the pain it caused him.

"Should I stop? This is just the first segment of your torture. I thought you were stronger to withstand it," he mocked him. The man’s hot breath fell on Davian’s face, he was close-Davian thought.

He spat on the man’s face, a mixture of saliva and blood. The man moved backwards as he wiped his face.

"You bastard, you are just a f*ucking coward. Free me, let’s go one on one, you and I. I’ll kill you with my bare hands-" the man punched the words out of Davian’s mouth.

"Damn you," Davian muttered under his breath.

The man began to whip him all over with the iron chain. "Argh..." Davian bit his lower lips, the veins and muscles of his body stood erect especially that of his forehead and neck.

His head hit the cold floor as the chair was pushed down to the side. Series of kicks landed on his stomach and chest. Davian began coughing, coughing out blood as well...he was feeling numb.

He could feel the men raised up the chair he was bounded to and he passed out immediately something hit the back of his head.

They waited out yesterday till after midnight before they went back home. There were no leads in finding Davian.

The police were already on the case but it just wasn’t enough for Silvia. Today was supposed to be the wedding day but it was postponed till further notice.

To all the guests and invitees, it was just because of some minor issues, as the kidnapping case was still kept confidential till when necessary to be shared with the public. Only the family and close friends knew the real reason for the postponement.

Silvia sat on her bed in her parents’ house. The memory of the way Elizabeth cried when she was told the news of Davian’s kidnap, was still imprinted in her mind. She remembered the way Becca blamed her for the whole thing.

"This is all your fault. This is your fault, you witch!" Becca fumed.

"Becca?!" Ray reprimanded her.

"It’s not anyone’s fault this happened," Lucas added. Silvia had called up Ray and Lucas with Davian’s phone, she told them to meet up at the penthouse she got for Elizabeth, she sent them the address.

She was surprised to see Becca and Sarah there as well.

"We had to come too. We were also so worried about Davian, where is he?" Sarah started.

"He didn’t show up yesterday, then suddenly his phone is with you and today is your wedding day. What happened? Did he get into an accident," Ray questioned.

She broke the news to them, Elizabeth present as well.

"No, it’s her fault. You and I know that the people that took him away must be connected to her. If not, if it’s a kidnap for ransom syndicate then it’s also her fault.

"Because no one would have thought of kidnapping him, if he wasn’t acquainted with Silvia Reyes," Becca elaborated.

"Not enough for you to blame her. I’m really sorry for her behavior, Ms. Reyes," Ray directed to Silvia and Becca scoffed.

The door to Silvia’s room opened and her mother walked in, a tray in her hands which had a cup of tea on it.

"I wanted to serve you this. It will help you sleep, you should be by now," Janet said and sat close to Silvia on the bed. She handed the tea to Silvia who took it.

She only sipped a little and dropped it back on the tray with its saucer. Janet put it aside.

"You are going to find him, we’ll make sure of that," She said.

"It’s been more than a day," Silvia said with a broken voice.

"If anything happens to him, I won’t forgive myself and his friends and family will hate me for the rest of their lives," she added.

"Why would they? It’s not your fault this happened," Janet objected.

Silvia didn’t respond. Elizabeth’s voice echoed in her mind.

"I knew something like this might happen and it did. You better find my son and bring him back to me unharmed, because if anything happens to him..." Elizabeth trails off as she chokes on her tears. Becca and Sarah went to hold her immediately.

"It’s okay, Mrs Randell," they both comforted her.

"It’s not. He’s all I have, he’s all I have left. He wouldn’t be in this situation if not for me, it’s all my fault. I would have preferred to have died than for anything to happen to my baby, oh God..." she cried more. Silvia couldn’t bear it and just walked out.

"Mom?" Silvia called.

"Yes, sweetie," Janet answered.

"Did you feel this devastated when I was kidnapped?" Silvia asked.

"More than devastated, I went crazy like a madwoman. So more than anyone, I understand what you are feeling right now," Janet said. She kissed Silvia’s temple.

"Go to bed now. Tomorrow, we might get better news," Janet assured. Silvia nodded, Janet smiled and walked out of her room with the tray of tea.

Silvia slumped on her bed.

She just hopes. If not, she will take the laws into her hands. She suspected Gabriel Yul or the Shipmans but then again, she still had other rivals and enemies, some that even she doesn’t even know of.

But she was ready. Ready to even raid all the underground worlds if necessary. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

She turned to the side of the bed Davian had lied on when they slept on this bed together, the first time she introduced him to her parents.

Her hand reached towards it, she caresses it as the memory of that moment flash through her mind. What is this sudden longing?-She asked herself.

Is it really just about the fact that she never wants anyone to experience what she had gone through during her kidnap? Or...

Was there something else?

Davian woke up abruptly from the shock of very cold water being splashed across his face and body. The place alone was cold, he could tell he was burning up, his breath was hot and he had a persistent headache.

"What’s with the frown? You don’t like the way I woke you up?" he heard that sardonic voice again, it was filled with more sadism than ever.

Davian was still blindfolded, his knee touching the ground. He wasn’t bonded to a chair anymore, instead, he was made to kneel as his hands and legs were chained, separately-All four, with long chains.

"Do you prefer a jolt?" the voice said and Davian felt electricity go through him.

"Argh!" he gritted his teeth, the volts weren’t enough to kill him but enough to cause him severe pain.

The man stopped and continued again almost immediately not giving Davian time to recover. He didn’t stop, not until Davian’s head fell as he was going numb from the pain.

He held Davian’s head by the hair and removed the blindfold. Davian shut his eyes at the sudden light. Slowly, he began to open his eyes as it adjusted to the light. A face began to appear faintly in front of him until it became clear.
